Thank you for doing this for us! I have made some crumb quilts and it's an amazing way to use up the smallest of pieces. Anything bigger than 1 inch by 1 inch gets used up. I recently made 41 pillows for the homeless (approx. 9 inches by 15-18 inches) with straps (often from pant legs). Thank you so much. I've been working on a scrap quilt for my aunt, and I am so happy to see this method of scap sewing. I wish I had seen this a few years ago. I work on the quilt from time to time. She wants a king-size quilt. I ran out of scrap Fabric.
WOW what a happy scrappy memory quilt this will make. I really love this. And one foot is 30,48 centimeters, so in all you had seen together almost 7,5 metres of fabric. Well done.
Brilliant! Love this idea! I made a 10 yards snippet roll once with my smaller scraps. I was able to get numerous projects out of it- including fabric bowls. ❤ I so want to try your idea out. Thank you so much for sharing!
This isn’t a terrible pile, it’s an exciting colorful pile of anticipation! Love it. I still would be picking out the bigger pieces. I’m sure if I closed my eyes and shoveled them into that pillowcase, they’d finally be gone. I can only imagine how you’re going to use your new fabric.
I've only had my blade saver a few days, and it's my favourite gadget/tool. I absolutely love it. I've only been quiltingbsince last month so I don't have too much scraps, but after each day of cutting, I fold and place in sizes and straight into a box nice and tidy. I dread the thought of piles or bags full of scraps to sort through lol
I sew them all together and make craft room storage bowls ( pellon foam) ❤ it’s like I keep little pieces of fabric memories from many different sewing projects 😁
Thank you so much for posting this! I am not a great sewer. I love little projects using scraps that I was given. I love this idea of sewing them all together to have them ready for future projects. I look forward to new videos on how you will be using this.
Thanks so much Patty! ☀️❤️ I made a "bolt" over a year ago, and here's the video of using the very end of the bolt. It was so satisfying! ✂️ I have made quilts zip bags, clothing and all kinds of things 🧵 from the scrap leftover fabric! th-cam.com/video/tZDSpkkoCsU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iceszbr4zI22qRga
The video i didn't know i needed. Im in thr process of renovating my sewing room, and reorganising my scraps in order to make quilts for each of my kids and grandkids.
Instead of using a wrapping paper roll (it has acids in it that can damage the material if it takes years to sew the roll) I went down to the dollar store and bought pool noodles to wrap mine around. They can be used over and over. I get the wider ones and it cuts down in wrinkling of the scraps. I love the way you did this video. And your music was wonderful and really relaxing!
Thanks so much for the compliment! I made a different bolt last year and used it all up. ☀️. I've had others comment about pool noodles too! Great idea!
I am a huge fan of pool noodles. They are so versatile. I have several things wrapped on them. I also have several that are slit open to go over head high hard edges to protect my grandson’s head.
Neat concept! I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have any hair left after that project! I almost didn’t make it through going through my scraps and cutting them into squares and strip sizes I use a lot. But now that it’s done and everything neatly organized I am so happy I stuck with it. It’s amazing all the things you can do with scraps. I recently went to a by donation garage sale. O my goodness I absolutely made out like a bandit there was so much there in fabric I found a box of 21/2 inch squares hundreds of them. I can’t list everything I got but the jewel of the day was a shoebox full of quilt blocks with the pattern and all the fabric needed to finish the quilt for $2. I ended up with 2 trash bags full of fabric and most of it vintage. I was just in heaven with that haul. Your channel is fun!
🌞☀️ thanks so much, Liz! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and the channel. I love sharing a little bit with others. I am so jealous of your garage sale haul. I have found a few neat things at estate sales and garage sales but nothing like you describe! That’s the dream, isn’t it.? 💕
WOW. Now for me to follow this advice and do similar project. Since I enjoy making crumb squares and use in charity quilts, I was already panning how to use my unique bolt of fabric. Thanks for your video, well done, you
Lots and lots of tlc work. I have a thing for scraps too! I created a bunch 100+ of 5” squares and 5x7 size. Now I am piecing them together with 10 x2.5 navy strips.. to create a quilt! I should have done what you did! Ha. Next time.. thanks for sharing!
