    • @GhettoWrench
      @GhettoWrench  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @nicskeptic there is a rubber diaphragm inside vacuum fuel pumps. It is flat and between the 2 halves almost like a gasket. Most likely it is torn and leaking and gas is getting from the fuel side to the air side. You can replace it, but a new fuel pump may be just as cheap.

  • @Slane583
    @Slane583 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think the Nibbi carbs are popular because they're good quality for the money spent, they're not too cheap and they're not too expensive. Plus the red & black ones look nice on your bike when you have the right theme going. I have a 30mm Nibbi PE on my Hawk 250 along with the yellow Nibbi ignition coil. It was running great until I jetted it way too rich a couple of seasons ago.
    Then last season I bought my scooter and was riding that most of the time so the Hawk was put off to the side out of the way until I had time to get to it. I also had a Nibbi 1/4-turn twist throttle on my Hawk as well with some Pro Taper lock-on grips. But I eventually switched it out for a thumb throttle to help with riding in traffic better since I haven't ridden a clutched bike in years.
    I took the Hawk off of my bike insurance for this season and it's only going to be the scooter for road riding. It's much more practical in constant stop-and-go driving and does the same speed. The Hawk is going back to being a dirt bike for trail riding so it doesn't need any insurance. :)

    I'm having a bit of trouble dialing in this carb. I started with #98 main jet, #32 pilot jet, 4 on jet needle ran too hot. Changed to #100 main jet spark plug was black but rain a bit better. So I changed the pilot jet to a #30 and this is the best so far. But it will start right up but if I give it throttle it dies until the bike is warmed up then it's fine. Do you think I should move the jet needle from a 4 to a 3 and see if that fixes it?

    • @GhettoWrench
      @GhettoWrench  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the adjustment you need is in that air fuel mixture screw. You can run a pretty wide range of pilot jets because its adjustable with that screw. I ended up putting mine in more (less air) than the "best idle" and it seemed to get rid of that off throttle stumble.

      @GhettoWrench  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jayb5623 you could go back and lean everything out to max. Drop the needle, small jets and now you know it's too lean. Work em up 1 step at a time and see if it improves. Keep going richer until improvement stops. Also make extra sure you don't any vacuum leaks

      Yes, I did do that.

    • @GhettoWrench
      @GhettoWrench  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok so first make sure it has the bowl has gas in it. I use electric pump but with vacuum I actually fill it with gas and a syringe via the drain tube. To start it I start it initially off the main Jet and needle with throttle. This is sketchy. Expect a 2000 to 3000 rpm start. Hold those brakes! The bike will take off. I keep it running and start adding big idle knob till I get control of bike by idle knob. It is turned way in. Then I slowly start reducing idle knob and adjusting air fuel mixture in increments so I am a little on the pilot jet and continue until the idle knob is back out and the I am completely running on the pilot jet. It is my fast method to initially tune it. New carb starts are a pain.

    • @GhettoWrench
      @GhettoWrench  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jayb5623 the choke is actually an enriching jet and opens another hole to pull fuel from in front of the slide. Put that on also and it will boost the pilot or idle jet. . Read my other reply for starting it. I forgot to say in my other reply you can also loosen that float bowl drain screw and suck gas out of it to help fill the bowl. When gas is in the drain line, close the drain screw and should be enough gas in the bowl to start. The pilot jet sits way higher in the float bowl than the main Jet and if the bowl is not completely full it is difficult. So like in my other reply that is why I use throttle and start initially with throttle and main Jet. Just crack throttle. Not much.
