Old battery voltage meter was donated to me by David Monette from the USA. I have at home similar to what was used in Europe. I wanted to try this meter, but I didn't get a working old battery. This type of battery has not been manufactured in our country for more than 30 years. My battery in the video is no longer working. The batteries measure the value of individual cells that have up to 3V.
If you have any information, you can share it with others on my Facebook page:

If you have any questions about the process, use machines or other things, ask me in the comments. I try to answer everyone and as soon as possible.
I'm sorry for my bad English, it's not my language.
I'm uploading videos about restoring mechanical things. I'm uploading videos about the restoration of old wooden things. I fix things as best I can. I am self-taught. Therefore, if some procedures are wrong, forgive me. Thank you.
If you like this renewal, share and send :)

I really enjoyed the restoration! You do such excellent work. A master in the attention to detail. Glad the meter arrived to you in good condition. I never knew the gauge was originally blue. I looked for an old diagram of how they originally worked, but was not able to find anything. Glad it's in good hands - I know you will take care of it. I have another item in mind to send, more on that later. David
Thank you so much David for this amazing item to renovate. I have a similar tester see. video on this my tester I found the user manual, so hopefully it will be the same :) Thanks again David. A hug for you Radek and Veronika
Thank you for restoring this great old tool. I have Perfect volt meter gauge from my grandfather' a time in the early 20th century, and it still works. It is only a gauge with connectors on the back. There is no handle or probes. I attached wires and new probes and use it in automotive work. Your volt meter could be 100 years old. Thank you and smiles from t h e USA.
Wow, thank you Pat, but you know him for sure, he comes from your country :) Have a nice day, Radek
Very definitely a fine piece of workmanship on this tool. With the addition of this tool to your collection, you could start your own museum, irons, tools, etc. . Thanks for sharing this video with us and please remember that Texas is watching you work with a big smile on my face. Paul
Thank you friend, I don't have space for a museum, but I've been working with one museum for more than ten years and it's gratifying to see so many things that have gone through my hands over the years :) Have a nice day Paul :) Radek
@@VeradonaRestoration I often wondered where you had the room for all the things I've seen you work your magic on, passing them on anyway you can is great. Paul :)
Радек, ну ты уже знаешь что я восторге от твоих работ!!! И в этот раз я не разчаровался!! Красавчик!!)))))))
Ну, я напрягся, прежде чем прочитать это. :)))
The serpentine part acts as a resistor drawing current from the cell. The meter reads the voltage across the resistor. The idea is that the cell tester gives an indication of the condition of the cell under load, not just a reading of its open circuit voltage (like a plain digital voltmeter would do). Beautiful restoration, and thank you for keeping the meter blue.
Thanks to Gary for the expert explanation. Radek
That’s an interesting product, and an excellent restoration! Thanks Radek, thanks David!
Thank you David :) Radek
Alexander :) Radek
We know the tester and the restoration is Perfect! It says so on the dial!
Thanks John :) Radek
Nice job 👍👍👍 My Father had a couple of these hanging in a old tool shed on the farm, Oh gosh that was years ago, it's crazy how fast time flies by, & somthing as simple as a old voltage meter takes you back in time.. 🙂 👍👍👍
Yes, it's true, it's a pity that it's only for decoration today. Have a nice day Radek
handsomely renovated. you are the master of restoration
Thank you Jerka, I am honored :) Radek
Excellent work, as always. You leave no stone unturned.
Thank you Lindsay :)
Radek there is nothing wrong with your skill level being self taught very impressive my friend. Keep up the outstanding work, I really look forward to the videos you and Veronika put up. You for your technical ability and skill level and for Veronika's cooking. She won my heart for that by the way. Don't stop my friend. George
Thank you to our friend for the encouraging comment, always pleased :) Beautiful day George :) Veronica and Radek
Wow, Radek - I'd never seen anything like this before; but now that it's restored it looks like The Paralyzer Ray from an old 1930's "Flash Gordon" episode! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the funny comment, now that I'm looking at it you're right. Lol Radek
So cool! Love all the different things that you restore, and as John B said, it's 'Perfect'! Thanks so much for posting, take care - stay healthy!
Thank you so much Dee :) Radek
Thank you for painting the dial back to Blue. I would have understood the polished look. I liked the Blue!
Thanks John, at first I didn't want to, but I liked the shade of blue and that convinced me :)
Hello Radek beautiful tool beautiful restoration good job
Thank you so much Vince :) Radek
Отлично придумано!!! Весь ролик смотришь и думаешь, для чего же эта штука!!! Лайк!!!
Спасибо :)
Awesome restoration. As old as I am I've never seen anything like it. It must be pretty old.. 😆😂
Thank you Nena, but I have no idea of old age, I also saw him for the first time :) Radek
I love that you refurbished each side of those little nuts . . . I so would have gone out and just bought new ones
Thank you Mike :)
Užil jsem si to znovu Radku, děkuji.
Děkuji :) Radek
I would d like to see you restoring that battery one day
... well, I plan to, but ... Radek
That was first class, Radek! What a fascinating tool!
Maybe you should think about restoring your battery?
yes, i plan to, but I have no idea if i can recharge the battery. After all, it has not been produced for more than 30 years.
Brava!!! This turned out fantastically!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much Samantha :) Radek
Very cool. I like how you used the lathe for painting.
Thanks :)
Nice job, with that meter you never run out of batteries!
Thanks :))
Awesome restoration! Right down to the nuts!!
Thank you so much Jeff :) Radek
Very nice !! I was amazed when you cleaned the indicator dial off and found it was blue not black like it looked to be ! Then you polished it and I said now that looks nice !! But I am glad you stuck to the original blue it all looks fabulous !! Another fantastic restoration !! 👍👍
Thank you very much Robert. I also had a dilemma of how to leave the dial. If it were possible to use the meter nowadays, I would probably choose polished gold, but for the fact that it will only be as a decoration, I decided for the original look. Radek
nice restoration sir..ready to ship back again.
The battery tester came out awesome!!
Thank you so much :)
Brilliant restoration Radek, I've never seen one of those before.
You're not alone, buddy, neither am I. Lol Radek
I was just hoping for a new vid and there it was! Very beautiful restoration. From the completed task and then immediately cut to the recipe, I must say that I thought you were going to test it on the food to see how powerful it was! Yum! This recipe will give you energy. 🧲⚡️⚡️⚡️🤩
Thank you for the funny comment Sarah :) Radek

