This is so important because I believe alot of 4C women are discouraged from going natural because we don't have loose curly hair but It's just as beautiful especially when it's properly moisturized!
I don't have 4c hair but by the 5th day in my twist out, I get the most compliments, from all races too! Actually I don't always have the desire to twist my hair some nights and my hair will look it's most unruly and big, those are the days I'm happiest with how it looks. Very true! Every hair type is dif. especially when you consider porosity and shrinkage. I do wash and go's everyday on my TWA because it keeps my hair constantly moisturized and I don't like working on dry hair but it's not the same for someone else. 4C hair types can do wash n go's but we can't expect a long curly fro despite how long it is when it's wet or when you pull it. Short hair 4C girls have to learn to love it in it's shrunken glory lol

Mya D I never put on my bonnet without putting a scarf on first, so my hairline can be nice and flat when I take it off. I don’t want the band of the bonnet rubbing against my edges frizzing them up.
I am sooooooo happy this video is posted!!! This was awesome information! I see a lot of people complaining about the hair stylist prices. I personally feel like you get what you pay for and natural hair is HARD. I have 4c hair and I KNOW how difficult it can be for me let alone letting someone else do it. She did a lot of work on her hair and gave her a lesson on ways to better take care of her hair. I wish somebody in my area could do the same. You can tell this lady is educated on natural hair I appreciate that AND the results were great. We need more stylist that are interested in all types of natural hair. I have been to a total of 4 stylist that "claim" they specialize in natural hair only to leave with my hair in knots or heat damaged because when they said they specialized in natural hair they did not mean 4c natural hair.
Jozytalks also its a buildable process...treating the hair from its natural state makes it beautiful from the beggining and creates a base for the hair to stay naturally healthy for a longer time, so the price is sooo much worth it on the long run. People just like to despise jobs that are related to beauty...😑 this is an art and artists need to pay the rent too
Jozytalks and folks wonder why there aren't more natural salons lol its cuz the community doesn't want to pay. Ppl srsly expects folks to give away their talents and knowledge worth hundreds for a few dollars. It nuts!
fatalblue there are literally no natural hair salons in my area because the few that have been opened close does soon after because no one is willing to spend more than $20 on there hair.
Beautiful! I'm obviously the whitest but I love to watch hair and beauty routines that don't apply to me and see the joy on women's faces idk. Much love to you and your work!
As a black man who grew up with 4 sisters and currently with 2 beautiful black daughters,I could attest to the fact that our hair is an incredible gift from God but it can be a curse if its not taken care of. It's almost like having a brand new Benz or BMW..in the beginning its all good, everybody loves it,you shining. Then the maintenance starts to come around...without knowledge or someone you can go to with knowledge(like this beautiful sista) its hard as hell...shine in my queens. I love y'all regardless🖤🖤🌎👏🏽😘
You are so right. Everyone wants a foreign car, until maintenance and filling up your tank becomes torturous. Not hating, if you can afford one- congrats. But know what you got! I bought a brand new Nissan, 35 mpg. My ex had a BMW. Wanted to trade his car for mines. Know what you got! Peace and God Bless to all!
You're still perpetuating that tired trope about 4c hair being "a curse". There is nothing cursed or even complicated about maintaining (any) hair period. Shampoo and condition 4c hair at least 3 times a week. Detangle with fingers, and let an Afro be an Afro. It's that simple! It grows just fine with this regimen and it truly is wash-n-go. You can even use inexpensive products like VO5. And what is that "regardless" comment about? "Regardless" of what? I find the comment offensive -- especially coming from a dude with the same hair texture -- implying there's something wrong with me because of my hair, that you must love me "in spite of" my hair. This 4c woman doesn't want your hypocritical, brainwashed, fake ass 'compliment'.
@@lql1094 He's not saying that it is a curse. All he is saying is that if you don't maintain your "black" hair, it feels like a curse. Man people get offended so quickly these days
@@elishaallen4475 Right! And the quote; "...our hair is an incredible gift from God but it can be a curse IF its not taken care of." Then he proceeds to explain by metaphor. I don't know how that confused...lol
All these guys in the comments are saying "I love a girl that's all natural and that doesn't wear weave!" 😒Right, and then when a girl takes out/off her weave or wig and goes to places with her natural hair y'all are so quick to call her bald head.
