In the game the hunters revolted because Fedra kept cutting rations. When they revolted and won they lost the wider resources that Fedra had (who was having problems getting food)so the supply sittiation probably got worse likely leading to them becoming a raiding economy.

So I was living in Eugene, OR, at the beginning of the pandemic, and one of the big concerns the city had was what to do about the homeless population because many times large groups could form in different areas. So they come up with the great idea to try to get all of the homeless into the fair grounds. So basically, taking some very vulnerable people and sticking everyone in one area rather than leaving small groups and individuals alone. It didn't ultimately pan out, but let's just say that I 100% buy that the government would try to bring everyone from outlying towns into cities during an infectious outbreak

@@CarneDeBlaQ Depends on what car you use the fuel with, I guess. Some cars - particularly older ones - are much more sturdy than newer models. My dads old car was running perfectly fine, even when we mixed a few liters of cooking oil into the diesel fuel due to high gas prices. His new car would probably break down completely if we even poured just half a liter of cooking oil into the tank.
Still, 5 years and 20 years is a huge difference, so the fuel in The Last Of Us definitely would have been degraded to the point of being completely useless.

    • @CarneDeBlaQ
      @CarneDeBlaQ ปีที่แล้ว +14

@Luzilyo Stormchild diesel vehicles are completely different. And I'd be very surprised if a modern diesel didn't also run happily on cooking oil.
Researching gasoline, it looks like the main cause of spoilage is oxidization. Which requires exposure to oxygen. Gas tanks are, mostly, well sealed. They have to be, as required by emissions laws. The evaporated fuel is vented back into the engine to be burned. Seems like a well sealed vessel could slow down or stop the spoilage. I'm not saying it will last 20 years but at the least it looks like gas life is more circumstantial and less a hard rule of 6months to a year.

yeah, a lot of people are talking about how it's dumb writing - but the episode is all about how love can skew your priorities. if Bill never met Frank, he'd be safer - but he'd be the bitter old bastard we met in the game. in the show, he cares so much about Frank that, through either deliberately making himself a target to draw fire or just being so scared of losing Frank, he does something stupid.

I think we've got to remember that Joel was at best a casual gun owner before the outbreak. In the game he has an unloaded wheelgun in a lockbox, in the show he's never seen with a gun at all in 2003. He's a competent shooter, Tommy most definitely taught him some stuff, but he has no professional background. Shit hit the fan wayyyy back in early GWoT before a lot of tactical coolguy culture seeped into the general cultural consciousness. Shit like muzzle orientation and trigger discipline, even if they're part of the big 4 safety rules, weren't really something most people understood because it wasn't what they saw in movies or TV. And folks have been smoking each other longgggg before anybody gave a damn about trigger discipline.

I've had MS for nearly 30 years. I'll be 50 next month and, thankfully, have very little disability from it. The initial episode was optical neuritis which led to scar tissue on the optic nerve, causing loss of vision in the centre field of my left eye. I also have bouts of spasticity if I strain too much e.g. if I reach to scratch my back, my arm muscles will continue stretching and won't stop until I physically force them to by moving them in the opposite direction. It's really weird.
Anyway, other than that, no one would know I have it (and sometimes I forget lol). I don't know how long ago you were dx, but I wanted you to know that it's not automatically the worst case scenario as the Drs suggested to me. ❤️

@@CornOfTheBreads All cases are different, this disease is a real roll of the dice. Some get lucky like nollypolly, others not so much. I was diagnosed back in 2016, with a whole host of weird things that I had been ignoring such as multicoloured vision in my left eye (like everything was covered in oil), a sun burn type feeling all over half of my body, and finally my left leg that decided it didn't want to work + kept moving itself without me feeling it move.
As of today, my MRIs are stable, I took a lot of damage early doors but after treatment the disease's visual progress has been slowed. That said, as the years have gone by, it has progressed inch by inch. Bladder and bowel troubles, being useless trying to do anything above head height (such as screwing in a lightbulb), a pronounced limp that appears when I start doing any physical activity, and I have developed a sort of fatalistic view that in another ten years I may well be in trouble.
I'm not physically degraded, I still do everything as I always have, and as far as the state is concerned I wouldn't be considered disabled, but the small annoyances are mounting and are gradually making their mark. For example, if I have to drive anywhere more than half an hour away, I wont drink for hours before I get into the car, and I'll pop a couple of anti-diarhea pills just to ensure nothing hilarious happens - I've had many close calls, and some incidents.
Its a disease that you will probably have found is easy to ignore, and like nollypolly says, you will forget you have it sometimes. And then one day you'll wake up in a puddle of your own urine and spend the morning thinking about Frank.

