in fairness "person that a side character is teaming up with the hero to rescue" is pretty much always one or the other. So from a storytelling perspective he's not wrong (I'm not saying that's a good thing, but it's still accurate.)

To be honest most speedrunners don't know anything about the game they’re playing. I recall a top Paper Mario 64 player stating that they barely even remembered what was happening during the story while they were in the middle of a speedrun.

The sombrero costume “controversy” was what I like to call the “Speedy Gonzales effect”, i.e. the phenomenon where white people get offended on behalf of Latinos for things that most Latinos don’t actually have a problem with.

There's also a controversy whether or not people can design characters with a singular/3 feathers behind their ear as it "appropriates Native American culture" which I can somehow understand but I still find it stupid to associate everything with every culture when it isn't even an inspiration

It makes no sense, because why wouldn't love a beloved game character like Mario wearing/using something from their culture?
I think only a gringo (mostly white but they don't need to be) with no cultural perspective on how the world works would think this is a problem. The whole "cultural appropiation" thing is bs to me, since we've been sharing parts of different cultures since the dawn of time. Things like language, food, music, fashion, etc. get influenced by different cultures all the time.
Cj, you did a really good job as a host! Not too nervous, kept the game interesting, throwing some shade when necessary, it all made for a fun watch. Well done :)

This video was absolutely incredible, the production effort into things like the suit and the stream layout and everything was amazing, and the contenders all did a fantastic job. Watching Lycel stumble over 31 kingdoms or Linkus' visible confusion at every second question was so amazing. Fantastic stuff
I was playing along and I got 11 right. The casual knowledge section was making me feel good about myself and then the remaining 2 sections crushed my hopes and dreams.

Here's a question from someone who's never played the game but has a fair understanding of it from watching gameplay videos. Are there any Power Moons in Cap Kingdom when it's in its damaged/prologue state?
There are no moons in Cap Kingdom until after you leave it for the first time. Even then you can only get to Cap _after_ you make it to Sand for the first time.
They are not spawned in. The kingdom changes to a new state with 17 moons when you return. Then it changes again after moon kingdom to include some more.

No bc the moon in cascade is our first power moon, so there are no moons in cap untill you leave it
@@devonm042690 Before the moon shower a couple of moons are added. Peach goes to every kingdom which is one extra moon. Also the taxi driver starts going around and another moon I am forgetting. I tried beating the game while collecting every moon immediately available. Cap Kingdom has 3 different phases. Hope this helps.

From what I’ve heard, Mexicans generally don’t care for “cultural appropriation” like that sombrero-poncho-maracas outfit. It’s more white people getting offended for them.

Considering it was 2017, it might’ve been related to the whole Trump building a wall thing and having Mexicans pay for it. That was a theory in a couple of discord servers I was in, but personally speaking people read into it a bit too much lol

Q: Which kingdom requires the most moons in order to leave?
A: *Lost Kingdom* and here's why:
When Mario enters most kingdoms, he is able to leave immediately (via the Odyssey) and go to an earlier kingdom. This includes Sand, Wooded, Metro, and Luncheon, the four kingdoms which require more than 10 moons to *progress.* However, when Mario enters Lost Kingdom, the Odyssey is broken, so Mario must collect 10 moons before he can leave.

Hi! Great video, the "Which kingdom requires the most moons to leave question is technically *Dark side* which requires 250 moons to go from dark side to darker side.

Technically, Lost Kingdom requires the most moons to leave, with 10, because in every other kingdom besides Cap(0 moons < 10 moons) or Cascade(5 moons < 10 moons), you can leave to earlier kingdoms. So in Metro, or any kingdom that requires more than 10 moons, you can leave on your first visit with 0 moons, just only to earlier kingdoms.