Exactly! I wish they’d just shut up about what THEY think any woman should do with her hair. Nobody asked y’all nothing about your opinion on our hair. Nine times out of ten, most of these clowns would run a natural sister over to get to Becky anyway. GTFOH.
WELL IM TIRED OF WEAVES BECAUSE PPL BELIEVE BLACK WOMEN CANT GROW THEIR OWN HAIR.... What's wrong with hating the fake mess? What's wrong with wearing your real hair?... Natural, relaxed, inbetween (texturized, or heat straightened) as long as it's real and breaks this "black women cant grow hair" stereotype I'm all for it.....what's the issue with black women trying to defend/fight over weaves like their lives depend on it?
@@ShamommyHempire most of us wear weaves so our hair WILL grow. It's not our fault people are ignorant about our hair and think for some reason we are the only race that has hair that doesn't grow. If you don't wanna wear weave, then more power to you, but for people like me, wearing weave has helped my hair transition and grow over the past year.
I'm 200 miles away but I want to book an appointment with her. She is so patient, EXTREMELY knowledgeable, & very good at what she does! The end result was beautiful and the process was amazing as well.
GIRRRLLL Tameeka and Liz are THE BEST to have ever done it!!! I get 'Jaded' every 4 months and it's definitely a part of my hair health regimen! My curls stay poppin'!!! Don't worry Liz's scalp massages bring me to tears everytime too... like they take you to a whole other emotional place where you don't know what to do with your feelings lol... btw, you're stunning!!!
I have 3b/3c hair and my sister has 4a/4b hair and since her hair texture isn’t very celebrated I always tell her that her natural hair looks good and that it’s beautiful, because it is. Us as a nation really need to get rid of beauty standards, all skin colors and hair textures are beautiful ❤️!
ryt5014 Don't you know ? Products for black woman to perm or relax their hair have decreased majorly (of course there are black woman who still do it) but a lot of black woman have gone natural and it's crazy and I'm in loving it
This video was so informative! As a 4c girl, I have been having breakage around my edges. I am definitely going to begin treating my edges and nape with hair oils and wrapping them with Saran wrap! Your wash and go looks amazing!
R St33l3 Yes, I regularly moisturize. I never wear braids and I try to limit wearing high puffs because I know that the tension wrecks havoc on my edges. My edges are a totally different texture than the rest of my hair. The rest of my hair is flourishing! I guess I just need to give my edges a little more TLC.
Nicole Smith DON'T do braids girl! Your edges will only get worse. The best way to regrow your edges is to either let them rest by using hairstyles that do not put tension on your edges or to let them rest under wiggs (no weaves).
I've been watching a ton of hair videos lately for some reason. And, I have to tell you that if I had 4c hair, this is totally the natural style I would chose. Just BEAUTIFUL!
I feel like I got more practical usable tips and knowledge in these few mins then tons of other videos I've watched in YEARS. Think I might have to book an appt.
I snatched my bonnet off so fast when she was talking about the crown of your hair! I knew there was a correlation between my bonnet and my edges!! I knew it! Thanks for this informational video! Im booking an appointment!
It blows my mind to see how many different hair textures there. Like, there’s my pin straight hair and then your gorgeous Afro! It’s crazy to see how varied hair can be!
Looking through the comment section it brings happiness to my heart to see so many people from different cultures enjoying this video. Continue to inspire and be the change on the negative views towards kinky curls. I’m proud of all of you!! 😍🙏
This is so refreshing to see. Alot of these IG and youtube naturalistas try to discourage people from going to see a professional. I find it to be very important. My stylist takes very good care of my curls.
In America, stylists are expensive so I understand the diy trend but I find it annoying that so many vloggers try to act like stylists/professionals are easily replaceable.
omggg they need more hair stylist just like this for natural hair in Barbados 😍😍😍 hair looked Amazing btw just gorgeous. never have I tried a wash n go
Yes I agree, btw do you know any hairstylist that does natural hair in Barbados as in trimming it in its natural state that you would trust with your hair? I need reccomendations.
ricee16 girl the only natural hair stylist I would trust as in treating or caring for my natural hair in Barbados is myself. I only go to one that braids my hair and she knows nothing of the sort about natural hair. I feel I'm going cosmetology school so I can come out and care for you guys natural hair because these styling right now goes through natural hair like it's relax. They don't even detangle with a big enough wide tooth comb and that causes your beautiful hair that you spent 2-4 years growing out to a lot of breakage because we have the most fragile hair. 😢😭😭😭😭😭😭
