Great video. You showed every step. An idiot could clean and repair a carb with this video. Not like those other videos where a person talks about his sled for 28 minutes and shows how to fix it in the last 2 minutes.
Thanks for this video! You did a great job on this. Great explanations as you worked through the steps. Great camera setup and zoom ins. Much appreciated.
About where I'm at now with a newly aquired old Cat! ...Though I've done it a zillion times as a snowmobile service tech for 42 yrs......now retired!...sort of!!
Thank you! I don’t right now. I just make videos on stuff I’m doing to fix other peoples stuff and that hasn’t needed done yet. I’m sorry. I appreciate that tho!
This forum has some good info! Looks like it works hand in hand with the thumb throttle switch so make sure your slide isn’t stuck open www.snowmobileforum.com/threads/magnetic-carb-switches.3542/
I’m working on the same carburetor and mine leaks fuel from that little bung as you said at the bottom of the fuel bowl. I’ve been searching online for a while now and can’t fine anything that will work to close that line. Do you happen to know what it is called or where I can find something like that? I’ve searched up fuel bowl bung and get nothing.
I searched the sled and found a website that listed oem part numbers then put that part number into Amazon. I haven’t tried this part but for $10 I’d try it amzn.to/3VK6RhX
Question, do you have to have that little clip for the needle because I don't and I'm wondering if that's my issue if you do, could you send me a link to one please and thank you.
And I have the exact same on mine I have a 1996 puma 340 I almost got it going, but I just need to figure out some carb issues and I never did clean out my needle seat. I probably should do that. And I think I need to get a hose like that for mine because it's just open it it's drips fuel out.

Most needles do have the clip but it’s not a big deal because yours was designed to work without it. It also looks like your needle doesn’t have a rubber tip it’s all metal. So I would make sure the seat is really clean. If there’s and crap in there where it seats it won’t be able to seal off the flow of fuel. The rubber ones seem to be a little more forgiving lol Not sure what hose you’re talking about? 🤔 the overflow fuel lines?
Great video dude! I finally got my sled running! I followed it step by step, when I put them back in and started it, something is coming out of those vent lines like crazy, is that normal?
I’d say that’s definitely not normal 🤔 it’s possible the needle and seats aren’t seating but the way the vent lines are routed it would fill the motor I think before it came out of the vent line.
Some sleds from the factory have each carb jetted differently on purpose due to heat difference on each side. If they’re jetted the same and the bodies are identical I wouldn’t think it would matter!
As long as the jets are the same it’s ok if you swap them but if one is different that the other you should do some home work and figure out which jet went on which side
A master class on how TH-cam videos should be. No BS, just clear and concise video and explanation. New subscriber.
I try to keep things that way. I hate watching videos with too much talking and not enough showing.

😂 that’s the point! I want anyone to be able to do this stuff. I’m glad you appreciated it!
The emulsion tube? I've had that hole on intake side of carb and tube plugged, nice video other than that!😊
Thanks for this video! You did a great job on this. Great explanations as you worked through the steps. Great camera setup and zoom ins. Much appreciated.
Thank you!! This is why I do it! 🤘
Great video, gave me the confidence to pull mine out and give them both a clean tomorrow, thanks !
Get yourself a ultrasonic cleaner . they work wonders on carb parts ... great video ...
I’ve got one but only use it on carbs that bust my berries 😂 98% of the time carb cleaner and compressed air have worked for me. I’m glad it helped!
Great video, polishing the needle seat is a must, learned the hard way 😂
Get it all back together just to watch gas pour out of it and do it again 😂
I take a Q-tip, cut it in two and stick the shaft in a drill. Dip it in Brasso and use that to polish the inside of the seat. Rinse with carb cleaner.
Thanks so much. Super helpful.
My float pin retainer caps are GONE hahaha.
😂😂 that’ll cause an issue
Excellent video! Thank you
Awesome video!!! 🌟

Nice!
Thank you
I have a1995 skidoo 440 touring , do you have a video of replacing a rotor? Your videos are very helpful
Thank you! I don’t right now. I just make videos on stuff I’m doing to fix other peoples stuff and that hasn’t needed done yet. I’m sorry. I appreciate that tho!
When reassembling the two carburetors back onto the machine, do you attach the fly wheel carb first?
I did so you have more room to work on it!
What is the purpose of the carburetor safety switch? When i connect it the ignition shuts down.

No need to clean the idle screw?
Nope!
Great video by the way 👌🏻

@@ToyShopRestorations any suggestions where I should look, or what I can do?
@@ToyShopRestorations I watched your video again and think maybe I put the float fingers on upside down, does that sound like it could be the cause?
Do you HAVE to put the carbs back to the same side? I have my two carbs and two top cylinders off because I’m replacing gaskets. Thanks

Can you use brake cleaner instead of carb cleaner ?
I don’t see why not 🤷🏻♂️ I feel like carb cleaner is cheaper than brake cleaner so I always use that. But if that’s all you have laying around sure!
easy for you my free
It is easy! Go slow and stay organized!
the cougar airbox boots suck balls to get back on
Ya not all of them are this easy lol I've had some doozeys
