So, in customer satisfaction reports the Mercedes EQC is at the top of the list, and has been there for several years. So, Mercedes has done something right with this car for sure. Some comments, I have 21" tires on mine, and they are very quiet. I believe that the tires that were on the vehicle you tested were not ideal of the car. In all noise level tests I've seen, the EQC comes out as the most silent of all EV's. Secondly, comfort, how well you feel behind the wheel. I tried every competitor to the EQC before deciding, both times, and none of the competitors gives me that sense of comfort, although the iPace was a close second. Thirdly, when I drive I keep my eyes on the road. The EQC has the most used functions on physical buttons on the main console, which allows me to find the right button without having to look. This is still for me the best looking EV SUV on the market. The styling is superb and I don’t agree that the iPace & BMW iX are better looking. The iPace is a mess, and although I also really like the iX, the Mercedes Benz is a much more refined & graceful looking car. I hope they bring out a refreshed version of this model line.
Had my new EQC since December 23 - and I LOVE this car. It is so comfortable, quiet, and easy to drive. It really gives you the Mercedes experience. my only two wishes would be that the range was say 50 miles longer (it's winter of course... and I'm getting 219 miles to a charge atm, so that may change) and I think Apple Carplay on a car of this value should be standard. Other than that - I have zero regrets.

brought a pre-reg run out 73 plate - absolute steal with the big discount available. so far delighted - lets see what happens when we need to take it on a long run behind its range
Good review, couple comments - second hand ones dropped nicely in price and come with high specs. Full spec from 42k£ - maybe not in UK. HUD is particularly important with brighter interiors, the front screen has a reflection problem. Pretty sure my phone wirelessly charges in the hole at the front. 80kWh is usable capacity, total is around 85. Android is probably a good idea long term, and cannot be added later if the hardware isnt installed! The back seats have a separate climate control with the higher climate spec. Optionally also rear seat heating btw. Acceleration neck snapping way sufficient in my opinion. Finally, with my 19' I got way better consumption than what I read before buying, almost managed 400km (motorway).
So we just got one of the last of these as they are all pre-registered and discontinued in 2023. Nominally second owner but literally 45 miles on the clock, bought for £42,500. OK so its 'old' technology compared to the latest in a fast moving market but the finish is awesome for the price which is around one-third off the old list. Range isnt great but thats a compromise we can live with as we dont plan on many longer journeys - we looked at both a Volvo and Skoda and the MB is just a nicer place to sit for what was pretty much the same money for a 6 month old model with around 5k miles of either of those. We traded in an ML350 which was costing us around £250pcm in diesel and this cabin is just as nice and of course the infotainment has moved on from the old Comand. Wont be for everyone, certainly if you want cutting edge range but its a bargain for the money. We are on a 3 year pcp at which point we will go for newer tech.
Researching these . Glc , 2019 owner Never had an Ev 2020 @ 40 k miles is tempting Warranty & insurance cost needs research . 32 k for a nee battery !! Do you get a battery condition report ?
smooth lines , handsome mid family suv , weak link the range and the new 2024 mental insurance costs . Fair second hand purchase price on 2020Iish models but risk factor is no more original manuf warranty left unless bought from a decent retailer and would be lucky to get 6mths to a year . (Upside) Think there might be a 5-year warranty left on a 20/21 battery system if you purchase one with full mb certified service history. If you do a london leeds journey or further once a week or a bournemouth to suffolk coast run better look for a car with better battery range.
How things change within just a few years? Although the EQC had an eye watering price for brand new, you can now pick a used one for less than £430 a month.
Thanks for the video and good timing! I'm planning to get a used one (about 3 years old) with 2 years of "Junge Sterne" as I do find the prices interesting... And the range is completely fine for my use.
Remember that, at least in Germany, the Junge Sterne warranty can be extended over and over again until the car is 12 years old or has done 200k km. I have done / am doing this on four(!) Mercedes now and it’s been the most cost effective way of running cars ever. Makes the Mercedes a cheaper car than any thing else and Leads me to satthast I can’t afford anything other than a Mercedes.
It's a gorgeous car. A new version will be out in 2025. I've just ordered the current one, pre-registered 73, zero miles on an incredible lease deal. It will do me nicely for 2 years. Talk all you like wee man. 😂😂
Thanks for this, really objective assessment. Personally love the look of the car, but will now check the Audi Etron out. Looking fwd to watching that video next.
