Brian, I am one of your competitors out of Hamilton County, that being said, I want everyone to know how amazing your craftmanship, your konwledge base and integrity is. An honor to watch your videos.
Nice comment Eric 👍✌🏻
Good morning Eric, I really appreciate that! Just to clarify I don't think we're competitors. There is plenty of work out there for everyone, that being said I am pleased to be your 1st subscriber!
@@GrandRoofingInc Wise words, I'm friends with other roofers in our area and agree completely. Plenty of work for everyone. I made a video a while back but got really busy and never uploaded, maybe I'll start. All the best!
@@ericrhodesbusiness I'll be looking for it, I've subscribed and rang the bell so hopefully I'll be notified when you do.
@@GrandRoofingInc
Well, I'm your newest roofing competitor in the Hamilton county area, and soon I'll have taken ALL of the clients from both of your businesses! Mua ha ha ha! No, seriously I'm not a roofer, and I don't even know what state Hamilton county is in.
I'm here because I'm confused as to what to use to cover a bare plywood spot on a roof with standard asphalt shingles. I was initially going to use felt paper, but apparently the home centers don't sell it in anything smaller than huge rolls. Some of it is slightly thicker than the rest. Which is best?
🚫 However, the "expert" at Lowes recommended another option, which was to buy the 1gal can of Henry brand, solvent based roof coating and spread that over the bare plywood instead of using felt paper. Then install the new 3-row shingles(after the coating completely dries I assume). Seems to me that may not provide a consistently flat enough surface for the shingles(??)
Which of those 2 options would you recommend, and lastly, can I just buy a tube of roof sealer for my caulk gun and use it to seal roofing nails AND hold down loose shingles, or do I need roofing cement and sealer?
Thanks.
I know I'm years behind but Watched your video from FortWorth Texas
I like when someone shows from start to finish and not just skip things
I’m in Augusta GA. I figured instead of having a roofing company fix my roof I’ll do it myself.
Winter sucks. I’m originally from Chicago so I definitely know how much it sucks
Heads up! Winter sucks!
I'm in Alabama and was inherited a pretty large buing.this video has shown me tricks on how to replace shingles myself unless you want to come do it for me. I am disabled but I've got to get it done.thank you for the video and the knowledge. Great job.ive never done shingles repair so I've got to lot to learn.god bless.
Greetings from Northern Michigan
Great video and explanation, from Pasadena CA. Appreciate the complete end-to-end of what to do
Damn, wish you were in SC. I'd be getting you to fix my roof.
Best DIY roof repair video I have found yet. Thank you for going over the details that the layman wouldn’t know, like bonding areas, nail placement, etc.
The chance of me getting on the roof of my 1 story house in Florida is so close to zero, it's beyond human comprehension. But I watch videos like this to learn what professionals do which in turn helps me understand what the contractor is saying, what work needs to be done, and how the work is done. The long form videos are fine, and I appreciate the time and effort you put into producing them.
You’re right, Im one of those who likes the longer videos and showing the job start to finish. For those doing it themselves, it helps to see the obstacles a professional encounters so we can be prepared if it happens on our project and problems solve without panicking.
Watching from Ottawa Ontario Canada, will be up on my sons roof later today. Will not let him hire a company just for a few loose shingles and can teach him to DIY when possible. He has a big enough mortgage to deal with ! Thanks for very clear instructions. You are doing kindness to the world by sharing your knowledge. G-d Bless you!!
Watching from Denmark, Europe🇩🇰
Chicago here recently left Hamilton county I have a leak your video is great help!
DYI housewife from Wyoming. I'm replacing a couple of shingles before winter sets in. Yes, to full length videos. Thanks for the help!! Annette

Me too girlie!
Watching from Vancouver, WA... need tips for roof repair for center top of garage roof, squirrels chewing through.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I really appreciate it and like the video. You gave us great tips on how repair some of the shingles missing. I live in Los Angeles area and after the wind we had in the last few days, I lost some shingles on my roof.
Watching from Saskatchewan Canada! The wind blew off a patch and I’ve never repaired anything on a roof before. You helped tremendously!! Thank you!
