  • Albert Roussel*: Prelude et Fugue for piano, Op.46 composed in 1932. This work is one of the piano compositions inspired by J.S. Bach.
    Pianist, Marie-Claire Laroche**
Live recording of a Concert on January 18, 1985.
    * Albert Roussel (1869 - 1937) was a French composer who spent seven years as a midshipman, turned to music as an adult, and became one of the most prominent French composers. His early works were strongly influenced by the impressionism of Debussy and Ravel, while he later turned toward neoclassicism.
** At 10 years old, Marie-Claire Laroche entered the ‘Conservatoire de Paris’ and obtained ‘1ers Prix d’écriture’ in Harmony, Fugue and Contrepoint. Then she obtained ‘1er Prix’ of Piano in the class of Joseph Benvenuti and another one in Chamber Music. In order to present herself at the Marguerite Long International Competition, she had to enter the class of Jacques Février and public classes of Marguerite Long at her school in rue Molitor, Paris. A happy encounter with the great virtuoso Aldo Ciccolini allowed her to reach the highest level of artistic musicality.
She won several international awards and was appointed assistant of the class of Aldo Cicollini at the Conservatoire de Paris. With the great conductor Louis de Froment and the RTL Orchestra, she has recoding of Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto and Richard Strauss’s Burleske for Piano and Orchestra in D minor. Other recordings include Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 9 in D minor and works of Enrique Granados, Albert Roussel, Jacques Charpentier, Antoine Tisné……
