More like this: uncut, from beginning to end. I watch a ton of DIY videos. Here is something you guys don't realize. You have people watching these videos at different levels of understanding. When we are watching a long, uncut video, you guys will invariably make offhand comments. Throw away comments that you think nothing of. For example, I've heard you mention "common bond" quite a bit, but I was never sure what you were talking about. In this video, as you pulled up a shingle, you pointed right to it. I'm sure you thought nothing of the comment, but it finally cleared it up for me. You may have chopped that in an edit. When you guys edit, you will most likely chop what you consider the simple stuff to get to the heart of the matter, but you also have chopped off a big part of understanding for not-so-experienced people like myself.
I like the uncut long format. I actively speed up and slow down parts to suit me. Always appreciate your professionalism and teaching but this one was especially great, you got into a flow and really showed your skill, pragmatism and problem solving. Many thanks, appreciate you keeping the standard of professionalism high.
Adding a comment for algorithm. I'm a solar installer/roofer since 2013 and occasionally do roof repairs. I'm of the opinion that you can never stop learning, so watching videos of people that do the same stuff I do makes me better in the long run. Keep the videos comin dawg!
These repair videos are my favorite. I am glad you are doing a real time start to finish. The longer the better. You are a great instructor. Thank you for your knowledge.
I enjoy learning about something I know nothing about so I can relay it to my son & encourage him to learn it as well. I appreciate your honesty, hard work & integrity to the home owner...that is priceless. I think 15 min segments can be helpful for super busy people. Forget the AI, just break it up into multiple segments. I am learning about tools and appreciate you listing off the tools you work with as well. Awesome work ethic and great example for viewers to see. 👍
Alpharetta, GA. Homeowner. Since I am not in the roofing trade, a long real-time video is useful to me. It gives me a feel for the duration and effort of the task, shows me more gotchas, and the repetitions help me remember the numerous details.
Wow, you are very detail oriented and educated on where to put the nails seal with the seam lines and all that… I wish everywhere in the country had a roofing company as good as the work you do.
Central/West Texas here! Absolutely love your videos, sir. I recently took a sales/superintendent position with a roofing company and I’ve been doing all the research I can to learn all the things that I don’t know much about. There are a few different people I watch here on YT, but you’re at the top of the list when it comes to this segment. I really appreciate all of the free knowledge you put out. Never thought I could sit and watch over an hour long video on roofing/repairs, yet here I am. Excellent craftsmanship! 👏👏👏
I have been watching your channels for a few years and really like how to explain what you are doing and why plus you dont like to cut corners ...Quality Work
22:22 - This is perfect! Having _never_ watched a roof repair from start to finish, I don’t have an idea 1. how long to plan the repair, 2. What to traps to expect during the repair (and how to remedy), 3. Precise technique and process of the repair, etc. Uncut videos are a drastic cut (ha!) above the rest of the ‘howto’ videos out there on any topic! When I heard you say you were getting fresh batteries for the camera, I knew I had to buckle in for the ride! I have confidence I can do my own repair just from watching you work. The commentary was just an added bonus. I wish all how-to utoobs were the same way. EDIT: 1:24:16 - this is where your camera angle went south. It’s too bad you couldn’t see the lowered angle while you were working from this point. Only your hands could be seen from this point forward (the top was cut off).
Watching the techniques repeatedly done helps to understand and build confidence. So full length videos are good for people such as yourself that are good at training through practical exercise demonstration. Nice work, thanks.
Videos are great! It’s troubleshooting in Real Life. As you’re removing shingles we are all expecting the big reveal! What’s best is that feeling that there’s hope to repair. Every roofer I have talked to just advised a new roof.
Great video. I am still watching, but I do enjoy the full video- unedited, uncut. Very informative. Great learning video. Thank you so much. I wish I lived closer. I would help (no pay) just to learn. I am really enjoying this. I am watching from Steubenville, Ohio. THANKS AGAIN!
I like the entire video - and can choose to speed up where I find it appropriate. But will really watch the entire video because of your commentary. Your job would have taken me a few days to do ... :)
This was one of the best video I’ve watched from your channel thank you. It really gives us an idea of all of the thought process and work that goes into diagnosing and repairing the problem. I really appreciate it and would love to watch more content like this.
Boston, MA. Love seeing your attention to detail. Helps me understand what to look for in my roofers and my upcoming new roof. Keep it coming uncut. That would easily be a $1200 job here.
If you wanna hear my truth, I love the uncut. I don't care about how long I will sit here and watch the whole thing. I don't know you, but I can't say you have the knowledge for roofing. And you have told me some things On your inspectons Along with a clear cut detailed Solution thanks have a good one.
Tamp Florida , i do remodeling and roofing makes me nervous. After watching your videos the 2 hurricanes hit and I was able to fix my elderly parents roof. Thank you
I wasn't looking this up. However, this was very educational. Thank you for sharing. It is something I might try to do on my own if the time arose or I would at least now be educated in what it takes to do the repair. Thanks!
Love the long-form, uncut vids! I learn more. Like, I'm right there with you. It's like OJT (ON THE JOB TRAINING)! Keep 'em coming! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Thanks for the videos. 30 minutes to 1 hour for video length sounds good for me. Your information is pretty detailed and a good presentation of the steps. Warm in WI. Thanks again.
Great video! I’m in North Central Oregon and recently had basically the same issue pop up on my 9 yr. old roof. Of course, it’s currently raining pretty hard but once it stops I’ll be using your video to make repairs…!
This is very cool. I like the long videos you could do some quick videos just describing certain terms like keyholes. Was something I never heard of before
Jersey City NJ more instructional longer videos are what I look for. My roof and many areas around are flat roofs and have been for 100 years. There’s newer homes and some have peaked roofs but they are the exception.
As far as the length of your videos , I guess it depends on the job you’re recording. Viewers have the ability to speed up the playback but I never do that on videos I watch on TH-cam. I saw your video yesterday when my wife was with me and she didn’t want to watch this 90 minute video with me. She has watched other videos you posted with me, so apparently she prefers shorter videos. I’m watching it today I’m 30 minutes in. Good thing they got you to repair their roof because that wasn’t getting better on its own😮
I always took a large bucket with me to put tools into and tied a rope on the bucket handle to pull it to the roof . On the roof I would put nails into the bucket from the removed shingles ,etc .
Wow dude just stumbled across your content, amazing content you have a lot of skills and knowledge, thanks for sharing. Subscribed and will be watching your next video
So I don't do DIY anymore. So watching videos like this is entertaining to me. So I like the long version. Also I think it would be kind of cool but probably not within your budget. I'm giving somebody a brand new roof.
I’ve learned from your videos and and also validated some things I was concerned about with my new roof. Just starting to battle the contractor as they are on a different planet as far as repairs go. Will need to hire someone else to redo the job 😞
Bro you have to buy a Milwaukee or Dewalt electric nailer you don’t have to set up that air compressor. I bought the dewalt battery powered framer first loved it so much went and bought the roofing nailer. Then went and bought the milawaukee roofing nailer it is definitely better than the dewalt. Makes repairs like this even that much faster. Eagle Idaho
Will see it in a few minutes - but at 26:00 I would be guessing that you will "sister" another wood beside the rotten beam. Also appears that the plywood sheathing to the right of the rotten plywood was done recently. Too bad the last roofer did not ensure that everything was leak proof.
Canada. I watch 2x speed, so real time is fine. A little long, but no steps skipped. If you’re pulling up ch of shingles just rinse and repeat, you could do the first and speed up the clip 4x until the next step. You would have to voiceover if you wanted to add commentary though…and might not make the video much shorter… so… the video is as long as it takes to do the job, no stress.
Nice video. I'm new at roofing and I learned a lot from this video . Just wondering, why did you cut two pieces of plywood when covering the hole? I think you have enough to cut in one piece
I did it with 2 pieces because it was over 4 foot tall. Never turn a sheet of OSB to run parallel with rafters. OSB stands for oriented strand board. There is a grain to it. To keep its strength, it needs to run perpendicular across the rafters.
Brian might I make a suggestion, I know these are old school but you need to get you a pair of overalls. Why if you want to know, the pockets for pencils and other stuff. My gran father was a carpenter and he would swear bu them. I watching from NYC. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Almost looks like the problem was on the previous wood repair they cut the top corner of the plywood off the stud and it dipped down causing the top of the shingle to dip down right by the waterline…was that your assessment? Nice repair btw, quality work
I appreciate your videos! Do you recommend GeoCell 4500 for sealing galvanized metal seams? Or is something else better? I'm looking for white or clear tubes. Thanks!