I assume his generator is like mine and can run on gas or propane. Episode 3 is one of the best damn episodes of television I've ever seen. They attack Elle and Joel because they think they're the people they've been fighting, and they don't have time to ask questions. They are not filler episodes, three is world building and character development as well as establishing where Joel gets the car from, and four is also world building and character development and the plot moving forward. Filler is episodes that contribute absolutely nothing and can be completely skipped without missing anything. Frank reminded me a lot of my step mom who had MS so I just assumed that's what it is.

Or why not add 30 mins and make a movie about em? I would watch or their own show. Maybe they'll get it. Was it for awards? I think so. Because there is no other reasons. I can say it was the best gay couple I've ever seen wrote and enjoyed it. There might be better gay characters in books I've read but not shows or movies. I mean maybe if the next episode would have had a BUNCH of action or story but it really didn't. Making it even odder. I don't no, I guess I'm just confused about it. I kept thinking one would survive because of all the development and time they were getting and then it was like, "they're dead now move on".

@@dont-touch-mepg1392 The thing that most people who hate on EP3 seem to miss is that it's completely canon. The Last Of Us is a story about human survival. That's always what the games have always been about. How humans adapt, cope, survive, and die in the apocalypse. Hence the name. It's not "The Slaying Of Zombies" or "Big Bang Boom Zombie Killer Squad". It's about those of us who are left.
So given another shot at expanding the story he wrote, Neil Druckmann wrote another tale about human survival, but it just so happened to be an expanded story around characters that he himself said he wished he could have gone into more detail with in TLOU1. This was his shot to tell that story in full. But instead of a messy breakup, he said "fuck it, what if two people had a happy, healthy relationship/life in the end of the world? What would that even look like, while the rest of the world is barely struggling to survive?" and in the end, they died together peacefully instead of one hanging himself and the other living alone and going nuts. EP3 is one of the most "The Last Of Us"-style stories there is. There was plenty of action, tension, drama, and tragedy. It was perfect imo.
It also did give us more backstory for Tess and Joel, moved the plot along with the car battery, supplies, and guns, and gave Ellie and Joel new perspective and understanding in their relationship. Was it a lot of just Bill and Frank? Yes. But Joel and/or Ellie still took up 30% of the screen time in the episode. Plenty else happened, but people seem to forget that.
Shame some people can't just see good storytelling and universe-building and enjoy it for what it is. Nobody ever said it would be a 1:1 recreation of the game. If you don't like what they're doing with it, play the game. But I trust the guy who created the game to tell the story how he wants to. It's his story after all.

@@YungStinkyWinky I think it's just a lack of emotional maturity. I've seen too much of it in a certain subset of capital G Gamer types, and it results in endless bitching and whining on a weekly basis about something new. Someone is too black, or too gay, or too female, or not female enough, or not manly enough, on and on and on. Similarly, I think that's at the core of the hatred of the second game. I have yet to hear a single valid criticism of it, it's always something arbitrary, factually inaccurate, misunderstood, or people just conflating "I didn't like it" with "it's objectively bad." Like, how many years of the Walking Dead (and Telltale Games, especially!) do we need before people understand that important, main characters die in an apocalypse situation? And they're surprised Joel died? And the whole "this or that didn't move the story forward" thing makes no sense whatsoever unless someone is not understanding anything about the point of the games and show.

