16 is technically possible but it would probably be unstable and also its hard to get 16 people with modded switches in one call

Imagine 2-3-4 player speedruns
It would have to have a lot of bugfixes before it got a category, although all the major bugs might be fixed by the time it's released
If this gets too much attention won't nintendo just sue the creator and take it down?
@@Marco_mm If it’s an ips patch and not just a straight up rom, no they can’t do anything.
@@Marco_mm Nintendo doesn't do anything unless they're planning something similar or it corrupts it's IPs, this is perfectly safe as long as they're not making a multiplayer 3D Mario
It’s crazy how good any% guys are. Like this is two people collecting moons at the same time and it is only 7 seconds faster than record
True. I will personally not be satisfied until this is faster than 1P/intended 2P TAS. When it is, though, it will be one of the greatest speedruns ever.
Considering the huge advantage multiplayer is, beating the TAS alone wouldn't nearly deserve it being called one of the greatest runs ever. It wouldn't be close to the level of greatness of Tyron's 57:21 in standard any% for example.
If Tyron and Mitch decided to do online runs together and grinded it for a very good time, that could be one of the greatest runs ever.

No. He is ruining a game amd doing something he shouldn't. Asshole deserves to pay millions to nintendo

the work crafty has put in cant be understated its not like he modded a multiplayer game and made a custom server the game has as far as im aware ZERO multiplayer support in any way shape or form. all of that needed to be created
It was stated he pretty much had to reverse engineer and figure out what the game code was since that's obviously no where outside Nintendo. He accidentally figured it out and just has been working to improve it so it can work with minor issues.
The only multiplayer it has are balloon world and scoreboards.

Superstar mode has its own category, once Craftyboss deems it finished, its only a matter of time
Idk how the mods fully work but I’m not sure they would work together but if so I would definitely watch that seems awesome

@@charlesmayfield3 they were saying that super Mario Odyssey Superstar mode (mod made by skellux?) has its own Speedrun leaderboard. So once Crafty says that multiplayer is finished, we may just have to wait a little bit for it to get its own category

I think it would be fun to watch bingo/lockout with this mod
lockout would be literally awesome
But with a new board for it since the game changes to sync up moons it could have objectives with moon names and once your opponent gets it you literally cannot, would make for an incredible true Lockout mode!

No, there is actually like 25 mins of cutscenes throughout the game, so that would be impossible
Seems very unlikely since the game doesnt only consist of gameplay but also other things like cutscenes etc (I think Smant even mentioned how much time this stuff takes in this video but I cant remember when)

Even if the 2D death in escape is a bug, I feel like its almost a feature. I like the narrative of having to team up at the end.
It was really amusing to watch Mario just stiffly move by, as well as just blowing up mid-boss fight! Also a really fun idea to do a multiplayer speedrun! Crafty is doing great, gonna be awesome once it's deemed worthy of release

On another day, they’re goofing around in the cloud sub-area in Snow whilst waiting for Fur and Crafty to find them
On this day, they’re working together to beat the world record

I’m loving these videos cjya keep them up! The streams are fun too but I think I prefer the highlight videos I never seem to have free time for them unfortunately. Would like to see 4 player speed runs or even 16 I think they’re possible from what I’ve seen
the server is not yet stable enough for 16 players but it probably will be in the future

i love speedruns - the ones that just try to do it perfectly, but only the way the game allows you to, and also these ones, where you do absolutely everything for the perfect time, no matter what the game (or any speedrun rules) actually wants you to do
