Spent many a Sat morning in the butts on the Dean Range before transitioning to shooting. Gotta love the Snap, Thump, Crack, particularly over 800 Yards.
Those target mechanisms look buttery smooth compared to the monstrosities that are some of the middle targets on Century range at Bisley. Those ones somehow require your entire bodyweight to get them down, but still require all your strength to put them back up again!
What is this pause after shot 5? We intentionally make the gap short to hurry up those daft mauser/m17/p14 users.... Also after 8 when we were allowed to use Garands many years ago :P

Smiley faces help maintain morale, but as a marine you know that morale isn’t allowed so no smiley faces

Unfortunatly it was a state championship.... so we had to give them a full 20 seconds.... for a club shoot we normally shorten it right up.
I've been present when a round hit a (steel) frame and wanged down the (concrete) butts. No casualties that day :)
A Brit there should, like in this set, never be any steel exposed!
