He definitely had some extra energy for this rendition, and it appears to be his second to last song, so he’s already been at it for an hour. Phweew! ⚡️
I do like the ‘74 versions better than the ‘73 versions, but IMO his version from his concert in ‘74 at Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis is the best. This one, I think, is from the South Bend concert during the infamous Fall of ‘74 tour. Having listened to Elvis now for over 50 years and getting a sense of his personal condition that day based on his speech patterns, he sounds particularly amped up or “Speed”ed up here. Now that made for many excellent shows, but I’ve noticed it also CAN make for lengthy and rambling speeches, proclivity to swear on stage, and buoyant singing patterns and inflections. Regardless, he’s still the BEST singer and entertainer EVER! There’s been lots of pretenders, a few contenders….& one 👑 King!
You contradicted yourself.....an Amped up Elvis doesnt translate to a good blues song where the beat should be slower. The Aloha version is better than this.
I first heard this when i was 8 years old, the very first Elvis record my parents bought for me and played it over and over. This version is awesome. Love it
Not better than the Aloha version.....That version is the definite version of this song. This version has been sped up which is totally the opposite of what a good blues song should be.
Elvis at his best just cutting loose no rules no set lists just as he was meant be a god dam force of nature .... Wish he was still around ..think about this he would have been 50 when live Aid was on how cool would that have been ...
Even though the guitar and piano are nice and superclear I'd still love to hear the sweet inspirations coming earlier for other verses and the more relaxed tempo of the Aloha from Hawaii version is far better with every beat falling and the guitar giving the famous riff. But Elvis is fully *beast mode* here so that is why it ranks high.
I was skeptical when reading the title that this would really be the best live version... but it damn well could be, and if it isn't, it's easily one of the top few I've heard. Thanks for the upload!
The best live version he ever did was on Hawaii, the 14th 1973. Everything was perfect. Even the dress rehearsal show is better than your «best version»!
Elvis was so exhausted during the Hawaii concert. Sang amazing, but during most of 74 he found that spark again and had so much energy. Wish he could've held on to it and stayed in shape after 74
@Koletti Pireaus 1974 versions are barely shorter. Plus it’s a preference thing. Many consider Elvis’s Steamroller Blues performance from Memphis in 1974 to the best one he ever did. It’s not a fast song. Just slightly faster than Aloha by roughly 7 seconds.

@@johnclaba1457 The Aloha version was a sanitized blues song. Love this version.

Elvis is perfection!
Oh ya 👍
That's the best blues version. Elvis was a blues singer no doubt about it. Thank you to play this version of the song.

Il n'a jamais oublié d'où il vient, ce style musical c'est normal pour lui, comme d'autres genres d'ailleurs

There were great performers at Live Aid but all were below Elvis's caliber.

This is really intimate audio!
Great shouting at the end and James Burton trying to bend the strings.
Sooooo BLUESYYYYY 😍🕺🎸🎹🎺
Do you know how a blues song should sound? NO? Then listen to the Aloha version.
Brilliant - best version without doubt.

Way to play that guitar james burton!

Not. He was drugged out of his mind.
Depends on your opinion
Artemis Gordon He was not drugged outta his mind for Aloha From Hawaii. He actually cut back on taking as much and also had a 500 calorie a day diet.
Elvis was so exhausted during the Hawaii concert. Sang amazing, but during most of 74 he found that spark again and had so much energy. Wish he could've held on to it and stayed in shape after 74
Michael Arvizu He was doing coke in ‘74. Listen to the summer engagement in Vegas to hear what that sounds like.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The version from 1974 in Richmond and Memphis is better I think.
No way! Aloha
Play it blue james
I prefer the Aloha version. Thus is too fast and 'thin'. The 73 one is heavier.
@Koletti Pireaus Imo, most 1974 versions are much better than Aloha. This one was alright. The March 1974 renditions are a lot better in my opinion.
@@FortunateDegree after Aloha all versions of Steamroller Blues were rushed. You DONT rush a blues song. That is what makes the Aloha versions better.
@Koletti Pireaus this particular version is roughly 14 seconds shorter. The one from March 1974 is around 7 seconds shorter.
@Koletti Pireaus tempo is almost certainly correlated to the length of the song, if it’s the same song with no added verses.
College Park 74?
South Bend Indiana October 1974
@@kevinhoffman8112 that's from the Dragon heart cd isn't it?
Hahahaha, smiles, cementmixer? I misss u but...
No. The 73 Aloha version is hands down better than this. Here, Elvis sounds tired.
I agree but he doesn't sound tired

This is not the best live version sry.
is not the best version
I’m not really sure this is Elvis?
It...is you can easily know
If you're not sure than you sure as hell aren't familiar with much about him.