Idk what I would do without these amazing videos I’m a white woman and my baby girls dad is half black. When she was born she had this really really thick blonde. Yes blonde lol hair .. the color was like mine but I had no idea what I should do with it. As she got older. I used to do my friends hair but that was twists and things with fake hair. I really wanted her to embrace what god gave her. Thanks to videos like this her hair can stay healthy and strong. Beautiful like the little girl she is .. thank you !
Why would you have a mixed child without educating yourself about taking care of her hair BEFORE YOU DECIDED TO HAVE KIDS WITH A HALF BLACK MAN. This is why so many mixed kids dont know how to take care of their hair.
@@flowerpod1700 why are you being so strict? She learned, she is learning, most black women don't know or are learning how to take care of their own hair (including their child's). Instead of going off on her, congratulate for educating herself and encourage her to keep on going.
@@theoneme3748 I'm not being strict it's comman sense. Don't lay down with a black man if you don't know how to take care of a black child, same goes for black women. Can't handle black hair, don't have black kids it's that simple.
@@flowerpod1700 then majority of black people wouldn't be able to reproduce since it wasn't until recently we learned to take care of our hair. I don't like how you make it sound like we are a kind of special race. Your mentality feel similar to adopting dogs. "Don't get a dog if you can't take care of it." We are not dogs. Our hair does not make us a special kind of breed. She had a mixed child and now she get to learn how to take care of hair like most of us do. Do you think only white people watch these videos? We are litteraly millions to do so, why? Cause we are learning, like she is. Your "common sense" only applies to dogs or cat or whatever animals.
@@flowerpod1700 I didn't say you said we were. It's just that mentality of "you don't know how take care of a black child, then don't have one" makes it similar. We are as important as any other race. A half black man or a full black man choosing to be with a white woman should not mean that black women are as unimportant as other women. Love has no types. A black man that is demeaning to a black woman, now there is a problem. You can't generalize black men, my mom is dark skinned and yet she is considered really beautiful by multiple black men. The only education required for having a black child is to know how to take care of babies. That simple. Not cause of the hair. You don't know how many white children are born with curly hair (not the same, but similar). I don't see no one telling white woman to learn beforehand how to take care of curly hair. Everything is a learning process, she is learning now, like the rest of us.
I’m white and I have the straitest, do nothing hair so I say this with the utmost envy, your hair is gorgeous. More women of color should embrace their natural hair, it is stunning. I love it and wish I had hair so pretty. I paid over $100 to have my hair done for my son’s wedding and two hours later it was hanging like a limp nothing. My hair will not hold anything. No curls, no waves, no style. I would love to have hair that can be styled. Embrace it and love it. ❤️❤️
theebajanqueen In England, I went to a Hair dressers called 'Hype' in London..... worst f*cking decision of my life. They damaged my hair. And it's a disappointment because: -The service/experience was good/nice enough people. Complementary books/pens/ discounts etc... - I TOLD the woman I wanted HEALTHY hair. - They have STAR RATINGS... they are meant to be critically acclaimed and yet they have damaged my hair. This was my first ever hair dressers experience, I was so excited because it was my first bit of my own money spent on something I thought would help the health of my hair and they went and foocked it up 😡 Never in my life have a had heat damage ... I've never been so angry 😡
I'm sorry this happened to you and I can totally understand that it would put you off for life. I do not go to salons very often at all these days. It's like some of them have never heard of using a wide-toothed comb on natural hair and want to come at you with the fined-toothed and get annoyed when you say something. Excuse me but I love my fro dearly and I don't want her yanked from my scalp, especially as I'm a 4 type girl as well.
I have never been and was planning to but I have heard some good things about adornment365 in South London. They do consultations also. L O What are you so mad for? You hate yourself that damn much? You're going on everyone's comments and saying dumb shit like this. Shut the hell up and read a book or something
FINALLY!!! I've been literally HUNTING for a curly hair salon that I can go get a trim/shaping from in the city. All those other ones that EVERYONE be taking about mainly deal with looser textures so I've never trusted going to them. So coming across this video is a literal BLESSING for me!! Thank you and your hair looks amazing and I'm def going there soon 🙌🏽🙌🏽😫😫
i have like a 3a 2c hair texture, im a dude, and i just appreciate how much extra work yall do, thats so dope and its hard , but yall women out here doing it looking fine asf with yo hair🔥💯
