Just to mention, Pixels 2 and above have a feature where they will disable the USB port for a long time if a short is detected, eventually with enough trying it'll give you a notification to tell you the port isn't working and after maybe a few days it'll work again.

Yeah a student stupidly plugged one into a bunch of computers at his school. If I remember correctly, he did like over $40,000 in damage and went to prison.
What if you don’t use this on others’ stuff but yourself. I can definitely imagine like an agent carrying this around to fry their electronics whenever they’re at risk of being caught.
I guess I could see them selling them because they know someone out there will make them without letting anyone know and silently destroy devices. At least this way, companies can learn how to defend against these attacks? Still, in that case they should only be purchased by the companies themselves, not the general public.
Uhhh, it's made to test the electrical limits and the safeties implemented on devices for numerous reasons. In this case, he's testing their limits to see how much they can take and whether they will survive or not; still scientific.