Great review. I do believe MB is really lagging behind other manufacturers, even the Europeans. They make very few bespoke EV's like the EQE and EQS, and they are very , very expensive for what you get. I once got a quote for an EQE Premium Plus - when I heard the price, I told the sales person I could get a Taycan for that money - walked away and bought an Ioniq 6. OK the I6 does not have the same perceived class or quality materials, but it was half the price, better equiped, and better warranty. And I wont even get onto the MB woeful new dealer and ordering model which seems to be on the basis of we will deliver what we have not what you want...
@@dingdong2103 The I6 was chosen for many reasons, including - Warranty period, charging capability, range, technology, comfort, as well as value. To assume it was only purchased to 'save money' is a very shallow and ill-informed comment to make. Having driven several EV's I would say that the ride quality is better than many, not as good as some. The I6 ride quality is certainly better than the I5, EV6 and several MB's I have owned in the past, most recently a PHEV.
@@dingdong2103 I think to be fair, I did not state the Hyundai brand was the pinnacle of premium, in fact I said "...does not have the same perceived class or quality materials". We each have our views and opinions, and it would be a very dull world if we all agreed with each other.
@@petedee7847 Sure, it seems that we value different things. I can openly admit I've been a "MB man" since my first MB which was a 1996 E320. Before the EQC it was my best purchase.
This was a good first effort for MB to get an ev to market, in a similar fashion to the BMW iX3, both ICE platforms, which have limitations. I think the next iteration of both will be the ones to audition, presumably both will have proper ev platforms.
I think especially compared to the competition, the EQC still looks a lot better than most, but design is obviously subjective, proven by the point that you said you think that the Jaguar I-Pace is one of the best looking…I see a lot of them as I live near the plant where those are being build alongside the G-Wagon and the Toyota Supra to name just a few and I think the I-Pace isn’t really good looking at all…
My start off with ev’s was I test drove Tesla 4 times, test drove citroen ev’s (they’re phenomenal in drive quality btw but not much range) then test drove etron - comfy car and very fast - I went with tesla m3p - then I gone for EQC test drive for the joy of it and wow a week after I sold my tesla and got myself EQC amg premium! Why? It has speed nearly as good as tesla - comfort is truly superior to tesla etron citroen, like for real AND Premium line looks just so bentleyish tbh - turns more heads (not that im into that😂) than tesla did hands down! And the main bit, driving mb eqc feels like ur in this prestigious posh well-assembled clockwork mechanism, every button and toggle just feels so premium and soft and just makes u feel so relaxed! It’s like youre on the road with other drivers but living in your own dimension where u feel comfortably isolated in a positive way, pampered by quality of ride and build of the interior! Best car i ever owned! Here in uk btw u dont see these cars on the road much, if ever! Ps: if u getting this car u gotta get amg premium line, otherwise the car doesnt look as stylish as it has that regular front grill and less embellished alloys, if u ask me. Its like 3-5 grand more but worth it
What about buying this as second hand car being 4 years old? It has depreciated a lot from the new price so probably much better value currently. Or would you think the EV landscape changes so quick that after another 4 years the car would be worthless?
I don’t think it would ever be worthless, and possibly the worst of the depreciation has taken place. It will still fall in value, but not at the same steep curve. Cars tend to level out at some point and I’m sure these EVs will be no different.
I’ve just picked up one of these used having previously owned an i3, I partly agree on the design in that its not exciting but I do think it has the best out of all the options you mentioned (apart from the iX which is more interesting but also would put some people off). The interior I fully disagree with you on, in my opinion, its still modern and its very well done the different choice of materials complement each other well. but i guess we all have different tastes and preferences.
The range is 260miles with no climate control on. Climate control zaps about 25% of your range. Fine in the summer - a bit cock in the winter. That being said - I adore mine. Absolute beast of a car. It's like a spaceship.
I was a dealer this weekend they had brand new cars with 30k off the price as long as you buy it before the end of the month. Only down side was the 11.5% apr. Biggest off putting factor for me was the 200 mile range they said it had.
That’s a big price incentive that is hard to argue against……but then the catch of the APR hits! Is that the only way it can be bought at that price? If you take the dealer finance? In fairness you should get a bit more than 200 miles in warmer weather. And if you can buy it at that price level without having to use the dealer finance, that’s a lot of car for the money.
I don't like the styling of the new models at all actually. EQC is still by far the best looking MB EV. Even the ICE models don't look so good nowadays IMO. The styling peaked a few years ago.
Great review would never buy new some good deals on used prices and the ipace. Great if you could do a used comparison on the high end luxury cars. Maybe at the end what car is best?? Very good used prices at the moment. 👍
Great review - your findings were the same as when I test drove one a few weeks ago. Bland, and confused interior, with a driving experience that was everything you'd expect from a Mercedes, but nothing to excite you or stand out
I wouldn’t say so. A good friend of mine has just had three years with one as his company vehicle and hasn’t had any issues with it. Buy from a reputable dealer (specialist Mercedes/main dealer or a good used EV specialist) and you shouldn’t have much to worry about. Build quality is good too. Any current EQC owners care to suggest anything of concern to note?