What an amazing service!! And education.....yes I'm white ...I had NO IDEA black people had to go thru so much with their hair!! Amazing job and the girl having the service is stunningly beautiful.....👍❤ God bless!!
Not every black woman has that problem. Not all black women have the same hair texture the hair this woman had is the extreme kinky hair texture that some black women have and it can be some what difficult to control.
im black (but also mixed race, im Hispanic) and my hair is so easy to manage. not all people have the same hair types. since im mixed race my hair is like 3C and 4A and its literally the easiest thing you could ever comb out.
Your video editor did a really good job. I am whiiiiiite white white af but I love watching these videos to get a different perspective and to be able to relate to people better when they bitch about their problems. LOL There's a gal at work that has the same problem with curl formation that she complains about all the time, always wearing scarves to cover it up... I'm going to tell her about that palms out raking technique. It looks VERY simple yet effective. And you are so right about buying food grade oils instead of "hair oils" in the shampoo section-- totally different, the full on coconut oil you showed in the graphic is best! I actually use that one for oil pulling for my teeth. It can actually reverse cavities!
I love to see natural hair stylists that have thick natural hair themselves. And then when she said "We do a lot of finger detangling here," I was like, where??? Pencil me in plz!!
Yes! Where are these salons doing all this time-consuming finger detangling? Because every salon I’ve been to, it’s get the comb and yank yank yank until your hair is broken off all over & your scalp is in agony. Only to be told: “You’re tender-headed”. Naw, bish, you’re too damned rough!
Also that is the NICEST hair salon! They weren’t afraid to be on camera, they walk you through everything and explain why they do everything, and they’re just sweet and kind 🥰
That is until she uses a fine toothed comb to detangle your strands without any product or leave in to make the process easier and breaks the comb in the process.
I always tie a silk scarf over my edges even if I'm not oiling them that night, ever since I was a child. I was always scolded if I didn't so it a habit I can't break even if I'm very tired.🤷🏾♀️
I love seeing transformations like this. It really shows how that much effort goes such a lot way in confidence and making someone really feel themselves.
Great video! It was very informative. I love the tip about putting Saran Wrap along your edges after applying oil there. I will definitely be trying this.
This video was very helpful. I live California (bay area) and it is hard to find good natural hair beautician. She did a very thorough explanation of everything. Thank you so much for sharing. Wish me luck on finding a good natural beautician for myself.
Tameeka’s so knowledgable. She has to be a cosmetologist, and not just a hairstylist. This woman knows her stuff and she’s so professional. She listens actively to her patrons and she doesn’t make them feel bad when they make obvious mistakes in caring for their hair. I wish she was located where I live.
Gorgeous! This was such a well done video. Your hairstylist absolutely rocks. Even after being in the industry for 10+ years, seeing cosmetologists like this one get me excited to do hair again. She did such an amazing job teaching you all the things! Thank you again for such a great video!
looks amazing. Other essential oils good for growing back edges are lemon, lavender and basil essential oils. They are the best at stimulating blood flow to the scalp to optimize hair growth :-)
Dante Velasquez indeed those oils are great, but for me they dry out quite quickly with intense summer hear or winter's chilly breeze; the stress of environmental effects. Then a hairstylist recommended aquaphor, healing ointment and that did the trick, edges grew back so fast. You can still mix with essential oils too.
Hotaru Grace Queen what type of hair do you have? (If you know which) and also did using the aquaphor cause any clogging of your pores, or leave thick build up?
Ross Russell my hair type is a mixed texture but primarily 4C. I use aquaphor on hair line but usually wash it out, then reapply every three days or so.
I'm am aspiring hair dresser! I'm currently in school and we haven't learned about how to work with very curly or kinky hair textures, so I went to go learn for myself on the internet! I want to be able to work with all hair types and textures when working with clients. I came across your channel and your videos have been such a great help to me for learning and understanding natural hair! I'm so happy that I found your videos keep up the great work!😊💗
Amberose Francis I second that. I have 3c 4a and went to a hair salon where the hairstylist sweared to me that she knows how to work natural hair. I left the salon with dry and damaged hair💇.Now I do my own hair and dont even dare to step in a salon. Our S.A hairstylist are so uneducated about natural hair : (

