    Story Summary :-
The narrator is a 31-year-old man who has just moved back to his hometown after a decade spent in another state. He and his brother drifted away in high school due to his brother icing him out, and their relationship never recovered over the last decade.
However, after being encouraged by his girlfriend, the narrator begins trying to mend things with his brother. He thinks he’s making progress when his brother comes over to watch soccer and have a drink, but it’s really just an opener for him to ask the narrator for money to buy his fiancée an expensive necklace for their wedding that the narrator didn’t know about.
When the narrator declines to give his brother any money, his brother waits for him to leave on a work trip before stealing and selling his car. The brother leaves a letter explaining that he will pay the narrator back once he’s married to his rich fiancée and able to use her money as he pleases, but the narrator uses the letter to go to the police and get the brother arrested.
The narrator then crashes his brother’s wedding with the cops in tow and exposes the brother in front of all his guests. His fiancée dumps him and her father yells at him, which prompts the brother to attack the narrator in a fit of rage. The officers present to separate the narrator and his brother and arrest the brother for theft and aggravated assault. The brother goes to jail and the narrator is ultimately able to get his car back.

Sounds like your brother peaked in high school, and couldn't overcome it. You seem to have evolved as time progressed. Those who peak in high school have difficulty adjusting and progressing.
Regardless of circumstances, your brother was wrong for stealing from you. He sounds like he allowed immaturity and irresponsibility take over. Since he stole from you, I'd file a police report, establish a legal paper trail for theft, and a civil tort lawsuit for conversion.
He also sounds like a gigolo who doesn't want to work.

That parasite is a coward. He didn't answer op's calls because he knew op would tear into him. Typical that after his mom tore into him he refused any calls and refused to show his face. Plus to block op because he knew that op told their mom everything. He's also pretty dumb to think op wouldn't do anything about him stealing the car and more than likely expected the letter and money to stop op from doing anything, which again, was pure stupidity. Plus to leave a confession that was used as evidence to convict him of his crime. Also, it wasn't about him thinking op was looking down on him, more like he was jealous of his younger brother for skipping a grade for being so smart. He was used to being superior older brother to the point he couldn't stand that op was so smart to skip a grade. It was even more stupid to do that in attempt to show what he was, a golddigger. I'm not surprised that after him getting arrested by the cops at his, the wedding cancelled and hearing op getting praised he tried to physically attack op. Either he was embarrassed about his single working mom and tried to show he was better to impress his fiance or he knew his mom would be furious and stop him. Either way he really showed how vile he is. At least he was smart to plead guilty and not try to deny nor say he was the right which would have hurt him more. Good on mom for tearing into him again in court. Hopefully jail will do him some good and try to become a better person.

I was going to call out that phony claim too but forgot about it dealing with all the things wrong with the alleged car theft. If OP’s brother was being arrested then the first thing that would have happened would be him being put into handcuffs. He would not have been able to assault OP minutes after the wedding was crashed by the police and OP.

I was born in October. My mother told me that if I had been born two weeks later than I had, I would have had to wait a year to start school. (This is why a friend started school a year later than I did. She was born the following February.)

Jake thought his life was going to be played on easy mode and that ended with his injury in high-school. Never got over it. He knew that without a sports scholarship, he would have to actually work for everything instead of playing and partying and looking down his nose at everyone. Having a brother who actually puts in the work and was successive, just fueled his resentment at "what could have been ", and he started looking for get rich quick, by any means, to get where he thought he would have been, if not for the injury. He had no room within to actually care about anything or anyone else , but himself and his one desire, to be the best, to be on top, to glorified.

The brother was long distant from OP. Something in their relationship changed after their father died. I don't think that OP's brother actually sat himself down to determine what life goals he planned to envelop his life, other than the fact of marrying money. I also am wondering what OP's brother thought long hours to work were as well as how the compensation didn't match up with his worth? I have worked jobs where it wasn't necessarily the money I made from it, but the experience and friendships along the way. A job is a job, it is what you make of it that counts. You can't complain about aspects knowing fully what you were walking into. The only way to complain is if terms of the job changed and not for the best.

How in the hell did his friend register the car without ia pink slip?
If I bought a car for several thousand dollars, I would demand that the pink slip be given. In order to sell it, the owner would need to sign the title.
The only way this works is if the car wasn't registered & the friend applied for a missing title, and I can tell you from experience it takes a looot longer than three days to get a replacement.
But OP did say he drove back & forth to college, so did he have another car?
Don't get me wrong. I TOTALLY believe that the scum bag brother would steal his car. He had been planning to get the car for a while because he had already spoken to his friend about buying it. This was
before OP refused to lend/give $$ for the neckace.
I have 2 daughters, and I could easily believe the same scenario if it happened. The younger of the two is a complete user. She is always begging for money from anyone & everyone without one ounce of shame.
I had to have the younger one arrested once for her actions so I could totally relate to OP.

His brother allowed his big head from being really good in sports in high school to affect his relationship with his brother. He had high school status and look down on his little nerd brother. After high School he never wanted to rebuild his relationship with OP. You cannot build a relationship with only one person wants to do the work. His brother was lazy and was trying to find an easy life where he didn't have to work. I'm glad that he was able to stop the wedding so his brother did not ruin that girl's life.

Sorry but this definitely comes across as another phony baloney story. OP claims the car is his but never explains how that is the way the story gets told her. First its his father’s car, then OP’s uncle gets the car. Why would the uncle get the car if it wasn’t his in the first place? Either OP’s father willed the car to OP or he didn’t. If no will existed the car would have gone to OP’s mother. She could have sold it to her brother in law or given it to OP but again no explanation as how this car became OP’s. While I can buy the brother stealing a car I can’t buy him not selling it for parts as he would have had no ownership paperwork. If it were an otherwise legit sale and the buyer intended to actually drive the car it would have to have valid registration papers. We then move on to the part where OP allegedly traded the car buyer money for the car which is utter nonsense. If the car was in fact stolen property then the buyer had no claim to it whatsoever and OP certainly would owe nothing to car buyer. The money he would be out would be between him, OP’s criminal brother, and the justice system.

I'm sorry but I beg to differ. When you steal a car and sell it without OP's permission, yes you will be charged with a felony crime. Jake knew what he was doing and he wasn't stupid. Jake's actions caused his own demise. Period. End of story.