Take a look at the EV Database. That’s a good reference point. I’d suggest closer to 200 miles going in what a friend of mine gets with his, but too many factors can affect it depending on where you drive.
So, first of all, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. And what a great question, one which I have pondered quite a bit myself. If I had to choose between the two, what would I do? Thankfully, I was able to do big journeys in both cars, and both have their merits and demerits. I love the way the Lexus looks. Far more interesting than the Mercedes in my book, and also the interior is a great place to spend time in, especially the Takumi specification which is full of interesting materials with a build quality that I think overshadows the EQC. But then we get to the laborious and over-sensitive safety systems on the Lexus which grate on me. In terms of comfort, both cars are very evenly matched, the Lexus is a little bit more refined on the ride, but not by much. My biggest issue with the Lexus however is that range and poor efficiency. You just can't escape it, and if you are someone like me who does do regular long journeys, that has to be a massive drawback. The EQC is better, but by no means the best there is. Which is how I will answer your question. For me, neither car would be a consideration for my money at this space in the market. For range and efficiency, it is hard to ignore the Genesis GV70 Electrified, and for a blend of drivability and ease of use, the BMW iX3 is (believe it or not) better than both. But for me, the Jaguar I-Pace is still the one I would buy, just for the blend of looks, handling, performance and still being able to offer a good range. Only its slightly slower charing speeds let it down, but I would tolerate that to own a car that had all the other talents. Of course, that may change when we finally get our hands on a Polestar 3!
@@AutoEV I live in Norway, unfortunately Genesis is not avalible here, if it was I would consider it for sure. I have testdriven both cars now and i have to say i fully agree with your description on both cars, im leaning more towards the Lexus RZ but just like you mentioned the range is an issue.
Because they aren’t really natural rivals in our book. Price-wise the EQC sits above the Ioniq 5 and is positioned in the class above. That’s not to say people won’t compare the two however.
They have an offer in the UK, 0.00% APR and £8.500 discount, so the price is currently just over £73k. I think it's a very good offer, and I'll probably go for it. My only question is the second-hand value after 3-4 years. I don't want to loose much to depreciation.
I bought bought the EQC AMG Prem Sept 2022 (my first EV) for 12 months I stressed over the range, so I handed it back sept 2023, it had lost 34K in just 12 months...now have EQE 300 AMG prem..with almost double the range...always buy PCP!
How many miles a week were you doing? I do about 250 miles a week. I’m just concerned about longer trips around the uk and then the availability of charging at that destination. Especially in devon, Cornwall and wales
@@MultiBadger32 had mine for a few weeks now and I get between 2.2 and 2.8 so yeah, 2.5mpkwh is a good guess which predicts range of roughly 200 miles from the 80kwh battery.

Really interesting to hear what you had to say about this car, I'm approaching the end of three years driving my lease car, exactly the same spec as the one you had and feel very much the same. When I first got the car it felt quite special but 36,000 miles later it's feeling dated. The wheels look great but at the expense of a good ride. The seats are fine, no more. The chrome bits in the car reflect sunlight all over the windscreen. The windows give no thermal protection at all. It doesn't even have a heated steering wheel. It is extremely clunky on poor quality roads (and that stretch of the M25 heading towards Heathrow!) - but is a great workhorse for me. Incidentally, I've just ordered a BMW i5 Touring, my first Beemer, and can't wait to get back to driving a car instead of an SUV. I liked this car but I don't think I'll miss it. Edit - I see some people on here like the styling. I think it looks like an orthopaedic shoe.
Thanks for your comment (and obviously for watching the review!!). Interestingly I have a good friend who has just finished his 3 year lease on his EQC and has a new i5 Touring coming. I’ve yet to speak to him about how he felt about the Mercedes (I know he was a bit disappointed by the range) but he’s moving back to a car (his previous car was a hybrid 5 Series), so you’re not alone. Thanks again for the support, and enjoy your i5. I love that car!
I always chuckle when I see people driving the once expensive euro imports that purchased them used because "This car was $80,000 brand new just 7 years ago and they got it for less than 10 grand!!!" I'm thinking, just wait till something needs repaired or replaced because it will, and you are handed a $3,000 bill to replace the starter.
