  • To experienced quilters, it may seem odd to explain how we accumulate scraps. New quilters may not realize some of us keep ALL the leftover fabric from our projects, our friends' projects, and even BUY grab bags at the Quilt Shop or find some at rummage sales. A newbie could have learned from someone who throws-away leftover project materials. (It is a little embarrassing, but I admit to pulling good pieces OUT of the someone else's garbage can!) This video shows 3 ways I find scraps (not including the garbage) and how I cut them into useful sizes for future projects.

Off kilter pattern cuts drive my eye yes nuts. And r placing patterns helter skelter in a block where they jar the eye. A little care here and later makes all the difference.

I usually keep my thumb on the " trigger" and close before setting it down! I guess with my focus on recording and explaining, it was just too many things to remember at one time for my little brain!

If your cutter is out of the way or placed in a tray it can cause no harm.

As a beginner, I struggled with what or how to save scraps. I just hope this may help someone who also saves leftovers. Thanks so much for your comment!
