Best video I have seen for a J pipe installation video, super great detail on how to do things and where to do things such a helpful video, I will be referring to this video when I instal my j pipe soon down the road 😎😎
Would you need a tune for this? My brother left me his car after he passed away. Dont know to much about it but it is catless and was gunna use something like this Thank you
It is not required with just an exhaust. It maybe tuned already to compensate for catless pipe. Sorry for your loss but at least you have something to remember him by.
No mention of any trouble code after Install of the Invida system. I wonder if the Invidia high flow cat introduce P0430 or 0420 cat related fault code? If so, will the Cobb tuning remove the fault code.
No issues or codes at all after install. The Cobb tuner will delete the code but will eventullay just come right back. You would need a tune if you were running a cat delete or use some spark plug defoulers on the O2 sensors to fool the computer.
For others doing the mod. I only completed the mod due to my cat going bad and needed replacement. My experience: Install of same Invidia J-Pipe high flow catted exhaust system (SS construction for corrosion protection) resulted to engine check code (P0420) that can be deleted which kept on coming back. To fix, I added a Mitshimoto cold air intake (easy install). Unfortunately, the P0420 will not go away. WRX is now on Stage 2 category. The Cobb access port triggered "air/fuel correction" code. To remove these fault codes, Pro Tuning (900 dineros) was completed and the WRX is now a charm. Lesson learned: Install of the Invidia catted exhaust system is easy, the removal of the existing catted exhaust system is troublesome. The heat shields around the cat preclude access to all the fasteners and you hope, just hope, the fasteners are not seized up. To tally up the dineros, the mod costing approximately $2350 parts + $900 pro tuning service. Now the WRX hums like a wild and angry bee. The new intake and exhaust system plus the Pro Tune introduced significant ponies and can absolutely feel it. Perhaps more ponies than a stock STI? Hope this provide more input for others.
This one only had about 38k. How many miles does yours have? Just do what I did and soak the heck out of the nuts and studs twice a day for a week or so with some penetrating oil. Before you start let the vehicle run for a little bit to get those studs and nuts heated up and they should come out somewhat easy.
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE mine has almost 70k miles, its up there and im looking to get my jpipe done in a week or so, i also plan on having the car get pretty hot before i attempt mainly bc i dont have a blowtorch.
BTW Mine has 42000 on it, so hopefully it won't be too corroded underneath. There, but your methods are definitely gonna help me out. Thanks homie, great video.
This is my son-laws car he took it to a local guy in my area that specializes in tuning Subarus. He just did a conservative tune on it through his Cobb Accessport. Here’s a clip of it on the dyno. th-cam.com/users/shortsOku8CxbXST4?feature=share
Thank you, most intuitive diy wrx j-pipe install video out there! Will rewatch before attempting myself.
Thanks a lot, homie, this video was awesome. I'm about to order my downpipe for my 2020 WRX soon.
Did you ever get your j pipe gor for your FA and any issues tuning?
I cut the exhaust off with sawzall about an inch past the turbo- broke 3 of the 4 bolts as well... Definitely pick up the additional bolts...

Love the video, but you didn't double nut to tighten those studs up on the turbo.

So you did encounter P0420 fault code. Did the tuning remove the fault code? Or you installed an O2 non-fouler to fool the ECU?
@@pumpkin971 I did not encounter any fault codes after install.

Good video my dude!!
The link for the Invidia catted J-pipe doesn't exist anymore, do you have the part # by any chance?
Nice i was thinking of doing the same setup
how many miles bro? im looking to attempt this myself but i have heard horror stories of other people doing this and stripping the studs and nut.