For the first 5 years of my career as a hairstylist, I worked with a number of platform artists and instructors at hair shows, trade shows, and in salons all over. - Have to say, I rarely see the natural gift of teaching and instruction in cosmetologists or people in the beauty industry. - The young lady performing the services for this client really should be on stage teaching people about hair. She's excellent in her delivery. Clearly, an expert in her field - and her communications skills are superior. She provides inspiration without patronizing or "overselling anything" to her client. She presents as genuinely interested in the science and educational aspects of her profession. Hair professionals don't often get to experience being taught by such naturally gifted artists. - She has the gift to teach. She's using that gift here in her videos. But man, it would be great to see her live on stage, teaching other professionals.
CupcakeLove FORRREAL!!!! Can I get one?!? I love doing my own hair, but I hate feeling fearful of going to an actual salon. I’ve heard so many horror stories that I don’t want to be added to that population of bad experiences. However, I need a professional consultation just to make sure if I’m doing it right. Unfortunately, in Melbourne, FL there aren’t any salons close by that don’t look sketchy from reviews... I’m better off not taking any chances XD

Beautiful! I'm obviously the whitest but I love to watch hair and beauty routines that don't apply to me and see the joy on women's faces idk. Much love to you and your work!
We are all sisters anyway
: )
Me too
I’m a latino male, so this is even less applicable to me, but I love these videos.
I’m Omani and I loooooooove watching these vids 😬
As a black man who grew up with 4 sisters and currently with 2 beautiful black daughters,I could attest to the fact that our hair is an incredible gift from God but it can be a curse if its not taken care of. It's almost like having a brand new Benz or BMW..in the beginning its all good, everybody loves it,you shining. Then the maintenance starts to come around...without knowledge or someone you can go to with knowledge(like this beautiful sista) its hard as hell...shine in my queens. I love y'all regardless🖤🖤🌎👏🏽😘
BROTHER!! O my gosh. I can DEFINITELY relate about those damn foreigns.
Our hair is fragile but beautiful like a flower 🌻💚😌
All these guys in the comments are saying "I love a girl that's all natural and that doesn't wear weave!" 😒Right, and then when a girl takes out/off her weave or wig and goes to places with her natural hair y'all are so quick to call her bald head.
exactly
This!!!!
A stylist that also educates her clients! This was so satisfying to watch 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