Southern Australia, "sun goes down earlier" we are currently having 14 hours of sunlight a day. The days are now starting to get shorter because we are coming out of summer, but obviously they were longer. So 15+ hours a day of sunlight, as "relatively speaking" the sun rose around 5am we'd be heading into 30°c, hit mid 40°c, sometimes high 40's into the early arvo. Then the evening reprieve kicks in around 9:30pm giving us a chilly 23°c for some nookie in the pool before bed.
I always prefer to stay at the beach shack during summer, because 4:30pm the onshore cool breeze would kick in. The shack along the Murray River is also nice because the river very, very rarely gets warm. But this year the river is not behaving and we're having a flood of epic proportions leaving the boat shed under water and given another 1.5 metres it will be a tad damp for getting those annoying day-to-day things done around the place. But on the bright side, our bed will be floating around the shop, so pool nookie can transition into bed like the normal boring adults that we are.

Also I know the show's set in a world with 2003 tech etc, but MS meds are pretty effective at slowing the progression of the disease while ALS unfortunately has no such medicine. I have to defend the storytelling as regards siting QZs in former cities. Sire, it might be riskier, but there are good reasons to do so.
Consider: post-apocalypse, one of the key tasks of any government will be to ensure adequate production of necessities, from weapons through textiles to medicine. And, of course, this also means producing the industrial goods necessary for that capacity. For a substantial amount of time post-apocalypse, you probably won’t be in a position to manufacture very large-scale or complicated industiral equipment, which may not be easily moveable. That means you need to bring people to existing plants. Basically, if you need to produce pharmaceuticals, large amounts of steel, etc., you have to locate workers in places with pre-existing capacity (particularly considering transport links are likely both shit and dangerous).

I was born and raised in Topeka, KS where my parents worked as state archeologists. I have been to just about every corner of KS (as well as a decent amount of western MO) and I can tell you that the geography is a lot more varied than you think. Now I live in OH and central/western OH is more flat than eastern KS. Additionally, every time I drive back to KS to visit family (totally agree that road trips can be way more fun than flying), I literally take the same interstate (I70) that they drive in the show. I was impressed with how accurate they got the landscape.
Usually, TV shows & movies show heartland more like the San Fernando valley in CA. I swear the big bridge they drive over in the show is the same one I cross when crossing the Mississippi River near St. Louis.
Just to remind everybody, about an hour south of Kansas City, MO are the Ozark Mountains. They aren't huge, but they are pretty decent hills. It's that kind of rolling hills all the way into central KS where you hit the Flint hills (which are absolutely BEAUTIFUL in spring around sunset). It doesn't really get flat until you get to Colby, KS out in western KS. The only reason why people think KS is more flat than Iowa/Indiana is because in western KS (the flattest part of the state) you can see for miles because of the lack of trees.

