FYI. the service manual says to give it 20 turns of the cap to load the spring properly. Also the screw on the side is not a set screw, just a cap. Remove that, install a longer screw to hold the adjuster in place.
Thanks man I have an arctic cat snowmobile 4stroke t660 touring with the same thing but it's not going forwards or backwards just making lil noises inside chain case drive box
Can you just run the tensioner all the way in by hand. Then put in the center piece and spring. Then put on the cap, then spin the cap clockwise 10 or so times before you put in the screws?
Hey Kevin. I don't suppose you can answer a question for me. I put my chaincase back together today and when I put the auto tensioner in I wasn't sure how tight to go with it before installing it and letting it automatically tighten up. I've been looking it up seeing guys say you should put it in loose and let it do the tightening. Should I open it back up and loosen it?

Yup
Thanks for this, I noticed that the set screw was waaay to short. Problem solved.
You could spin the cover a couple times to put some more tension on the spring
Thanks for the video. I was wondering how to check the adjustment on my T660. Looks like I don't need to after all. Nice to know how it works.