The picture of the pipe organ is what stands out in my mind. It reminds me of the one that was in the church I grew up in.
Yes they are beautiful, I admire people who can make it :) Radek
✝️ - as a Christian, I associate pipe organs with singing Hymns and Christmas carols to God at church
Beautiful restoration, and as usual, amazing attention to detail! Looking forward to Veronika's latest recipe! Love from U.S.A...
Thank you so much Braxton :) Veronica and Radek

Great restoration bro. I think the hard work was worth it. Yep no matter what you do you can make everyone happy. Everyone has an opinion. I just enjoyed seeing you working on it!! 😁🤟👍
Yes, that was said beautifully, thanks
Radek looked beautiful, congratulations.
Thanks Jose Luiz :) Radek
Hey!
It turned out to be a beautiful and useful device.
Note that chicago "Radek" - 4 stripes on the wooden handle.
By the way, you can change the resistance rating (put another one) and then it will be possible to work with modern batteries.
Ha quedado como recién salido de fábrica, Yo solo lo he visto en manuales de mecánica muy viejos.
Excelente pieza de colección-
Muy buen trabajo Radek, saludos a Veronika.
P.D.: Ya paso por su canal a ver la receta.
Gracias Nesel, me alegro mi amiga :) Veronica a Radek
Que bonitos son los objetos antiguos y que bien quedan restaurados. Perfecto, gracias.
Muchas gracias Joaquin :) Radek
That is very cool looking Veradona. It looked like the 'hand' in the middle was just copper plated(possibly the tines too.)
Sim, é possível, obrigado. Radek

