    Josh, I have to say this series is the best series of videos you have ever put out. I mainly play the IGL role in my team. I've watched every vid so far and I also make my team members watch these vids to have them get a feel for what I'm trying to do in game
    So thank you very much for these!

    i love how this applies to 100T in val. asuna is, very obviously, an aggressive rifler; and dicey is obviously a passive awper/ rifler. so fun to see that steel has kept the same philosophy through different games, buddy system and all.

    This was really helpful. I find this aimer-vs-positional player thing occurs a lot in games I play in and it's really hard to figure out where to put people.
    The only issue I have is sometimes controlling aimers when you send them on a push. Often times I'll ask a couple of guys if they can push an area to get a pick, but when they get the pick they keep pushing and get themselves traded rather than falling back to a more passive position.

    What to you think about JW?
    He is clearly overly aggressive but I believe he is also very disciplined.
    2 easiest examples is when he pushed cat vs TSM to get the mid pick and jumping back to CT immediately. The other being pushing the moli but running back immediately. Would you consider (of course looking into his overall play) him for you disciplined?

    • @jamrah8713
      @jamrah8713 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 years late but that's called calculated aggression. An aggressive player is vital in alot of teams to rely on to get that early info or important pick

    Yo Steel thanks for the amazing Videoseries, i have a question tho, im usually the guy who calls the strats when i play with a bunch of friends and im not only the igl but also a good lurker, is it ok for me to be the guy who sits outside b if we would use this default and look for save openings or picks when the enemies rotate of so im kinda in an IGL/Lurker position or should i be with the pack of 3 so i know whats going on with the bomb and such? Greetings from Austria :)

    As a question would you say it would be sensible to use an aggressive playstyle if the two largest fraggers are aggressive but the rest like to play a slower approach

  • @MrDdddddd1
    @MrDdddddd1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    near the end of your video u said that it could be right to put your mad fraggers in the anchor position, and it was dependant on many things such as the map or team you're playing against, but you gave no examples to support your point. could you go more into detail about that?

    Like everything there's pros and cons, with aggressive players, and passive players there are pros and cons. However, most aggressive players are looked at as "puggers/scimmers". How do you suggest changing a play style, from a hyper aggressive main awp / hybrid to a more passive all around player? For example when I see an aim duel 9/10 I will take the duel, trying to limit myself or have some self control.

    Can you give an in-game example of the rock-paper-scissor analogy? For instance, what set-up is inherently a counter to another?

    • @Spacemonkeymojo
      @Spacemonkeymojo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +PooPooPerson I can answer this. If someone has set up their team using the Rock strategy, a counter to this would be to use the Paper strategy to win.

    • @PooPooPerson
      @PooPooPerson 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    On overpass for CT side, I was thinking that since I have such an aggressive entry fragger he could go B with me, watch for rush, if there isn't one push to water. Then, I play the AWPer trying to pick that every few rounds or holding long, and a guy bathroom and one for connector. Would this be decent?

    • @ehliotharlovheyrier5079
      @ehliotharlovheyrier5079 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you send multiple people over at B and if you have a guy connector holding the door push (theres an insanely OP pixel angle to see if someone peaks or goes for the door, or he might use a molotov) you can take short instantly at the beggining of the round with proper utility.
      You are talking about more of a "retake short" play, which can be done like that, tho i prefer doing that with 2 guys connector and a guy B because short gets way more T-sided when connector is already taken (even part of it with a smoke) the aggressive guy and the awp going connector in that strat seems good to me.
      (just figure you asked that 2 y ago, but hey someone might read that)

    So i have a team and we are just playing for fun, we are roughly nova 2 combined. Me and my brother have many hours on the game compared to the others. i am the igl and primary awper, my brother is a rifler but if comfortable on the awp. one of my teammates is very aggressive but is new to the game and has a low skill level compared to the rest of us, i then have 2 other teammates who dont have the best game sense and are still learning spray patterns ect. i can play very well when i don't have to think about other people's roles/postitons on the map but am by far the best caller due to experience and instincts. One of the final 2 players likes to play with the awp but is not very good. We occasionally try double awp setups but i struggle to use their full potential becuase there are few places in which he feels comfortable. Part of my struggles may just be that people at this rank don't really try to play inelegantly and try to do executes ect. I really need to organise proper strats for various maps but i feel like the main problem is that sometimes my teammates will call "they are all b" when they only see 2 for instance. Also my really aggressive player does not say a lot during the game and this is really difficult for me because obviously he is the person getting info early on in the round. Is it best for example, on overpass, i use my brother as an anchor on one site because his calls are good and he also has a higher level of skill than my other teammates, or do i play with him on the same site/area of the map because we play well together? i would not feel as comfortable leaving a different teammate on the site solo however because they make mistakes and wouldnt be able to stay alive for long enough. I would usually play at toilet awping fountain and also go for those agressive peaks at party. Should i put my very agressive player up long so he can push up and try to get picks? i would then use my suppport player as one of the newer players that is patient and can hold off angles so i can concentrate on my crosshair. Early round i would send 2 players b and 2 mid 1 long, use my agressive player as the rotate player and then i can have my support player watching long from an off angle inside toilets. Is this the correct way to play a default round? If you have any suggestions i would love to hear them.

      +SoullessPyre Not support, support needs to be one of your best players. It is hard to play with a lower skill level player. Your IGL needs to be smart, your lurker needs to be smart, your awper has to have good aim, your support and entry also have to have good aim. I might say entry sense the entry is kind of bait, but at the same time the entry is very important lol. Just play around and see what fits him best on the team :]

    • @ehliotharlovheyrier5079

      Entry fragger basically means you like going in first when taking map control or executing bombsites, but you don't have to always be pushin / always be first contact in case they retake the zone you took... etc.
      so if you die taking zones you can easily lead, if you don't die then you are the first guy so you calling the shots will ensure noone is pushing too far for your plan, and that you always see firsthand what their defense is on the pushes you took. Plus everyone should be enabled to call midround in a team, you just have the final word.
      In the end it will bring a style to your team that a team with a more lurkish IGL might not have and again its rock papers scisors

      peaking their AWPer mid/ pushing to mid with some utility usage and taking fights from around Xbox like kennyS does sometimes/ retaking long late-round after a more passive beggining/playing around cat/ pushing into B tunnels with the help of a teammate/watching it early from Xbox/. Basically playing everywhere on the map and being unpredictable at the beggining of the round. You can also go take early shots in a zone and then insta-rotate to another zone and always make them worry about an awper flying around the map that they cannot predict