It deepens my relationship with the characters and makes everything they go through more impactful to watch. I do feel like there is such a thing as filler. Filler is what happens when mediocre writers try to express profound things about human nature, it usually feels very contrived and shallow. I agree. Staying in cities looks a bit weird. Also in cities the infected can use f.e. the underground infrastructure. Camps with fences around would be better.
How could that look like? I would like to see something like that in such shows or movies:
You can have a central point for supply for the people with a street and some kind of military post, a "main building" for supplies and logistic, a place where people can gather, an entrance point and a higher position for commander.
If it's a bit like roman camps, and if you want to be able to support a unit with just a few trucks per week, you would have around 1.500 people on 200m + 200m. A fence around. In the middle is something for logistics and medicine, and a point where trucks can stop.
You could sperate that in smaller 8 units with 150- 200 people, where the containers form a wall, a square, and 2 points to enter and leave, with a gate. 2 rows of containers, ~35 outside, ~20 inside, around a central square and building, where the food is.
They could have 8 of the 1.500 people camps like a square, 50 meters in between each of them, and in the middle a command post, supply post, barracks, other buildings, maybe even a generator or another source of energy, or 9 of that with 1 logistical hub and buildings in front, and a wall around all of that, and would have a save area, maybe 800m x 800m, maybe 800m x 1.000m, with around 12.000 people, maybe more, 3.5km walls, a tower every 50 meter, 250 soldiers, a few big trucks and vehicles.
They could set up multiple of such camps nearby, maybe even 2 next to each other, or 4 in a square, on the major street from a nearby a cleared, smaller town as main supply and military hub, with railways and so on.
4 would be around 50k people, save and organized in an area around 2km x 2km, with a 8km wall, with something like a cleared, empty strip, hundreds of meters around the camp.
The camp would be outside a town, that can support that many people with railways and infrastructure, buildings for storage and so on. 50k in such a small area should be possible for a smaller town.
The diameter of the urban area of a town with 10k people usually is around 2.5km to 3.5km. They could clear that, a few thousand buildings, could secure the center with the railroad station, and could have multiple camps around that, if the infrastructure of the town allows that. F.e. if it has a port.
If you go 1 or 2 km from the town, and have there such 50k people units on a major road that leaves the town, maybe even some more, or the 12k people units, on other, major roads, if the town allows it.
You could have multiple camps with 12k/~25k or 50k people each, with walls, around a single town, depending on it's infrastructure. It could be up to 200k people, if there is a big railroad station, a port and big streets.
A few 10k to 200k people in an area with around 5km - 10km in diameter. The area would be 30 - 100 squarekilometers. A wall around everything would be 20 - 40 kilometers, but they just could have a big fence and detectors 1km or 2km from town and camps, mainly for warning, and mobile units to defend the area.
You would need different types of camps for logistics, supply, military and government, but i really would like to see something like that in movies and shows.
Not that they just stay in huge cities, not that they are just a few hundred people in small camps somewhere, but that they leave the cities, clear certain towns with good infrastructure, and build multiple, big camps, with tens of thousands of people, split up in smaller camps and units, with a town nearby.
Just like a big army would do it, where you have tens of thousands of soldiers, sometimes even more, in just a single or few camps directly at the frontline.
A modern division is 10k - 20k soldiers. Multiple divisions make an army. Usually they manage the logistics for an army from a small town and the headquarter. It's much harder than for civilians.
So the military could set up such camps, where ~100k civilians, protected by a few thousand soldiers, survive in a few, big camps with walls around a cleared, small town in a protected, small area, in a pretty short time period.
From the outside, infected would have a hard time to attack the camps walls, or to reach the town, because there would be a fence with sensors. Even, if there is an outbreak in a part of a camp, there would be fences and walls, so it couldn't get out of control that easily. It would be an efficient short term solution.
Imo something like that, bigger than the camps they usually show, and more reasonable than just staying in a big, chaotic city and f.e. building a wall around that, would be interesting to see.
Something where they really have a lot of survivers, and they really try to protect them, and have a real chance that it works 🤷‍♂️

I mean the rock stacking was obviously a “grave” for Tess right. Anyone else heard “stacking up rocks by the water”. Several songs like it and can be for god or grave

For the scrapping sound, did you check the wheel bearings? had similar problem with a Toyota tundra. Couldn't found the scraping sound, check for everything that would rotate or cause that kind of sound, till one day by chance found the noise coming from the driver rear wheel bearing.

I just saw you re-uploaded this so I’m going to throw my comment back in. Have you checked your brakes? I got some air in mine after changing them a few months ago, and it caused that same noise. I bled them multiple times and it never got better. Ended up having to bleed the ABS pump. The only other things I can think of would be wheel bearings, rotors, or you’re actually rubbing(if you up sized your wheels and tires) and might need a trim. Hope that helps, man.

Okay, my theory was that Frank was getting low dosages of Cordyceps from eating toast. Not enough to infect him; but just enough to affect his motor skills. Cordyceps spreading along the neurological system, not taking over -- but slowly making it so that he would no longer have control over his limbs.
A minor version of Tess losing control of her body as Cordyceps spread after her infection. At least that's where I thought they were going when talking about Cordyceps in the grains, and Frank asking for toast on his last day.

If the rubbing noise is only when the wheel is moving then its very likely a bearing.