Agreed! I’ve watched a couple of these already start to finish.
Exactly this! Great video. Always look for uncut.
The full length uncut videos are the best. A lot of important information you cover that is missed in short videos.
I like the uncut long format. I actively speed up and slow down parts to suit me. Always appreciate your professionalism and teaching but this one was especially great, you got into a flow and really showed your skill, pragmatism and problem solving. Many thanks, appreciate you keeping the standard of professionalism high.
Like how you're always cleaning up. "A clean workplace, is a happy workplace."
Wilmington, NC. Great video. I don't roof at all, just a homeowner. But there is satisfaction in watching someone who really knows their trade.
Watching from Jacksonville, Florida.
Never worked in a roof before so it is fascinating seeing you do this so fast and efficiently. Stay safe.

Keep watching and learning everyday. Before you know it. It'll be time for retirement.

I love the uncut. The whole job. This is perfect
The attention to detail is incredible
Your video is one of a handful of videos I've watched from beginning to end. You shared great roof repair information. From Norco, CA. Thank you.
Uncut raw footage is my vote. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Watching the techniques repeatedly done helps to understand and build confidence. So full length videos are good for people such as yourself that are good at training through practical exercise demonstration. Nice work, thanks.

Kudos to this home owner who was smart enough to hire you. What brand is the caulk gun that you use?
Very helpful Video, thanks from Crystal River, FL

Full video was great
Good video, Reno Nevada
I like this format, if you go shorter, just reference a longer one of a similar issue on a similar roof.
I have a different roof, i have a 110 year old craftsman bungalow with concave over hangs I need to fix :-/
Nice trick with the hose connector, new to me.also guys don't skimp on your caulking guns, pays to get better ones!thx bryan!.

Just starting to battle the contractor as they are on a different planet as far as repairs go.

Wish you were in MN 🍻
Was it a full new roof replacement? What did they end up doing wrong?
Good video brotha

Bro don’t short yourself/your company. That’s premium quality repair. Should be around $900/ $1,200

Yes, looked like it started right there. The wood was dipping down and was getting worse overtime.
@ Crazy timing I’m literally watching your latest steep roof repair video lol
I appreciate your videos! Do you recommend GeoCell 4500 for sealing galvanized metal seams? Or is something else better? I'm looking for white or clear tubes. Thanks!