So refreshing to see an actual 4c kinky wash n go!

This video was so informative! As a 4c girl, I have been having breakage around my edges. I am definitely going to begin treating my edges and nape with hair oils and wrapping them with Saran wrap! Your wash and go looks amazing!
I understand the struggle girl so i'm glad you were able to learn something. Thank you for watching
stropcitygal i'm 4c and I don't have edge breakage. Do you moisturize consistently??
R St33l3 Yes, I regularly moisturize. I never wear braids and I try to limit wearing high puffs because I know that the tension wrecks havoc on my edges. My edges are a totally different texture than the rest of my hair. The rest of my hair is flourishing! I guess I just need to give my edges a little more TLC.
Nicole Smith DON'T do braids girl! Your edges will only get worse. The best way to regrow your edges is to either let them rest by using hairstyles that do not put tension on your edges or to let them rest under wiggs (no weaves).
stropcitygal that sounds stressful. I pretty much wear high puffs on a daily basis.
This video was actually sooo informative and you look so good😍😍
Glad you got something out of it! Thank you
Beauty By Nikki you are so pretty wow😍
Grace Williamson awww thanks love😊
i know right i never would have thought to put on saran warp on the edges
Agreed. The castor oil tip and comment was funny.

Yes I agree, btw do you know any hairstylist that does natural hair in Barbados as in trimming it in its natural state that you would trust with your hair? I need reccomendations.
girl same, we need them in Jamaica too. The Caribbean lacking!!
ricee16 girl the only natural hair stylist I would trust as in treating or caring for my natural hair in Barbados is myself. 😢😭😭😭😭😭😭
Elizabeth Lizzy it's true girl cuz these hair stylist only know about relax hair😢😭😭😢😭😢😢😭😭😢😭😭😢

Idk what I would do without these amazing videos I’m a white woman and my baby girls dad is half black. When she was born she had this really really thick blonde.
Everything is a learning process, she is learning now, like the rest of us.
you are soooo lucky!! here in Ireland there are barely, in fact no natural hair salons where the stylists are educated! you go girl!!

theebajanqueen In England, I went to a Hair dressers called 'Hype' in London..... worst f*cking decision of my life.
They damaged my hair.
And it's a disappointment because:
-The service/experience was good/nice enough people. Complementary books/pens/ discounts etc...
- I TOLD the woman I wanted HEALTHY hair.
- They have STAR RATINGS... they are meant to be critically acclaimed and yet they have damaged my hair.
This was my first ever hair dressers experience, I was so excited because it was my first bit of my own money spent on something I thought would help the health of my hair and they went and foocked it up 😡
Never in my life have a had heat damage ...
I've never been so angry 😡
do you know any good hair salons for natural / afro hair in the uk / london? (including ones that offer hair consultations)
I love my natural hair tutorial videos here on YT but I don't have a hair routine and keep it pretty simple. Wash day isn't an all day event for me at all. Anyways, here is a link. @Longhair Dontcare incredible statement #facts!
It's real work to have our type of hair but it is beautiful hair.
Our texture is so unique and special!
She did a great job! I really need to visit a salon for this kind of treatment!
I love to see natural hair stylists that have thick natural hair themselves. And then when she said "We do a lot of finger detangling here," I was like, where??? Pencil me in plz!!
I only dare to use a comb under the protection of my shower head and shit tons of conditioner!
Me J I feel like most people have thicker hair than me. I have only found one girl with thin strands and density like mine.
NovaDoll my daughter has thin hair but so thick and dry.
Whoooo has the time for finger detangling though? Am i being lazy? lol
Wow! The stylist is VERY knowledge about hair!!!!! Thanks so much! I learned a lot
That is until she uses a fine toothed comb to detangle your strands without any product or leave in to make the process easier and breaks the comb in the process.
That 1 thumbs down is blasphemy! Great video Chizi, very informative. Keep them coming.
watches at 3:12 *pulls bonnet down over eyebrows* lol
Aja Cameron hahaha funny I did that too.
lol, i took mine off
Aja Cameron I always put a durag or head scarf on before my bonnet to protect my edges from rubbing. I lost some edges before I started doing that
Lmao me too literally 💀

looks amazing.
You can still mix with essential oils too.
oh thats really good to know! Aquaphor is very hydrating.

FORRREAL!!!!
Look at you with the editing❤️ 🔥. Go head sis 👏🏾👏🏾
Atira B.E Right! I need to hire her editor. lol.
im available lmao!
If I could understand a word other than "excited" maybe I could rouse some enthusiasm, but your "excitement" has rendered your speech "Incomprehensible"!!! Even the captions were baffled.

Oh..My..Gawd..she really is the hair whisperer! Her hair looked so beautiful!!
I wish there was a salon like this in London, I've never had that kind of service with my hair.
2damecuteUK Na I live in Maryland which is near Stratford lol. So east London. There's a shop exactly like this and they aren't too expensive either. They focus on natural hair only. It's called natural hair beauty shop
Top Troll do you have a link?
2damecuteUK yeah sorry I took so long just saw this.
www.purelynaturalhair.com
It's called purely natural in East London
The way Tameeka is totally understanding when you talk about a professional trim vs trimming it yourself🥺😭🥰 That’s a woman who GETS curly/textured hair!
Your 4c hair was popping, your texture looked amazing!
I agree. Really beautiful job on a pretty lady.
Aime news

I moisterize with water, grapeseed & jojoba... its awesome!❣(also good/safe for your face) I do minimal twist-outs & Zero heat straigtening & I trim monthly using two-strand twist method. I've done perms, dreads, weaves & wigs in the past but loving my natural the best🤘 But it is a science lol & so much work😒
