I’ve got to admit I’m getting addicted to your channel. Find myself binge watching on a night. Also after watching these and finding an old Briggs and Stratton classic in the garage (all seized up) I I have now fully stripped it down and rebuilt. Personally I went as far as removing the piston, valves everything. I would really enjoy seeing a vid of you fully rebuilding an engine if and when you get time. It’s strangely satisfying getting something working again and giving another lease of life. Your videos have really helped me out while doing this. If I was able to show you the before and after photos of what your videos have helped me achieve I genuinely would. Thank you for your advise and inspiration. Your a top bloke!

Hi, I know I'm a bit behind but only found your channel because I got a Briggs & Stratton engine Qualcast mower from my neighbour, they bought a new one because the old one wouldn't run.
So, I thought I'd have a look at it, came on TH-cam, typed in, lawn mower won't start, & here you are.
I know he took the oil & fuel out, with the look of the air fllter, he's tipped it right up.
I'm in the process of ordering a new air filter, new gasket & diaphragm & new governer & throttle springs.
I've already got the NGK B2 - LM Spark Plug.
I have found your video very informative, well put together with very good tips on tools etc, I was a shopfitter so have a good assortment of tools already.
Anyway Paul, thanks again for the video, I'm retired now so I've got plenty of time to watch ALL your other videos, 👍😁😁.

. One point that you made that really should be emphasised much much earlier in your video is to start the mover off the grass, preferably on the path/concrete. As a novice, I was not aware of how long grass under the mower seriously hinders the engine from starting. A crucial but simple point. Thank you for your insight 😊. Greatly appreciated...

I bought some cheap spark plugs and my mower would not start so i put a used ngk in and it started 1st time. Goes to show cheap sh-t dont pay off .Great video

Thanks Paul I’ve learnt so much my mower is built by a company called DAYE in China ... I done all the servicing myself I would say it’s good as a Honda starts 1st time I’ve got replacement parts from Germany a new blade and boss as they have a European office ... What I will say I use Morris Lubricants .. Race C30 Castor Racing Oil ... it does smell rather nice 👍

I like the info,I work on lawn mowers also, an easy way to crank engine is pull off the starter and use drill and socket, I have r.a. easy start if you an issue like I do

Hi Paul - was fascinated to see what a v35 SHOULD look like! Mine doesn't look quite as 'new' but after a bit of TLC, respraying of certain parts (I think I'll respray the deck BR green) and robbing a few bits from M/field No 2 SV150 , I intend that it should not only work well but look respectable, if not seriously renewed. Seems to run OK but cosmetically, it has seen better days. New NGK spark plugs are on their way! etc etc.

PS - Mountfield No 2 has a rusted-through deck at one part -is it worth fibreglassing the rusted parts of the deck?
What an absolutely great video! 👍 I have a battery start mount field self propelled petrol mower (the battery part also doesn’t work). The pull start cable just broke off tonight and the self propelled function stopped working also!
Have you got any videos of altering the wheels as mine is a 2007 mower and the front wheels are both uneven. The alteration lever is just the one at the back for the whole mower. Doesn’t matter what I do the left front wheel will not move 🙈 and the mower splutters when I start can you help me!

I have a Mounfield P41 and it won't start every Mountfield I see getting repaired never seems to resemble mine my son also has a Mountfield that's not starting it's so frustrating both aren't even over a couple of years old. I'm annoyed as I trusted the brand. Many thanks

Also i would use a cheap oil extractor to suck out the old fuel. As for the carb I would clean it all. Just spraying around never works as it wont clean the jets

Hi Paul (or can anyone help?) I have the Mountfield sa 100 with suspected old fuel issues. I looked in the tank and appeared to be empty so added new fuel, I'm wondering if there were some dregs in there. Does this cause problems? Have emptied the small bowl inder the carb a few times. The lawn mower runs for a few seconds after spraying carb cleaner in the side of the carburettor (through the middle of the air filter). Incidentally the bottom of the air filter is oily from the machine being stored incorrectly before it was given to us. Any help appreciated.

Hi got a briggs Stratton lawnmower replaced carb gaskets new plug .pump fuel it runs then stops.had new fuel plug . ?
I converted a 36v lead acid battery electric mower to a briggs because im an idiot and i had an extra engine just laying around and those batteries cost like $60 a piece. So that electric mower had one of those safety switches but it didn't work directly with the electronic motor until it got past what was suppose to be a fly wheel brake linkage but it was FAKE and didn't need to be there! It's a weird mower... Chassis, motor bolts, and everything else was briggs like until you got under the plastic hood to the batteries and motor. The safety switch is just a glorified resettable mouse trap inside a plastic case and i had allot of trouble using the linkage cable that comes with mowers like these because the cables are broken up into segments it's not one shot to the flywheel brake. I haven't seen anybody do this on youtube yet but i might make my own video on how to crimp bicycle brake cable with just a hammer and vice grips. That's a big pain in the ass and important when working on mowers. That's halted me many times and yes I've tried literally using lead solder to make a new S thing and it was totally not worth it they crack and break so often anyways when they are working hanging on by a thread.
