- The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with Alison Krauss at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on September 14, 2015 with founding members Jeff Hanna and Jimmie Fadden plus Bob Carpenter and John McEuen. They are joined by Sam Bush on mandolin, Jerry Douglas on dobro and Byron House on bass. Taped for PBS to be aired next March 2016.

Alison Krauss has an angelic voice much like Emmy Lou Harris and I could listen to either one of these talented beautiful ladies sing the names out of the phone book and love listening to it/them.
She sings like the angels.

The introduction for Alison Krauss was great. Her performance was fantastic. I first heard her as a young teen, if I'm not mistaken at the Grand Ole Opry. She has only gotten better with time.

The harmony vocals on this live song are as good or better than any studio version, I believe. As soon as I heard it, I was blown away. So tight you can't separate the voices in your head to hear who's singing the thirds, or fifths or fourths or whatever in the harmony. And they back off the lead singer perfectly!!
I was fortunate to be at this concert. The whole concert was superb, but Alison (my secret love) was absolutely outstanding! Mother Maybell smiled when Alison sang "her" song.

the audio and video are a second or two offsync during most of the concert, but the sound quality is fantastic and the setlist is phenomenal - it came out right after WTCBU Volume 2 so it is basically that classic album performed live --
when you check it out, note the hilarious introduction of Lovin' On the Side at the 20 minute mark, where Jimmy Ibbotson who was such a great part of the NGDB sound and still is one of the best male vocalists in country music, proves once again -- that it's all about HIMSELF !! [no wonder he has had such a rocky relationship with the band members over the years, such a shame]

Alice Blue Another "Country" music band. I liked them all the way back to the 1970s. "Nitty Gritty Dirt Band" says it all. "Mr Bojangles " was my favorite. TH-cam has it. As i said, I tried to get my kids to like the best of all genres of music, regardless of the culture or nationality behind it. In that, we Yanks are truly "mutts", canines of mixed breeds.
We Yanks have a bad habit, I think, of being demeaning to ourselves, although I suspect that tendency comes from the huge number of people who came to the USA shores with only the clothes on their backs, ashamed of their poverty, and learned how to lighten their day by playing simple instruments, some homemade (an old galvanized steel washtub big enough to wash a small child in, cut a hole in the bottom, cut a strong willow branch for the fret board, and put a string on it made from animal sinew. That would be a typical "bass ".Cheap or old violins became "fiddles", and banjos were made from animal materials, just like the bass., and using barrel hoops for circles to enclose the skins. It works, and for us Yanks, sometimes that is all it has to do.

Fabulous band: Alison gets all the plaudits but don't forget the great musicians backing her. I don't share the religious stuff that features so much in the music from the Appalachians, West Virginia and Kentucky but just love the sound. Alison could sing the Frankfort phone book and I'd listen.