I got so excited when i was scrolling and saw your video! Your bolt is beautiful. I love this idea so much. I was just thinking how if i had saved my scraps over the past 35 years, and did this with them every 3 years or so, the ever-growing bolt would be a beautiful woven tapestry of memories. There's no time like the present though, so I am going to start doing this with my scraps. I love the zero waste of this idea. I also thought, like some of the other commenters here, that the trim cuttings could be used as stuffing for 100% zero waste. Thanks for the inspiration and all the details you included like time invested and how you went about connecting them.
I love this! I started quilting this summer and felt overwhelmed by scraps so I’ve started basting them into 1/2” epp hexagons and any too tiny pieces I put in a bag and donate to a local sewing group to fill dog beds. Larger pieces I’ve cut into 1 1/2” pieces and use them as leaders and Enders for postage stamp scrap quilt! Thank you for this! Sometimes when I don’t want to think I just see scraps together ❤
Once you see it all as one piece you get all these creative juices flowing and I see garden furniture covers and picnic bowl covers, all odicoated for our wet English weather. Thank you for the inspiration. C
Hmmmm! It seems there could be some fond memories pieced into that fabric! I just like the way it looks and can picture pieces of it in art collages. I am not a quilter, but it gives me ideas. Blessings! from Canada 🇨🇦
That's a brilliant idea. I never know what to do with leftovers, and now I have ideas! I'm not a quilter, I just sew clothes for myself and now my dolls.
This is a brilliant idea for scraps. It's given me the incentive to stop talking about doing something with my fabric and actually do something with it. I also make art/junk journals as well as regular sewing. A bolt like this will come in handy when I want to make something non-garment & quilt related.
Oh hey thank you so much! ☀️❤️. Yes, This is my 2nd bolt, the first one got used up in about 10 months for various projects. 🌸✂️ My daughter does some junk journaling too, and now I am even considering making my own PAPER from fabric scraps! 😻
I do this with all of my scrapes bigger than 1" square ⬜ And I love it. I find it quite meditative and great if you don't know what to sew that day. With my scrapebuster material, I make sewing machine covers and sewing mats for my crafty friends and relatives. ❤❤❤
Addictive to watch..I love scrapes😂I have done 2 crumb quilts and 2 strip quilts with scrapes like this. Most fun I have ever had! I listen to books or watch/listen to old movies while I do this mindless sewing❤❤ difference with me…I’m a crazy ironer. And starcher..so add a lot more time to my “bolt”! Plus, one box of scrapes bought at a yard sale, took we 3 wks to wash and iron to get them ready to sort and made my “scrapes”! (KH)
I don’t sew, I used to when I was much younger. I just enjoyed watching you work the pile of scraps into the fabric and see all the pretty colors come together. Keep doing you ❤
Beautiful......i love crumb quilting....love what you have done here. i usually do it for about one yard at time and then cut to what i'm making...(bag or whatever)....
This 'task' is what I call sewing meditation! Now this type of "fabric" works well for sewing shopping/tote bags that you can gift your friends. Keep an eye handy for sheets in good shape for inexpensive liner. I have several of these "scrap bags". When I go to the store, I always get comments. Plus, they are a nice reminder of prior projects.
Nice tip! I like to find old vinyl flannel backed tablecloths for grocery bag liners! I too get lots of nice comments on my cute grocery totes! Here's a link to my bags playlist if you like! th-cam.com/play/PLNgJsWBvdLlFDoBSDeScg5ocNAxu0whwV.html

My brain has tried to visualize this many times. So YES! YOU ARE truly an inspiration to JUST DO IT! Your product is awesome and I see quilted bed jackets in my future. I live in Arizona and in the summer one needs a cozy jacket in Summer due to air-conditioning. I wear light sweatshirts or a second over shirt but someone gave me a quilted jacket and it's quite colorful. I wear it continuously. I even get sick of it. So since my scraps are sorted by color, I can see myself making different colored scrap jackets to be indoors this summer; easily slipped off to go out in the garden. Love your narration and concise delivery of this information. THANK YOU.