There's a lesson here for reviewers who do the hard sell on these ridiculously expensive cars when they first come out. People listen & spend their hard earned cash on these cars, urged on by reviewers. Getting only four years from an obscenely expensive car before it becomes outdated is a joke. Reviewers who spruiked this car should offer a profuse apology - and not do it again.
@@wandayonder9772 For me the range is more than enough. I pay for MB comfort and luxury primarily. I'm so happy my Audi lease finished so I could go back to MB which I've driven for over 2 decades almost exclusively.

Audi q4 etron looks better than all of these mentioned
The iX maybe is not your taste, but is better in every aspect tbh, I’ve tried them all. IX is nr1 no question and Mercedes 2 no question
Hi I'm thinking of getting an Eqc but wanted to know what's it like in the winter months ie using the heater! What does the range reduce by?
@@kristopherwilliams-edwards8030 hey, I’ve used the heaters, radio, lights, air con, seat warmers etc throughout winter and I’m getting 206-219 miles for a full charge. I only took receipt of the car in December, so haven’t yet had a summer to compare it with.
219 in winter from what I’ve researched is rather good! I’ve been seeing people drop to 190. What’s you’re driving style like ? Heavy foot?
@@louisnap2610 Nope, I use the Eco mode everywhere, and I use the Eco-Coach to try and get perfect driving ratings. I don't drive massive distances either. Very conservative driving style.
brought a pre-reg run out 73 plate - absolute steal with the big discount available. so far delighted - lets see what happens when we need to take it on a long run behind its range
Even though this model is discontinued, it is, will be, aging like a fine wine.
Researching these .
Glc , 2019 owner
Never had an Ev
2020 @ 40 k miles is tempting
Warranty & insurance cost needs research .
I’m seriously considering the Volvo EX30 as my next car, there is something about it that sits comfortably with me
Thanks for the video and good timing!
What's a Junge Stern ???? £32 k for a battery , need cover for that
It's a gorgeous car. A new version will be out in 2025. I've just ordered the current one, pre-registered 73, zero miles on an incredible lease deal. It will do me nicely for 2 years. Talk all you like wee man. 😂😂
I think the other cars mentioned have rather small dash info look. I quite like the large screens on the merc.
I have a hard time believing you would choose the Ionic for any other reason than save money. The ride quality just isn't there.
@@petedee7847 Well I disagree. The Ioniq looks very ugly to my eyes and the brand is not exactly the pinnacle of premium...
I think especially compared to the competition, the EQC still looks a lot better than most, but design is obviously subjective, proven by the point that you said you think that the Jaguar I-Pace is one of the best looking…I see a lot of them as I live near the plant where those are being build alongside the G-Wagon and the Toyota Supra to name just a few and I think the I-Pace isn’t really good looking at all…
What if you could pick up a new premium model for £47k? How does it rate then?
Its like 3-5 grand more but worth it
I decided to stop watching this the second he said the I-pace is one of the best looking EV’s out there. What a joke. Have you seen the back of it?
Yes, looks great.
What are the better cars
What about buying this as second hand car being 4 years old? It has depreciated a lot from the new price so probably much better value currently. Or would you think the EV landscape changes so quick that after another 4 years the car would be worthless?
I don’t think it would ever be worthless, and possibly the worst of the depreciation has taken place. It will still fall in value, but not at the same steep curve. Cars tend to level out at some point and I’m sure these EVs will be no different.
Whar a ev bargain , as used lowish miles in a late 23 plate under 37 k , but insurance is in 50 bracket. Its classy and conservative
@@AutoEV Nope, that's the sticker price when you get to the dealerships. So any way you can find to pay will get that price.
Interesting to know. That’s a cracking deal.
Like the interior more than the new EQ models tbh.
Think it's got 1 year left before obsolete. Yet their EQE SUV will have it forgotten sooner.
Bland, and confused interior, with a driving experience that was everything you'd expect from a Mercedes, but nothing to excite you or stand out
Kia e niro (2020/21) models is where i would put my money. The EQC is arguably the best looking EV though
I am considering to buy second hand one but i have her about some reliability issues.Something to be worried about?
I wouldn’t say so. A good friend of mine has just had three years with one as his company vehicle and hasn’t had any issues with it. Buy from a reputable dealer (specialist Mercedes/main dealer or a good used EV specialist) and you shouldn’t have much to worry about. Build quality is good too.
Any current EQC owners care to suggest anything of concern to note?
@@AutoEV thank you 👍
On my mind 142 mm of ground clearance is one of the main problems for such big SUV.
I still like it. I dont like the overly sharp ostentatious looking cars/suv. This one is just perfect.
Considering getting one of these. How many miles can I expect on a full charge during winter motorway driving?