Excellent work👍👍👍 . Thanks for sharing
I thank you :) Radek
When we are done putting up with Covid folks should go and Czech out that beautiful organ in person!
I do have a tiny inquiry though, IF you had the option would you have left the gauge unpainted (original metal)?
Yes, I was thinking of polished brass, but the beautiful original shade of blue overwhelmed me to bring it back to its original colors.
Bonsoir franchement c’est magnifique 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Woah, merci beaucoup :) Radek
Como siempre.....excelente video....gracias y muchos exitos ....saludos desde Peru
Muchas gracias Prueba :) Radek
Ficou perfeito 👏👏👏. Saudações do Brasil.
Obrigado Marcelo :) Radek
Very well done Radek !!.. When i was a kid the man who change car batteries in my neighborhood had a tool similar to this and i remember being very curious of what was the purpose ot that tool, of course i did not understand at that time.
Thanks for your story :) Radek
We take today's miniturization of tools for granted. Early designers didn't plastics to work with, I think.
Yeah I agree!
Nice job brother. Like from India.
Thank you so much :)
Super awesome restore!
Thanks :)
Nicely done! Uhhh that device really looks nasty, like some sort of electric fork for torturing... 😂😂😂
:))
This is a beautiful restoration sir. In order to test it properly I believe you will need to lay your hands on one of those 30+ year old battery cells to restore. (🤞🙄?)
Probably not :) Thanks Tim , Radek
Ahoj, a great restoration Radek. I was worried about you when Veronika uploaded a new recipe but I couldn't find anything new by you. I'm relieved that you're ok. I've never seen a battery tester like this. Nick
Thanks Nick, yeah, it's nice of you. I just didn't have time to finish a new video :) Have a nice day Radek
Good paint job. I thought the brass dial would also have been good unpainted
Yes, I thought about it too, but the beautiful blue hue made me return it to its original colors.
You just made that naturally beautiful shiny Gauge look like crap
I thought for sure you were going to forget the food but u passed the test.. BTW great video as always...
Lol, thanks Gary :) Radek
Krásná práce👍🇨🇿
Děkuji Petře :) Radek
This is very well done!
Thanks :)
Comme d'habitude très beau travail, en attendant la prochaine vidéo, bravo
Merci beaucoup Daniel :) Radek
krásná věcička a nádherná práce.

Great job Radek. I bet the pork sandwiches that Veronica made was excellent.
Thanks David, yes you're right, yummy :) I hope you saw Veronica preparation video ?! Radek
@@VeradonaRestoration Yes. I seen the video.
@@davidkraiger4377 thanks David :)
Looks good. It looks like something to use on the grill to check the meat's temperature
that ? :))
That is the strangest piece of equipment I have seen in a long time! At first glance I thought it was a fork of some sort. You did a good job on the restoring. I do have a question though. What is the point of the wavy bit of metal in between the two prongs? I want to guess the decade this was used in as around 1910-1920, maybe? I really don't know. Stay safe and healthy over there!
It's a current shunt to make sure that the battery is tested when it is supplying a substantial amount of current. No point testing the no-load voltage, as what you really want to know when testing a high-current capacity battery is that it can deliver. So the wavy bit of metal will probably put a load of maybe 100A on the battery, and the meter will show that the battery voltage doesn't collapse at that load. The current shunt would probably get quite hot, so it is wavy for two reasons - to cope with thermal expansion, and to make it a little bit longer.
@@revbobuk I see. Thank you!
That's the style I used on my first auto job in 1962. It wasn't easy to use. It tested a single cell at a time.
Yes, thank you :)
Opět luxusní práce 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 a oběd taky 😉🤤👍🏼
Díky Karle :) Radek
Mais uma vez, parabéns pela maravilhosa restauração

is a discharge tester
Voltage drop test? I just said the same thing then I saw your comment.
Like it says on the dial, Perfect
Thank you Bob, sorry English is not my native language. Radek
Really nice job. Could you explain the plating - did you copper plate first, then something else on top? What was the top layer?
