That's not what it was preventing at all. the usb port was disabled because 3rd parties in China put their own apps and spyware onto device and resell them. Huawei prevents this by making them register their phone, like Apple does afaik.
All the damage from that device is in the silicon chips. It's low current and wouldn't pop fuzes. Also damaging a vehicle on purpose and then using their warranty is fraud