Coming from Nova Scotia Canada. You’re my go to video guy! Awesome work.

Fort st john, bc. Canadian roofer here, have learned a few little tricks and enjoy watching the worst roof ever series, keep up the good work
Thank you!
Commenting from Los Angeles, California,...good job! As a homeowner, I going to try and DIY to save money. Thank you!
As long as you're comfortable being up there, just make sure careful. Not saving too much money if you get hurt.
I know you are used to it, but the odds will catch up to you without any sort of protection. A shingle rips, or your boot slides, and your life is changed forever. Be safe. Great video.
Watching from Central FL, I appreciate the longer videos you do, they're more comprehensive.
I'm in Altadena, California and lost a few shingles in the wind that drove the Eaton fire. I appreciated your analysis of why the original shingles failed. I suspect that the person that installed some dormer vents did not use adhesive on the shingles he loosened.
Showing the step by step with all the intricacies is the unspoken “common knowledge”
Austin, Texas Brother!
Thank You for the insight on Asphalt shingle repair :)
I’m a rep for one of the shingle manufacturers. Refreshing to see some actual craftsmanship. Cheers from Chicago.
Just for your family. Take a few minutes and get tied off. You seem like a really good guy. I would like to keep all the good guys in the biz. Good luck and stay safe.
Dayton OH new viewer and quick subscriber! You're a professional, conscientious, and a thorough worker! Knowledge is power, and few recognize sharing earns respect and trust. Your business is going to thrive. Thank you Brian.
Watching In Scotland 🏴
Another great job of explaining what you do and why. A fan from Oscoda, Michigan but born and schooled in Indy.
Hi Brian, I'm a homeowner in Sherman, Connecticut. We had some big wind here on Jan. 9/10 and it blew off 16 shingles! It was so nice to watch your video and get some pro tips. Best wishes!
Thanks!
I am watching from Winter Haven, Florida. I will replace my roof on my own, it's about the size of work you just did. Thanks for showing us. Greatly appreciative. Hurricane Milton took some shingles off.
Lakeland, FL. I enjoyed watching this very informative uncut video. Luckily I only need to make a small area shingle repair after Hurricane Milton. Thank you for the step by step video and for explaining the obstacles you encountered and worked around.
Watching from Brazil, Brasília-DF, thanks for help, and I finished to repair my roof (shingle) with support of yours videos.

I'm watching from Rochester, NY. Your video really helps. You demonstrated all the necessary steps to do the job. Great instruction. Thank you 👍
I find your videos very informative and helpful. Longer videos can show more detail and introduce different aspects and situations of roofing repair jobs that people might encounter. All your information is much appreciated.
State of Washington in Olympia. Like others, I appreciate the full, uncut format. This is a huge help. I have a leak and will replace a few tabs. Thank you!
I damaged two shingles today, trying to fix a roof leak (no roofing experience whatsoever), so I ended up replacing them. Waiting for tomorrow's rain to see how they hold out. If it works, who knows, I may even attempt to reroof the house someday:) Subscribing to the channel for educational purposes in the meantime. Thank you from Washington state!
I like long unedited videos. Thank you for posting. I appreciate your work.
From Deming, NM where we regularly get wind gusts of 70 mph. My 9 yo mobile home started losing shingles 2 years ago. Found one guy who replaced the first ones, but his repair blew away as well as more. No one wants to come out this far. I’m going to give it a shot thanks to your video.
Watching from Indianapolis! Thanks for teaching me how to repair my shed roof!
Nice, you're almost in my backyard. I'm glad it was a help!
Down south, Houston Texas. Thanks for the vid.
From Augusta GA. I like the simple explanation you provide for the repair
Thank you Brian for another informative video. As you often demonstrate, nail placement is critical in shingle roofing.
And each shingle represents another opportunity to screw things up. Few people can maintain focus on each and every nail, but that is what it takes.
Don't mind "longer" videos either.
Watching from California Glenn county
Texas
I learned a lot from your video. I'm preparing for my roof to get 13 shingles replaced.
