Being nearly 60 and 50kg overweight, squats, or even just getting up off or down on the ground, is the hardest thing for me as I have no quad strength. These versions make me feel better about beginning a new routine. Thank you!..👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇦🇺
As someone around 55 that started exercising again about 23 months ago... sticking with it for a year, taking it slow, and making sure you don't injure yourself... you can make a LOT of progress. But give yourself a lot of time. Stick with it, go slowly, and you will get stronger. =)
I will be 67 years old in June. I have led a sedentary lifestyle for the last few years. I'm 75 kg overweight so morbidly obese. I don't have a chair with arms.😳😅 So I'm moving to the next step. I'm believing I will reach all my goals. I want to weigh 135 lbs. and I'm giving myself by 70 years old to have accomplished my goal.
I started doing squats about 3 weeks ago. I am 67F. I was happy to see this new video. In this short time, my balance has improved and I'm firming up, getting stronger, and maybe lost a bit of weight. Thanks for your wonderful videos.
Brad you are always very informative and fun in your presentations. That is why you and Bob have so many subscribers that actually enjoy watching the content. 💕 from California 🌁.
I walk 7 days a week...30 squats in the morning and before bed...light weights..flexible vegetaranian way of eating...lots of water...i feel great...no health issues, meds, etc...lots of energy
The demonstrations shown were all done with the feet flat on the ground. What are your thoughts about squatting with elevated heels (heels resting on a 2" board as an example). It seems to emphasize the quadriceps more when heels are elevated, but is their any additional risk to the knees or quadriceps tendons when doing them this way?
Love watching your videos from here in the UK. they have been very helpful to me and are always interesting. Lots of love to Bob, he is amazing and an inspiration, in fact you are both amazing. Thank you. Paul
I think this point needs to be considered: Ultimately the body is a machine with the ability to heal itself to some degree. It would be interesting to interview a mechanical engineer explaining the destructive force put on the knee when it is bent at an acute angle. When they design structures and machinery, they have to keep that wear and tear in mind. Seems like there is a formula using the weight of the structure and angle of the joint to determine pressure on the joint. Maybe I'm wrong but seems like it puts a sheering force on the cartilage. Once the cartilage is worn away the joint experiences pain. While the knee can bend at an acute angle it comes with an orthopedic cost. The cost is unnoticeable at first but excruciating by the time you realize you've worn out the cartilage.
I have no trouble with the chair 'squats' but when I try standing and squatting, I can't really make my knees bend very far at all. It's a small crouch not a squat. It's not that my knees hurt, but just they feel like they are not going any further down - too weak? If I hold onto the edge of a table I can go further down, so maybe it's balance? I will keep trying. The ones that start from the chair will be good for me to get up and do while I'm sitting for a long time at my desk.
And some say you don't know "squat", ha ha on q-ing for music 🎶 everyday is Saturday night but I can't wait for Sunday morning 🌄🎶 Bring forth bunny 🐰 bon-bons, and squats help strengthening your lower back!
My knees were so weak. I had to start with baby steps. I still have to deal with arthritis in my knees but the weakness is gone and the exercise helps with the arthritis I think too.

I do squats as I brush my teeth 2 minute timer on the electric toothbrush and twice a day. Get about 30-40 squats each time. Easy to remember to do.

Is there a modified version for knee pain
Thank you Brad & Mike
Gotta start somewhere..I started now 😁
YES!
Sadly, if we don’t keep our legs strong we become feeble and end up in a nursing home. These exercises are a good way to prevent that from happening.
So True !!!!!

Hey, thanks 😊!!! I just did some of my squats with an exercise band 😉...thanks for the reminder. Plus the easier ones are good warmup warm down
What if u have knee pain??
Thanks Brad and Mike 💚👍

It seems that the thigh muscles are some of the first to go, as we get older. I'm not real good with squats but I think I'll give them a try.
Best of luck! Keep trying if it's hard at first, they are always hard at first!
I am 75 and believe me it is important to work to have strong thigh muscles.

My snap crackle pop knees make me cringe at the thought of doing squats, but I’ll stick in my ear pods and drown out the noise and try these! Thanks!
Happy to help!
Me too 😂
Great job Brad and Mike! You guys work well together.
Thank you!!
Feels good on the hips. Like it is strengthening them.
Great to hear!
Can you advise alternatives to people with ankle conditions (for example I have a fused ankle, therefore I don’t have the flexibility to squat)
Hope Bob gets well soon and returns to TH-cam
What's wrong with Bob?
I have a bad knee. Can I do a modified squat?
You’ve got me sweating! I did all the squats for 10 reps. A couple of styles were really difficult

Brad I'm happy you are alive too!
I have spondylosis/stenosis/sciatica. Are these squats okay for me? Thanks for your time. ☺
Make sure you have good form and if you experience any more pain or new pain, please discontinue. If no pain, they should be good

LOL, the more you do them, the easier they'll get :) Don't give up!
What’s safe with marginal knees?
I do this at the window sill where I can give a little tug to get me started.
I love Bob. That said, Haaaaay Mike❣
LOL, we love Bob & Mike! (and Brad too of course)
@@BobandBrad Omg, yes -- Brad gets love too!
Is it safe to do squats and lunges if I suffer from herniated L4-L5? What if the lunge makes the sciatic pain worse? Are there accommodations?
Can I do these with bulging disc & Spondyolosthis & stenosis?
good video.
I like Mike! He's funny!
Mikes rear ankle rolls quite a bit on his split squats, seems like that could be problematic?
Good observation
Can you do a video on developing the ability to sit in a resting squat? thank you!
I have added this to our to do list!
@@BobandBrad yay, thank you!!
Is resting squat also known as the Asian squat?

I've heard that squats are great for raising testosterone levels.
Include comments about/for people with artificial knees.
The fruit is in the pudding, no one can stop someone to stop, I won’t stop because keto works.