So many lovely fabrics! I even spotted a couple that are in my own stash/scrap boxes. This is such a great use of bits & bobs of cloth. You could even incorporate those pesky quilt blocks that didn't turn out quite right, but that you can't bear to throw away.
This video was amazing to watch. I've never thought of making a bolt of fabric with scraps. What a cool idea and how amazing it came out. I'm sure those 20 hours was worth it. Well done Annette! That was quite a challenge but you came through it and look what you have to show for it. I can’t wait to see what you make with it x
What a feat! I have loads of scraps and every now and again I make blocks with them to use later on. Probably have enough to make a long bolt, but i wouldnt want to start cutting it up again!
Congratulations, you did it. You will have so many options. Tiffany makes piano key borders with strips of various widths. She cuts them all the same length and sews 2,4,... until she has a length. Rolls the long bit up, and adds the next length to the end, then rolls it up again. When she needs a scrappy border she cuts it to the length needed. The lady from the quilted forest, sews jelly roll strips together and rolls two ends on an elastic reel, from her shop, takes a lot less room to store. Keep a theme or colour type and do scrappy fast? Have fun, All the best.
I use mine and other people's scraps to make fabric to make other projects with. I have made bowl cozies, casserole cozies, casserole hotpads, and I plan on making myself some overalls.

If you tell people you need scraps you will get many more than you can use!
WOW what a happy scrappy memory quilt this will make. I really love this. And one foot is 30,48 centimeters, so in all you had seen together almost 7,5 metres of fabric. Well done.
Thanks so much! ☀️
Brilliant! Love this idea! I made a 10 yards snippet roll once with my smaller scraps. I was able to get numerous projects out of it- including fabric bowls. ❤ I so want to try your idea out. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks so much, Stephanie! ☀️. And you’re very welcome.💕
This is amazing! You inspire me not to waste! The old adage "Want not waste not" must be revived far and wide!
I'm glad to hear it! ☀️ Thanks!
Hi Cindy! You made me laugh this morning! ☀️☀️☀️. Thanks so much, and I look forward to using it up too! 🌸
yes!!!! i did this 3 weeks ago and was made to feel i wasted time. You have validated my work. Thank you!!!!
You’re very welcome! ☀️🩵☀️. I’m working on a new video right now using up some of my scrap bolt!!! Stay tuned! Once it’s all gone I’ll make another!
I'm so impressed with your scrap management! That's fantastic ! 💛
I sew them all together and make craft room storage bowls ( pellon foam) ❤ it’s like I keep little pieces of fabric memories from many different sewing projects 😁
Aww that is very cool! ☀️💕
Oh wow! That sounds so awesome, and I'm glad that you saw my video at the right time! I hope you let me know how your kiddo quilts turn out! ❤️❤️❤️
I've sewn my scraps together to get certain size squares so need suggestions from what people have made from scrap yardage.
Thanks for your video, well done, you
I appreciate your kind comments, Peg! ❤️ THANK YOU! ☀️☀️☀️.
That sounds like it will be gorgeous! Thanks! ☀️💕
You've inspired me to tame my scraps. Thank you.
I love working with scraps. Creative and fun
Scraps are FUN! ☀️✂️🧵
Soy española y no entiendo ingles, pero me gustan mucho tus ideas, miles de gracias por compartir ❤❤❤❤
Gracias!!! De nada! Tengo un poco espanol! ☀️

I am glad you enjoyed this! Any scraps that were big enough will get reused in other projects, so no worries! Have a great day! ☀️✂️🧵
That’s so great!!! 💛🩵💛
WOW! lots of tedious work, but the final result is FABULOUS❤ I don't sew on a regular basis, but i do sew. I am definately inspired. TY
Thank you! 😊
Vous êtes un génie ! C'est un recyclage formidable 👍
Merci beaucoup! ☀️💕♻️
I did that too! Mine so far is a fat quarter size. So much fun.
