    Orbea Oiz H30 is an aluminium fully, with 120 mm of travel and it loves the speed... The question is, who will love the bike - XC racers, or trail riders?

I just got back from putting money down on this bike for my daughter and now I feel 100% better knowing all this specific information you provided. Especially about the rear shock/frame info! And what to replace immediately ...pads and rear cassette. This will greatly improve our first trip on her first ride!

    A size large weights about 13,3 kg with a dropper.
    The problem with the gearshiftning on the H30 is not the Sunrace cassette, but it is the gear-cabel. The gearwire (not the outer-cabel) shall be changed to a 1,1mm wire. Then the slx-sunrace combo works very well.

    I used to have a full Shimano Deore drivetrian... Then, I converted to a 1×10 using a blackspire chainring and a Sunrace MX3 cassette and Shimano chain... I was a little bit difficult to setup the limit screws on the derailleur, but once done, the Sunrace cassette has been shifting as well as the Shimano... 🚲

Just a comment for you (and maybe others...): there are bottle-holders where you can take the bottle sideways... so you can easily put in 2 bottles (1 normal size and 1 smaller size under the damper)... btw.... nice video :)

    Thank's for the clear words. I am currently searching a new fully XC Bike and had that one in mind (more expensive version for 3000€, H10). I guess I am that one serving that niche ;).
    Anyway the bike looks really good and a friend of mine who owns the Occcam told me that the build quality is really decent. However the dealbreaker for this specific version would be the "gearbox" - shifting should always be fluid and fast, absolute no go on this version!
    The other bike I had in mind was the ROSE Thrill Hill. In the past you had the Count Solo for testing...what about the Thrill Hill for the future? ;)
    One final word about the bottlecage: Have you tried the fidlock system? Works really good on my bike, looks very clean and safes space in cramped frames.
    Keep up the good content and see you next time.

Is curios but is the reallity. Here on spain not too much Ocam.. Orbea needs make a 2000/ 2300 xc full suspension bike for the spanish consumers. • @DanielGuardieiro
      @DanielGuardieiro 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shortcut Ronny hi. I would like to get more details about this topic. In your opinion the cassette is not the problem just the cable from shifter? How tonfix? Just replace for another one? And if I would like to replace the cassette. A new freehub is required?

    • @dmalovic
      @dmalovic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Neves Guardieiro The shifter cable is indeed very simple to replace yes. And the wheel comes with a standard old freewheel body, that is why the suntour cheaper 11 smallest cog cassette was used. Really sad they did not use the wheel with the new microspline FH body. If the hub manufacturer provided a replacement free hub body, you could very simply replace it. This way, you are probably looking at either a new wheel, or relacing this wheel with a different hub that uses microspline. So the options are sell this cheap wheel set and buy a better one with microspline, or relace the wheel. Bear in mind you might need to buy new spokes as well, as the flange dimensions will not be the same. All this trouble in stead of selling 12 speed bikes with proper microspline or XDdriver rear hubs :(

    That orbea oiz is simply amazing!! Welds are simply invisible, I thought that it was carbon front triangle and alluminium rear triangle, but if it's fully alluminium is amazing!
    The main issue with this bike is the weight in order to use it for races, but with a few upgrades I think that it can be transoformed in a pure race machine but the frame weight will always be the limit.
    The main upgrade for a full suspension bike for me are: 3 position suspension tuning and a good pair of wheel (possibly with carbon rims), all the rest is about the rider, if the rider is strong enough to push a good amount of watts the full suspension will always be the best option for him.

    There are a lot of riders who are XC oriented, but they have low riding skills. This riders usually looking for a bike easier than an hardtail but at the same time it must have hardtail features (angles, posture, climb oriented...)

      Totally agree. I've just bought an Oiz because I'm an older rider (low skill, low bravery) who rides mainly XC but wants the ability to do the occasional local trails. My 15 year old hardtail was leading to far too many crashes, and I don't heal as well these days LOL. Also, I don't see the obsession with weight because most XC riders have a 5kg bag on our backs anyway! The Oiz will still be way more capable than this rider, regardless of terrain.

    SunRace cassettes are awful. I have had two of them paired with my 11 speed xt drivetrain (both 11-46).
    One of them had the third sproket bent during an upshift on a steep hill (after only 2 months of use) the other lasted less than 600km.
    I have now swichted back to the slightly more expensive xt or even slx shimano cassettes. Shifts are waaaay smother and they last a lot longer.

    • @britshell
      @britshell 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dmalovic Before I get into it I just want to say, ride a bike on a dirt trail before you buy it. A bike might look perfect on paper but not fit you personally well once you take it out on the trail. Ok now down to business. So mostly XC but can handle a bit of rough stuff, budget about 2.5k for an FS bike. Ok, here is one you might want to try and demo the base model Kona Process 134 27.5 or 29er. It's a solid frame, fun light trail bike, and good foundation to build onto upgrading parts over time. An other one I would recommend is the Santa Cruz Tallboy AL base model. Even though it's a boutique brand the bike is about the same price as the others you are looking at. Since you are mostly XC focused this bike would be a great choice, stable, comfortable, and playful if you push it. It's a great bike to upgrade over time, as you get more into it and have a bit of spare cash. Now for the other bikes, I have never ridden a Canyon, but they have a good reputation. The Shimano hubs are a bit of a turn off, but Shimano has recently redesigned them so maybe they are better than they use to be. Looking at the Merida, no, the Joytech hubs is all I had to see to say no absolutely not. The Oreba, I think you can do better, Unless you have demoed it and fell in love with the ride, I would not recommend it. Nothing specific, something fells off about it. Anyway that is my 2 cents.
