Marie-Claire Laroche (1936-2018), a pianist gifted with a dazzling technique that is well balanced and rich in expression and musicality.
At 10 years old, she entered the ‘Conservatoire de Paris’ and obtained ‘1ers Prix d’écriture’ in Harmony, Fugue and Contrepoint. Then she obtained ‘1er Prix’ of Piano in the class of Joseph Benvenuti and another one in Chamber Music. In order to present herself at the Marguerite Long International Competition, she had to enter the class of Jacques Février and Master classes of Marguerite Long at her school in rue Molitor, Paris. A happy encounter with the great virtuoso Aldo Ciccolini allowed her to reach the highest level of artistic musicality.
She won several international awards and was appointed assistant of the class of Aldo Cicollini at the Conservatoire de Paris. With the great conductor Louis de Froment and the RTL Orchestra, she has recoding of Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto and Richard Strauss’s Burleske for Piano and Orchestra in D minor. Other recordings include Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 9 in D minor and works of Enrique Granados, Albert Roussel, Jacques Charpentier, Antoine Tisné……