So close to the edge. I'd rather watch Brian. Great job!
Watching from Smyrna, Tennessee. Thank you,
Hi Brian, david here watching from fort Worth Texas. Have learned a lot from watching your videos. Big thanks
Hi there. Always love watching your videos. I live in Scotland UK. Scottish John.
Thanks for this unedited video. I don't actually have shingles that need replacing, but I know some day I will, so it's useful for me to have an idea when I have to actually do it

Great tutorial, had a couple of shingles damaged in a recent storm so now quite happy to have a go at them. Watching from the east coast of England (uk).
Watched from FL, Hurricane Milton roof repairs, lost about 12 shingles. Thanks
I'm watching from Raeford, North Carolina and learning a bundle. Thanks
I watched a couple of your videos now. I needed a refresh on roof repair. I'm in El Paso, Texas, and the high winds took two of my shingles today and threw them in the pool. If the wind lets up tomorrow, I'll be up doing the repairs. In my area, finding a competent contractor is far and few between!
Yep another Milton induced shingle repair. Good video. I've watched several. This was best. the uncut unedited works for those of us who dont assume that everyone knows whats happening in between the "steps".
Lakeland, FL... Have some shingle damage from Ian and now they came off in Milton, I am going to do some temporary repairs until the claim for Ian is paid and I can put a new roof on... great video, insight, and knowledge... keep it up!
I’m watching from DFW, Texas. I work in IT but had to do some roof work one day. Found one of your videos and have watched everyone since then. Thank you for your knowledge!
Thank you I appreciate that! What type of IT do you do?
Thanks for tips👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽from Chicago
Portland Oregon, out here we used malarkey shingles. They give us 1”3/4 nail area for roofers that can’t nail shingles property
I know I like using Malarkey myself, but they became very hard to get last year.
I was looking at the larger nailing area on the shingles and noticed that about half the area marked for nailing, only goes through 1 layer. I thought that wasn’t good, as the shingles could melt apart, or if the nail hits just off the second layer, it could blow through the top layer.
I am a renter trying to repair the Ridgeline near Tulsa Oklahoma. I'm sure this is a bit out of my capabilities. Amazing work you do though.
Watching from Northern Michigan
Hey my name is Brian I'm viewing from arizona good content I'm a roofer to
Thanks Brian, You showed me exactly what I needed to do. I live in N.C. and I`m 72. Now, do I have the courage to go back up there.
Clearwater, Florida and you give me confidence to tackle my Repair
Thank you for the video! Watching out of northern NJ. I have someone trying to rip us off at $4,500 to replace a few patches of shingles. This is very helpful with understanding the job.
From south suburbs Chicago. I can't believe how much you've done in 15mins, and here i am wasting time not getting anything done on my roof. 😂 I could possibly be done too. Good job!
It still scares me to watch how close you are to the edge. When I was young that stuff never bothered me lol. Eastern NC Always enjoy the craftsmanship!
Thank you!
Hey, at least it isn't rainy and cold yet.. 😁
Watching ya from Virginia Beach VA.
Winter sucks
Watching from Pryor Creek, OK (Lake Hudson). Great video!
Sarasota, Florida. Just went through two Hurricanes, but Milton damaged my roof via tree branch. Nothing majar thank goodness.
I might end up having to do a little shingle fix on my roof. Greatly appreciate all the info and tips in this video!
I got 2 patches on my roof. I called 2 roofers to come and look; one said $800 and he could get it done the next day, another said $400 and said he would call me within the next few days. After seeing your DIY video heck I am encouraged now and going to do it myself. Thank you for showing the entire process, it's definitely good to see the whole length.
Amazing you getting up onto the 2nd floor so easy!! I'm dizzy just watching you! You teach by our-almost-hands-on. Paid $350 just this morning for shingle repairs, because I just can't force myself to climb that ladder up there. Fear costs $$ am afraid!! Look forward to more from you. Rural AZ (Tristate of CA/AZ/NV).
If you feel unsafe, you probably saved a lot more! Hospital bills and death can cost a lot more...
Watched your post from Chattanooga, TN. Good work.