It is fun, and we never know how it will turn out! ☀️❤️
Once you see it all as one piece you get all these creative juices flowing and I see garden furniture covers and picnic bowl covers, all odicoated for our wet English weather. Thank you for the inspiration. C
Wow, thank you! ☀️💕
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🥰. What more can I say. I’m heading to my sewing room NOW. Thank you so much….
Ha! You made me laugh! Love it! Have SEW MUCH FUN! ☀️🌸🧵✂️
i made a headboard for my bed using this method, it looks great!
Wow I bet it is beautiful! ❤️☀️☀️
Какая Вы умница! Труженица! Спасибо!❤
You're welcome! ☀️
That was a stitch and save marathon well done
Thank you! ☀️☀️
Love this idea!, so many things to make with scrappy fabric,
Wow! I loved this video. Such an inspiration!❤
Thank you so much!!☀️🌸
Hmmmm! It seems there could be some fond memories pieced into that fabric! I just like the way it looks and can picture pieces of it in art collages. I am not a quilter, but it gives me ideas. Blessings! from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you so much! ☀️❤️
Thank you for recording all the time each step took!
You're very welcome! ☀️
That's a brilliant idea. I never know what to do with leftovers, and now I have ideas!
I'm not a quilter, I just sew clothes for myself and now my dolls.
Thank you! ☀️. I love the idea of making a vest or coat from something like this!
I do this with all of my scrapes bigger than 1" square ⬜
And I love it. I find it quite meditative and great if you don't know what to sew that day.
With my scrapebuster material, I make sewing machine covers and sewing mats for my crafty friends and relatives.
❤❤❤
Wonderful! I love working with scraps! ☀️
I admire your patience to put all those pieces together 😮! I don't know if I could 😊.
Thank you Mirea! ✂️ I just love the look, so I keep doing it! The last bolt I made was a year ago, and it was fun using it up. ☀️
Fantastic tutorial. It was fast which held my attention. Enjoyed this so much.
Hello! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it! Thanks! ☀️
(KH)
Thanks KH! ☀️. I binge watch shows while I do this chain piecing too! SEW much fun! 🧵✂️♻️✂️
Absolutely love this idea! And yes, I do have scraps! Thank you for sharing ❤
You are so welcome! ☀️
I don’t sew, I used to when I was much younger. I just enjoyed watching you work the pile of scraps into the fabric and see all the pretty colors come together.
Keep doing you ❤
Thanks, Norma! ☀️❤️
How enlightening! I've never considered such an obvious thing to do! Love your channel, talents, & tone of your voice so encouraging & soothing.
Thank you Barb! I truly appreciate it! ☀️✂️🧵
Beautiful......i love crumb quilting....love what you have done here. i usually do it for about one yard at time and then cut to what i'm making...(bag or whatever)....
Very cool! ☀️. I procrastinate, so end up with way too much! 🤣
I’m so glad to see you sewing your scraps again.
They never end! 🤣
Oooo, I can see a beautiful scrappy jacket using this bolt of fabric 🙂
Yes you can! ☀️💕😻
I do love what you do with your scraps. It is inspiring me to start
I'm glad to hear it! ☀️
A lady of my ❤- !
I can't waste any fabric.😅
Right. Wider seam. My lesson learned.
Thank you! ☀️
Very cool Annette! Big job, but turned out great. I’ll be watching to see what you use the big fabric roll for.
Thanks so much! ☀️☀️ I made a different bolt over a year ago, and here is the very end of that bolt! It was quite satisfying using it up! 😻th-cam.com/video/tZDSpkkoCsU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iceszbr4zI22qRga
THANK YOU.
