    This is not a 1 year natural hair journey. This is about 2 years of natural hair growth. But 1 year of being completely natural (without the straight ends).

      It is 2years 6months to be precise. People need to stop feeling bad that their hair isn't growing. Peeps it's 2 1/2 years of growth.

    Is your one month update accurate? You transitioned for 12 months, then cut off the relaxer, leaving 12 months of new growth. Yes, you were 1 year natural but your one month update is actually 13 months of new growth.

    Got to say you were one of my very first inspirations on youtube towards achieving healthy hair once I saw your journey. I decided, however, after a long battle with unhealthy relaxed hair that grew long, only to then break off that I am going to go back natural, so it gave me so much joy to see that you are now natural. I hope you will stay natural, our hair seems to strive so much better in its natural state. At least mine does. Great video

    Beautiful! Well put together. Love your hair. My last relaxer was January of 2017. I transitioned for 13 months. The rest of the relaxed ends were removed on February 27th 2018 @ 12:47am. My niece did the honors. What a difference once the relaxed ends were cut! When I started researching about the ingredients in relaxers, and discovered it's the same ingredients as in Liquid Draino, that was a wake up call for me. Never realized how much my health was affected, and didn't know why.
    Since I stopped putting the creamy crack, my health has been sooooo much better. (Not downing any female who are still relaxed. I loved the way relaxers made my hair look; bone straight. I only put them about 2-3 times a year. It was just affecting my health. As I continue on my natural hair journey, I look forward to embracing it all; my thickness with my curl pattern. Whether relaxed or natural, enjoy and embrace your journey.💙

      Y do u have to do a big chop? Y not simply trim the ends every 3 months or so...trust and believe that that would work to keep ur length during ur journey to being completely natural. No need for any big chops. The relaxed hair will get cut off gradually...and the journey would seem less painful

  • @nanaakua6927
    @nanaakua6927 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow. My natural hair has never been that bouncy. No matter how hard I shook my head, I only got headaches. My hair is hard and as stiff as a rod. It's never been curly, I just don't know if it's 4ç anymore. Been natural over a year, started transitioning in somewhere July 2016, cutting my hair just like you did yours. But I feel like it ain't getting any longer or heavier. Difficult to comb through hence leading to lots of snaps and tears... I'm just tired. I feel like my relaxed hair was easier to manage.
    Your hair is awesome. Looks like that silky type with lovely curl patterns

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Maybe you need to change something in either your hair routine or the products your using. I sometimes have difficulty with combing my hair, due to knots & tangles, so apply plenty of moisture, then oil (at the ends) which helps provide some slip. One quick tip: always apply some form of moisture before touching your hair. Start off with water, a moisturiser, then oil. In some cases, it could just be that your hair wants more moisture. You’re still new to it all and learning, so once you begin experimenting more and trying out new methods, you’ll get it. But do check out my other videos in the description box, I’m sure you’ll find them useful.

      Forget the combs and use those fingers to detangling your hair, less chance of breakages

    • @claudette2057
      @claudette2057 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sis,
      The things that changed my tight 4c, hard to comb hair was Flaxseed Gel and Castor Oil. Keep your hair moisturized - never let it become dry. Add Castor Oil to the ends and then apply flaxseed gel to the ends. The Flaxseed Gel and Castor Oil added to the ends stopped my hair from snapping, breaking off and single strand knots. Curly Proverbs has a DIY on her TH-cam Channel on how to make Flaxseed Gel. Please try this, and good luck!

      @HealthyAfroHair  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Awww 😁 If there’s anything you feel needs changing in your routine, then maybe try switching up a few things or even try out new products. But if you feel everything is ok, then just stay focused and keep going. We all have different hair growth rates, so some people will experience faster or slower results than others.

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awww...thanks so much, it’s nice to know you find it inspiring 😊 In terms of tips to improve your videos and pics, you just need a half decent camera (even a mobile phone will do) but lighting really is key and makes all the difference. As for videos, mine are done using Final Cut Pro X, but there’s lots of TH-cam tutorials on all this stuff. But you still have time to take pictures, so try to get it done ASAP!

      Healthy Afro Hair thank you. I wash and deep condition every 2-3 weeks. I moisturize and oil my scalp during the week. No heat besides bonnet dryer for deep condition. Hair has been in cornrows under wigs since October. I just did crochet braids for the first time and I love them. I do plan to wear my hair soon in twist hopefully but I’m not still not ready to for the new length :/. I was past bra strap when I transitioned and big chopped.When I bc I was left with 3-5 inches. So I'm 14 (4c) and I'm not really sure if I should do a big chop. I mean I really want to and I think its what's best for my hair, but there's this fear of me not liking it once it's done and regretting everything. That's gonna lead to stress which is gonna lead to hair loss. Any advice?

      When I first started out, I wanted to ensure that what I was doing to manage my hair worked and so the best way to see results was by taking pictures. So I’ve just continued to take lots of pics and document everything over the years.

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! 🤗 Congrats on your big chop. I use large stretchy bands to stretch out my hair. I actually have a video on how I do it here; bit.ly/2r1LzCq For my edges, I use a few products; Aunt Jackie’s Don’t Shrink Gel, Mielle Organics Honey & Ginger styling gel or Edge control gel by Revlon Realistic.

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s nothing misleading here. This video shows an overview of my entire hair journey (Relaxed to Natural) then goes on to show my 1 Year Natural Hair Journey (April 2017 to April 2018). You don’t count the transitioning period as being natural.

    This has nothing to do with you. You're beautiful. But I think the high puff has got to be the ugliest natural hair style on the planet. Like who rocks that and thinks they look 100% fab needs to stop. It's the one hair style I wish would go away. if you don't have long enough hair to fully tie it back then just wear it out in a wash and go or what ever.... anyways that's all. 😂

  • @WTFVIDSok
    @WTFVIDSok 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    OMG! Please give us a break with the hair moving side to side! I can't stand it when naturals do that. What exactly is that supposed to indicate? If your hair can't move like that 24/7, then it 's pointless.
