Again this who are you to judge bullshit. Its critique Lauryn . right ? I say that Robert Glasper CAN critique and he has a right. why didnt she say anything about cutting a pay in half ?! whats up with that ?
She should have kept quiet... Everything he said about her was confirmed just by the way she responded. Arrogance. She didn't even give good excuse for being late or a good counter for any of his hot takes.
On her tardiness for shows:
“Me being late to shows isn’t because I don’t respect my fans or their time, but the contrary, It can be argued that I care too much, and insist on things being right. I like to switch my show up regularly, change arrangements, add new songs, etc. This often leads to long sound checks, which leads to doors opening late, which leads to the show getting a late start. This element of perfectionism is about wanting the audience to experience the very best and most authentic musical experience they can from what I do.”
Did she forget what it's like to be a fan? Would she have appreciated as a fan waiting over an hour for her favorite artist to take the stage, and then not even performing a whole set? Part of the fan experience is getting what they pay for which is a TIMELY concert, feeling like you've gotten your monies worth and the very best from the artist. Do she explain this process to the audience every time she's late for shows and tell them "I care so much about yall that I HAVE to be late!! My perfectionism demands it!" Girl BYE! That's the ultimate disrespect to your fans.
Why is everyone coming for Lauryn? You can take a look at her and tell something ain't right. She ain't been right since 1998. when she did that 2000 MTV special I was like Oh my Goodness look at her- "They" got to her. Instead of criticizing her we should be concerned before we have another Donny Hathaway situation. I feel sad for her current state. To me, it's like watching sickly looking Michael Jackson trying to dance with bleached skin or Whitney looking crack skinny missing notes or senile Quincy with loose lips going off on interviews. When our black legends turn to a horrible fate we should cover them. But no we - Black Folk like to gossip and pull them down further. White people still covering for Elvis and Frank Sinatra scandals and drugs and more. Go up in Graceland and say something against their King see what happens. But We like to put our legends on blast at first chance. Leave Lauryn Hill alone!! Why not go after Cardi B and Nikki Minaj and how they depict and represent black women and women of color. Lauryn is trying to come back from the sunken place

Yes its sad to watch talented people acting like they are unreachable and untouchable. And if we talk about color, she mostly worked with musicians of her color and had no respect for them. She must acknowledge that she is on the wrong path. If somebody doesnt speak up, she will think that its allright to treat people that way. Everybody will think that its allright to be an asshole, if you have a couple of good albums. This is why its important to speak up. Nobody can help her better than she can. Who doesn't have a manager and a record label ?

All I know is that I paid to go see her twice. 2002, she was a no show. 10 years later, she was an hour and 25 minutes late, did 25 minutes, talked for 15 minutes and got mad because the audience ( her fans) were getting frustrated with her talking for 15 minutes, so she walks out.

We had a chance to open up for Robert Glasper this year, and he is 100% authentic and like this all the time. There’s no ego, he doesn’t take himself seriously, he’s a man that has evolved into a level of freedom that a lot of folks rarely reach. He speaks his mind no matter who you are, and he’s very honest! A lot of people on this post don’t know him but if you knew him, you wouldn’t be saying he’s a diva... TRUST.
This artist is being completely HONEST, FUNNY, APPROACHABLE, and ENTERTAINING.. It’s THAT simple.

Years ago I met a gentleman who was a musician at a party. He told me he worked on that "Miseducation" album and how Lauryn took all the credit. Although he seemed very genuine and sincere... I just couldn't imagine her being that way. This confirms what he told me.

Did it the concert of what 35 years 25 years of miss education, the lawn Hill, and keep well all of these members on stage and thank them. So what is the problem? Well she took producer credit…all the musicians said especially James poyser they came up with the melody’s of doo wop & other songs which inspired lyrics out of her in that sense they are entitled to producer credit…& that when it came to submit the album she changed her number on them 😮 I was shocked! It actually made me feel sad that she was so callous it taints her image in a way!

Some say that's why she never came out with another release. More than likely true.

Lauryn Hill's concert was the worst I've ever been to. 45 minutes late, spent her time on stage turning away from the mic to rip into her band every song. They were doing fine, she was not. Taking it all out on her band in front of a full audience, I lost all respect for her.

You know how you ALL have a favorite song that you listen to over and over, THIS interview is like one of my FAVORITE songs !! I can listen to it OVER and OVER cause its REAL and speaks to my soul. ESPECIALLY the Lauryn HIll part. As a professional musican , I've had a similar experience with a band member of The Revolution who was just WAY TOO FULL of herself. Now I have hung out with PRINCE himself and he was VERY down to earth and cool with me, so if HE who was her boss can be cool then SHE should have been able to be cool, Like Robert said of Lauryn, YOU have NOT done enough to have the BIG HEAD and be like that !! What has he done? I mean he's a great musician, and he makes good stuff, but...really, other than neo soul heads, and the jazzy soul underground types, who really knows him? Lauryn Hill can go anywhere in this world, and just speak on topics, and she's gonna draw thousands to listen to her, this dude talking to people in his own home town who don't even know who he is. Lauryn Hill's social and political messages in her music, transcended past the music, he just plays good notes, that's it. He has no impact on the African-American culture, he's definitely not an icon. So, not sure how u feel cause he played with some legends that vindicates him as somebody to call out her?.

Lauryn is one of my favourite artists of all time but its no secret she's an aweful person and I think she has been for a very long time. I saw a clip here on youtube where they held a high school graduation ceremony for her and another one of the other cast members cause they had missed their graduations. Whoopy Goldberg played the role of the principal and when she called Lauryn to come fetch her "diploma" she referred to her as "our resident diva in training." lol

I'm a huge Glasper fan, and I love the Black Radio albums. I think he has done something many others struggle to do which is crossover from jazz to mainstream R&B. Many Jazz musicians and artists struggle to do this and he has been VERY successful and deserving of his success. As far as Lauryn Hill, let's not get mad just because he told his personal stories and personal experience when asked about it. All of which I have heard from close friends who have sang and played with her. It's sad but I think he believes that she is a great person deep down inside. And I pray whatever she is going through she can start making a change for the positive.
