  • Want to know the exercises that all figure skaters should be doing! Download our FREE Guide → www.nextedgetutorials.com/5ex... - "5 Exercises That Every Figure Skater Needs". The most important exercises that any figure skater can be doing!
Twizzling is one of the scariest moves in figure skating. Moving across the ice with speed, while spinning around and around as fast as possible on ONE foot. It sounds like a recipe for disaster, and yet they can look absolutely incredible. The only challenge...how do you even bigger to start twizzling?
In this lesson, we have broken down an easy way for any figure skater to start learning a twizzle. From starting at the barrier (boards) and getting comfortable on your blade, to slowly working on double 3-turns with balance, before finally building speed and confidence in that twizzle. So when you're ready to start twizzling, check out this lesson!
    In this lesson you'll learn:
    - The simple steps for new skaters to start twizzling
    - How you can start practice twizzles even if you can't twizzle
    - The different arm positions you can try with your twizzles
    Happy Skating!

What a coincidence! I was just trying to learn twizzles last night. It took me 3 years to learn forward powerpulls so I'm thinking another couple of years for twizzles

Stacey, I can do Forward Inside Single Twizzle on each foot, but more than a single twizzle is very difficult and scary.

She is a better teacher than a skater. That is good for the students.

Great breakdown on how to do a twizzle!
Question : do you always slightly "pick up" the heel when turning, as you showed in the "slo mo" portion of this? I think my twizzles look like continuous 3 turns. I've been able to do them on the right side for so long and never heard this about the "heel/toe" transfer from any of my pros.
And why is it so much harder for everyone on the left side? Is that normal?
I see this with the high level national/international competitors also? Any comment here? (And you also only show it on the right side too)
    Thanks, so helpful!

Thanks so much for your comment!
We definitely exaggerated that heel and toe pick up in the slow motion part of the video (sorry). That feeling of toe and heel pressure is ever so subtle, but definitely still there given the blade itself has a rocker. You may feel it very naturally without even thinking about it. Hopefully that makes sense!
As for twizzling right side better than left side. It is just a case of having a personal preference. Many skaters rotate counter clockwise in the air and will find twizzling that direction easier. So no matter how much practice anyone does, one side is always going to be the dominant side.
      Thanks again for your comment!

@@nextedgetutorials Thank you, I will. I can do one spin easily and I do practice 3 turns all the time so it shouldn't be that hard, you do them fast BTW!. So there is not such a big adjustment from low speed to higher speeds? By speed I mean going forwards at a medium-fast speed while doing the twizzles. I'm assuming one thing is to travel slow and another is to do them when traveling fast.

Hey I just want to ask that If I can’t do spins I can do twizzles?

    • @nextedgetutorials
      @nextedgetutorials  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Well, a spin is different from a twizzle but I think you can do it 😉❤️❤️

Ok at first, a twizzle is NOT a 3 turn (and should not be). A correct twizzle is done without edges (only the first entrance edge count to be evaluated by judges).

Before watching this I thought twizzle is a controlled spin😅