Thank you so much Yvonne! ☀️ I think scraps make gorgeous clothing projects for sure! Have SEW much fun! ✂️⭐️🧵
❤❤❤YOUR ARE BEST WORKER,
Thank you! ☀️
My grandmother was a master quilter and I haven’t been able to bring myself to toss her (massive) bin of scraps…I normally make clothing and don’t use quilting cottons much but this would be an amazing project! I especially like the idea of using the fabric for insulating curtains
I hope this idea was helpful to you! ☀️☀️. It sounds like you've got some ideas to try out! Good luck!
@@sunbeamfabricart my niece has also recently asked to learn to sew and she still remembers her great grandmother so it will also be a great project for her, especially if I get through the first round or two of matching scraps for her
Великолепно!!! Какая красивая получилась работа!
Thank you very much! ☀️
Thank you for the inspiration to do more with scraps. I save all sizes of scraps and know I will enjoy sorting them in various sizes and stitching them as you have shown.
Hi Alice! ☀️ i’m so glad it was helpful!💕
Incredible! TY I’ve made a few things using my scraps in a similar fashion, including a pouffe (sp) which turned out great. But the scraps never seem to go away so now you have sent me on a mission and I can’t wait lol TFS from Canada 🇨🇦
Oh my! You are so very welcome! ☀️❤️ And, yes indeed the scraps NEVER go away! 🤣🤣🤣
Can’t wait to see the projects you make from your scrape bolt👋🥰👋
Ditto! ☀️❤️
I absolutely loved this thank you so much for sharing this.. I am inspired!
You are so welcome!☀️💕
I admire you! I did this the last 2 days and thought I was crazy. But did enough to make a bag with. Could never do that much at a time! Wow!!! Great job!!!
Hi Brenda! ☀️☀️ I have sworn that I will do a small batches of scraps. But I am a total procrastinator, so I never do. I let them build 🆙 until I have so, so, SO many. 😂. When I used up the end of my last bolt, I did make three large grocery totes! th-cam.com/video/tZDSpkkoCsU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=p83dFAIcuXrbVWG0
So many lovely fabrics! I even spotted a couple that are in my own stash/scrap boxes. This is such a great use of bits & bobs of cloth. You could even incorporate those pesky quilt blocks that didn't turn out quite right, but that you can't bear to throw away.
Thank you! ⭐️ And yes, so true, the orphans and the wonky blocks could be paired up here! ☀️
This video was amazing to watch. I've never thought of making a bolt of fabric with scraps. What a cool idea and how amazing it came out. I'm sure those 20 hours was worth it. I cannot wait to see what you do with it. You can easily make it a quilt top just how it is. Put the pieces together to make it whatever size you want. It would look awesome. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed it ❤
Thank you so much! ☀️💕 I made a different bolt about a year ago. I made a quilt, some zip bags, and some grocery sized tote bags. i’m not sure what I’ll do with this one. Yet!
You could put a pool noodle across the back of your desk.Well done that was indeed a major effort.
Thanks so much! And great idea! 💡 🩵
Awe Inspiring. I applaud your diligence. Tks for sharing.
You're very welcome! ☀️❤️
Thank you for this video, I'm so inspired. Like you said, I also once started and got discouraged midway and I left it. I'm definitely going back to it.❤️
You got this! ☀️💕 Thanks for watching!
I am absolutely in love with my blade saver.
💕☀️
Wow! All I can say is Wow!
Thanks so much Kathy! ☀️
Amazing mosaic cloth ❤
Thank you! 😊
Well done Annette! That was quite a challenge but you came through it and look what you have to show for it. I can’t wait to see what you make with it x
Thank you so much, Frances! ☀️✂️
What a feat! I have loads of scraps and every now and again I make blocks with them to use later on. Probably have enough to make a long bolt, but i wouldnt want to start cutting it up again!
Thanks! Your method definitely works! ☀️
Thanks so much Kathleen! ☀️ Great ideas for sure! 🧵✂️
I use mine and other people's scraps to make fabric to make other projects with. I have made bowl cozies, casserole cozies, casserole hotpads, and I plan on making myself some overalls.
That’s great! ☀️👍
