I worked in the engineering department at a large US company. In one of the storage areas was an old wooden crate. I was tasked with labeling clearly all the items in the storage area. I did not know what was in the crate and it was buried behind and under other things so I could not open it. I ended up stenciling on it "1834 Arctic Expedition" and called it good. I no longer work there so I don't know if anyone found it and if they did if they understood the reference.
Agreed! That was my introduction to Ted Danson as well. I never started watching Cheers until it was already into several seasons. So he’ll always be “Harry” to me and not Sam.
I agree. It was nice to see movie makers use models, puppets, and real effects, rather make everything CGI, which I feel is an easy way out. Filmmakers need to look to these movies of this era.
I always assumed the “meteor” episode was based on the lovecraft story... (recently a nick cage movie)... but I guess technically Stephen king made a short adaptation of it
The BEST. I honestly get sad when I see a cgi that would make an amazing “practical effect”. I respect it so much! The hours and meticulous work. I think about ppl who would make fun of old special effects, how they don’t consider the effort that was put in! Not easy! And you have to have great creativity!
My first ever horror movie experience actually and still one of the greatest in my opinion. This is where my love for all things horror and metal began. Yes if it wasn't for this movie I would have never began my journey into the dark side haha. It's kinda cool to trace back the things that first inspired your lifes journey though. This was one of the most long lasting and important ones for me turns out.
I got to meet AND Hang out with Tom some years back at a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Con in Milwaukee Wis. and he was just SO FREAKIN' COOL to talk with! In FACT... I came BACK the next day with my entire "WereWolf" costume JUST For Tom and he LOVED IT! He gave me a few tips to improve it but said I had a "GREAT EYE For HORROR and MONSTERS!" THAT Was SUCH an Awesome Compliment from one of the All Time GREATS! :D
I can personally vouch for Leslie Neilsen's fart machine. Every Xmas, the radio station where I worked in Phoenix, AZ would put on a live version of A Christmas Carol for charity. One year (mid 90's I think), Mr. Neilsen was our special guest star. Backstage he would walk around the green room firing off that fart machine and try to blame it on somebody next to him- usually a woman. He was hilarious, friendly to everyone, and had such an easy charm about him. One of the great guys of the world. He lit up a room.
Loved this when I was young and it’s still probably the best horror anthology film. Just recently watched tales from the dark side movie again and it was still great too.
Loved it. Saw it at the cinema in '82 and when the roaches happened, you would have though the audience was being killed. You don't hear screaming like that very often. 10/10
I'm not sure what version of creepshow you watched, but they did show Ted Danson drowning underwater. It wasn't just in the comic book. Twas live action as well. Just FYI.
I was also waiting for someone to mention this and actually my pops saw that when we ....rented a VCR and rented”Creepshow” back in 1983 (remember when you could rent a whole VCR for the weekend?) my father was really good at catching stuff like that. Anyway great comments you are Def a diehard Creepshow fan
Wow. I was just about to make this comment myself. It's such a campy but unsettling scene. Shows the vulnerability of the character, just in case you were still laughing because Leslie Nielsen was the antagonist.
Thank for posting this! This movie actually scared me when I first watched it as a kid. I love all the facts you dig up about classic movies!! Keep up the great work!!!
the music from creepshow and dawn of the dead were 2 of the best horror soundtracks in horror movie history. george romero really nailed the music in the those 2 movies.
I love Creepshow as well. It is a bit dated - but, oh my, is it fun!! I agree there should be more anthology horror films today. It's a great format. Love your videos, Minty. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
Always a fantastic start to the day with Minty and tea. Made even better by being a video on one of my favorite horror movies, Creepshow. A little sad the sequels weren't touched on, but that's a minor thing. Two meteor mess covered thumbs up.
"Meteor Shit!" - Stephen King Love it! The best author in the world. Maybe the death or experience in the story would have been more comfortable if the weed would have made him high.
4:30 = Leslie Nielson had this device for decades, added with an easily inflatable "whoopie Cushion" having the same effect. It is a staple identifier of him wherever he went, publically + in his average day of at-home accomodations. His tombstone in Fort Lauderdale’s historic Evergreen Cemetery reads “Let ‘er rip.” The actor, well known for his roles in “Airplane” and “The Naked Gun,” had a low-key retirement in Fort Lauderdale before his death on November 28, 2010 at the age of 84. Savini being a Vietnam combat vet who was witness to REAL gore helped him in his depictions created for the screen. Movie used to creep me out as a kid when it was on HBO but now I love it.
I read somewhere that he was actually supposed to be involved with the original Night of the Living Dead but his service in Vietnam got in the way of that. I think he was a combat photographer or something like that.
I agree, Minty. I thoroughly enjoyed horror anthology movies. I wish they'd make a comeback. Tales from the Darkside had one as well that starred the deliciously yummy Debbie Harry.
I also did love the Crypt Keeper. I can't even look at those roaches or I will scratch myself for a day! I saw it in the cinema the first time. It's Nostalgia for me and I'd love to see it again.
William Marold such an under rated movie. Too bad it it was released the same summer as The Lost Boys. I personally think its better and I do LOVE me some Lost Boys!

"Creepshow"(1982) is an excellent horror movie! This is one of the best horror anthologies movies of all time for sure!

One of the best things about Creepshow is the incredible music. Definitely a highlight of the film.

I literally just watched CreepShow 1 and 2 over the weekend. Opened TH-cam and here we are 😁
Leslie Nielsen was still known for being a serious actor during this movie. Airplane had to be his first comedic role.

TheLocutus70 yes, indeed, the future author of Horns!

Another good one, Minty! But they DO show Ted Danson's head under water in the movie, for what seems like quite a long time!
