You might have got some water in the inlet tube when you were pressure washing it Paul as it was left open. That would account for the spitting and bad running at the time.

Yeah I sometimes use a double gasket as the carburettor sometimes warp.. I have also cut the back of the tank.. it makes the gasket sit down better..

On these briggs engines there is a oil drain bolt on the bottom of the engine. I use it for oil changes and it works very well for me.

I took the exhaust off as there was some oil leaking at the back but cleaned it all off. Then I put it all back together... After all that I started up the engine but had smoke but didn't burn off as I was cutting the grass at that time. Just wondering what it could be as I saw yours was smoking abit...
Hi I love watching your videos iv learnt a lot from you so ty but I see you struggle with socket sizes and its cause these older mowers are imperial sockets I.e 1/4" 3/8" 1/2" so you round any heads on bolts and I think your using metric sockets.

Hi, i got the sp470, i can't get the top platic cover off at the back don't know what size screwdriver/Allen key or torx bit to use as can't see the head etc & the front bolt's loose what size bolts did you use to secure this cover mines the red one Many Thanks in advance & great video buddy very informative 👍
I'd say you do ramble a bit but well worth it as you cover everything clearly and in good detail for anyone wanting to give putting something back together a go. Your camera work and lining up shots is good now days too with clear views of any key details. I'll let you know how the service goes on the scrap mower I got 5 years ago which decided today to not start for the first time ever (its had not working governor since I got it which I'll try to fix now).

Did you get it working?
Note that the recoil cord holder is dangling on the cable on opposite side. Unhook it, fix it to handle on correct side and then thread pull cord into it so that you don't have to bend down to get to handle. Just saying.

Have you ever done a clip on servicing a McAllister MPRM 46SP Briggs and Stratton?
The Brigg's and Stratton in this film looks similar to mine🤷

Hi. I've got the SP470 version of this mower. Basically, on mine the engine bolts have come loose, so at the moment the engine shakes and I can hear the blade hitting the metal underside frame. If I look underneath I can sort of see one nut half exposed and I can tighten that one but the others I cannot see.
Do I need to remove the blade and underside cover to gain access to the motor securing bolts?

Hi, i have an sv150, it starts, revs very high for 3-4 seconds then it dies I serviced the carburettor, changed the spark plug, cleaned the cooling fins, even made a spring for the carburettor from a pen because it was no where to be found but nothing. Is there anything I can do?
It's tough to get these right. I uploaded a video last week on this engine that might help. try slacking the spring and make sure the governor is moving freely on the side of the engine
