    That’s really helpful. I’m also annoyed at apple for inviting all these tech bros to an iPad event? Like there actually unqualified to review an artist centric device like the iPad Pro

      This!! It's the art community that is keeping the iPad Pro alive and relevant. Everyone else disses it saying how it's just a worse MacBook/laptop, but for us it's a super competitive player in the drawing tablet market and is putting pressure on Wacom and others to be better instead of giving us mediocrity

    • @imn09

      @@kitt.thomas Exactly! I saw so many people saying how its so overpowered and all these specs should've been given to the macbooks instead. Like they forget that there are many people who actually use the ipad full time for other things other than editing or typing essays or whatever. It's completely subjective and I feel like the people that should review the ipads are those who actually use it for art or digital notetaking. Its a perfect device for people who want a portable drawing device with all the specs they need to use it long-term.

      It’s not just the art community. I use it for video and photo editing. That’s a pretty big part of the market for this. I also do CAD, not as big a part, but still significant. It’s also popular with writers, particularly with the keyboard.

      Blame Apple for that because they did try to market the iPad as a laptop replacement for years. So of course the tech community was go all in on criticizing it. But it is kind of annoying how they bash the iPad so much.

    Great video. Thank you. I am not an artist but it’s almost impossible to find a review of the iPad that’s not from a “tech Bro” whining because Apple will not turn the iPad into a MacBook variation or shilling for “Paperlike” or other companies. to put a screen protector on such a beautiful display is so crazy to me, why even buy it, just seems lika a huge waste... I have owned several iPads and only used the Smart Folio as a protector and the iPads has had zero scratches. And if you're getting it because you can't write on a bare screen, just practice a bit. Just a recommendation but you do you :)

      Do not get the nano glass display, it has an incredibly weak texture which is not worth paying for the 1TB option and an additional $200 on top of that.

    i bought an 16" 2k resolution laptop instead of this and am very happy. Not only can I run full fledged CSP on here, but I also can connect my old iPad, Wacom Displayless Tablet, etc. Not to mention, with another tablet attached to the laptop, I have two screens, which is a dealbreaker for working imo, as I need refsheets of characters, objects etc. Yes, it's pricy, but I highly suggest considering the laptop + affordable drawing tablet option. Not to mention the ever present low pick-up rate of the iPad Display, which forces me to use stabilization (I usually try not to)

    @kitt.thomas Great video, did you end up keeping the nano or returning for the standard screen? I’m on the fence as well. Clearly a trade-off of deep blacks and very slight sharpness for illustrators and artists to get the nano however the nano is about as good as you can get anywhere. After testing side by side to a standard screen version, I can see that the loss of contrast is not the OLED itself losing contrast or having less contrast at the screen pixel level but rather the actual light from your environment reflecting off of the nano surface and dispersing to obscure the appearance of the blacks. I have noticed that if you are using it in a dark or very dimly lit room there is no loss of contrast in side by side comparison and the deep blacks return because there is no glare to diffuse light over the surface of the glass. So did you end up keeping nano or returning for standard glass?

    hey i got a couple questions if you don't mind answering
    1. how does the nano texture compare to stuff like paperlike for example? (in terms of the friction on the pencil when drawing and that feeling of paper)
    2. I've heard the nano texture that Apple adds to its products is VERY delicate and it can be damage by as little as using a different micro fiber cloth to clean it, so I'm wondering if this one is just as delicate? since it's gonna be used for drawing this worries me
    3. oh and one more thing! does the nano texture wears off the apple pencil tips? I know products like paperlike are like sand paper on the tip of the apple pencil so it needs swapping over a few months, how does the nano texture compare to it?

    • @user-wm7dq1nu2c
      @user-wm7dq1nu2c หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im in the same boat as you. Here are my conclusions after reading some comments about the nano-texture display.
      1. The screen is more suitable for drawing and note taking, but its not exactly a replacement for a paper like texture screen protector.
      2. Ive heard so many mixed opinions. Some say that its delicate and not even the apple cloth is good for cleaning it, some say that putting a case on the ipad is enough to prevent any scratches and that is as durable as the normal display.
      3. I honestly have no clue about that. Worst case scenario would is that both screen and pencil tip get damaged, and I sincerely hope its not the case.
      I would also like to know the exact answers to your questions!

  • @DarrinLin

    i figured if i was gonna get a matte screen protector to ruin my glossy display id just get the nano texture… so i did too 😅 im still going back and forth between the glossy and nano texture display. definitely less contrast but the screen feels soooo smooth and consistent to write, sketch, draw, and even tap on. the glossy display gets finger oils and then it kind of ruins some of my strokes with apple pencil since it adds this sluggish friction when drawing over the finger oils then back to clean glass.

    do you think getting the 13" is worth it rather than the 11"? i currently own an 11" ipad pro and was thinking of upgrading to the latest model. the major thing that i'm concerned about is portability (i love bringing my ipad to cafes to draw), so i wonder if you feel like the 13" feels too big to carry around?

    • @Staringback001
      @Staringback001 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you love big screens and space then sure. But I recommend to test a big screen first (like getting something closer to the size and pretend to draw.) because it sometimes may not be a good appeal if you're not actually experiencing it first. Of course, bigger screens don't always equal good quality since I've heard that alot of people have trouble with the 13 one.
      There isn't much difference but brighter and larger. They're both quite light, thin and capable of creating good artworks.

    Apple has it set up where you have to get it with a macbook if you need to do computer stuff with your work. the m4 is powerful enough where this thing could act exactly like an ipad and then turn into a mac with mac os and full photoshop when you plug it into a monitor, keyboard and mouse. This would be ideal for artists and would make it so we dont have to buy a computer and an ipad to make art. I use my mac studio for my day job and then use my ipad pro to draw in my spare time. I then use airdrop to export my procreate files to photoshop on my studio. I take the file - add my site name and then use export to web to make the image small enough for my website. I then store the file as as a psd on an external hdd on my studio. It would be so much less expensive if apple would let us do all of this on one device. Maybe one day. Having said this I love my ipad pro and it is easily the best art device ever made.

    • @kitt.thomas
      @kitt.thomas  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! The nano tech isn't toothy, but the soft touch of it makes a difference still to me vs other more traditional glassy textures. I've considered getting a screen protector before (one of the toothy art ones) but read online that it wears down your pen nib and can act like a grinder. For how much I work on my iPad I knew id be needing replacement nibs a LOT. If I were you, I'd go to your nearest apple store and try it out in person. If anything, they have a super flexible 14 day return policy. If you absolutely want the toothy screen protector, I'd get the standard glass edition 13in because it may dull your screen a tad bit like the nano already does

      @@kitt.thomas thanks. I think ill go with regular glass and a gritty screen protector then… people do complain about wearing down nibs and screen protectors… i work endless days as an artist only using the ipad and change nibs and screen protector twice per year. The portfolio case can be used in two positions, one is at the old angle. Just bring the top flap higher up on the back kf the top flap and magnets will hold it there. It also doesn’t flop around as much that way. A lot of people wanted the higher angle for reading, FaceTime calls and watching movies, TH-cam and Tv.

I was hesitant over the flappy flap but then had seen a review that showed the flap(on the backside cover) could be magnetically held back so not flopping around or in the way of the screen, and it also locks the case front cover when holding the ipad.