Take a look at the EV Database. That’s a good reference point. I’d suggest closer to 200 miles going in what a friend of mine gets with his, but too many factors can affect it depending on where you drive.
175 if you're lucky. Much better in the summer.
Great review! How does the EQC compare to the lexus RZ?
@@AutoEV
I live in Norway, unfortunately Genesis is not avalible here, if it was I would consider it for sure.
I have testdriven both cars now and i have to say i fully agree with your description on both cars, im leaning more towards the Lexus RZ but just like you mentioned the range is an issue.
Great coverage... I won't be changing over anytime soon, I'm hoping that synthetic fuel will find its way onto the forecourts...
Looking to change a glc43, l tested this against a top-spec ioniq 5, which won easily. You know that car well, so why no comparison?
Because they aren’t really natural rivals in our book. Price-wise the EQC sits above the Ioniq 5 and is positioned in the class above. That’s not to say people won’t compare the two however.
They have an offer in the UK, 0.00% APR and £8.500 discount, so the price is currently just over £73k. I think it's a very good offer, and I'll probably go for it. My only question is the second-hand value after 3-4 years. I don't want to loose much to depreciation.
Just ordered one on this offer
There'll be big depreciation on these
Just buy on a PCP.. No concerns on residual value as all the risk is with the manufacturer.. I only buy on PCP
after 3 years the value dropped with 50%.2020 premium plus 40k miles, 33k £( we buyanycar- 28k)
Looking at a 3year old EQC has dropped approximately £30,000-£35,000 so a steal to purchase used now.
Miles per kwh? This most vitally important piece of information missing in a 46 minute video?
About 2.5
@@MultiBadger32 had mine for a few weeks now and I get between 2.2 and 2.8 so yeah, 2.5mpkwh is a good guess which predicts range of roughly 200 miles from the 80kwh battery.
Great video , as usual
@@jme_ahow heavy is you’re foot? I drive a C43 coupe now. And switching to an eqc via a work car scheme and I’m concerned my driving style will rinse the range 😂

I agree, not having apple android CarPlay, and wireless charging as standard on base model is a slap on the face when MB is asking for over £70k at the time it first came out. Stingy doesn’t even accurately sum up their attitude on that
When it comes to only 3 trim levels and lack of customization ability it is just UK problem (probably due to BREXIT). If you buy this car in EU you can really customize it much much better.
Handsome expensive , ( what mercs new aren't) SUV ,but after 4 bloody years your still not sure about the looks 😭😭 lol . Slightly Mature drivers 50 plus like/admire the shape. Including myself . Acceleration 0-60 rapid indeed
Not efficient enough, not enough boot capacity, no frunk, and a transmission tunnel - Just not punching its weight in this far more competitive EV market.
Still nice looking just tech has moved on so fast its left behind q4 e tron looks better
Better work on your own “styling” mate….
Not a useful review tbh. I thought he would talk about battery capacity degradation, new EV range compared to this old car etc.
Useless
You did understand that this was a review of a new car, not a used one?
Unlike you didn't understand that the car you where driving is a premium, not a premium plus as you mentioned
Well if you drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee nothings going to compare
I always chuckle when I see people driving the once expensive euro imports that purchased them used because "This car was $80,000 brand new just 7 years ago and they got it for less than 10 grand!!!"
I'm thinking, just wait till something needs repaired or replaced because it will, and you are handed a $3,000 bill to replace the starter.
Ahhh no pan roof?
There's a lesson here for reviewers who do the hard sell on these ridiculously expensive cars when they first come out. People listen & spend their hard earned cash on these cars, urged on by reviewers. Getting only four years from an obscenely expensive car before it becomes outdated is a joke. Reviewers who spruiked this car should offer a profuse apology - and not do it again.
Sorry but the EQC is in no way outdated. It's a superbly comfortable and peppy ride with plenty of range for anything I can use it for.
@@dingdong2103 It's an awful lot to pay for less than optimum range. No good for me on both counts.
@@wandayonder9772 For me the range is more than enough. I pay for MB comfort and luxury primarily. I'm so happy my Audi lease finished so I could go back to MB which I've driven for over 2 decades almost exclusively.
@@wandayonder9772 Optimum range means turbo diesel with optional gas crematorium fuel tank and 1000+ mile fuel range without even trying.
Anyone who thinks an I Pace is good shouldn’t be testing cars…it’s the ugliest and worse EV out there 🙄
In your opinion. Which is fine, everyone is allowed one. Mine however is very different to yours, and based upon having covered extensive miles over the years in I-Paces, and 30 years of experience in evaluating cars. But like I said, you are entitled to your own thoughts.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
I pace is a nice car it has nearly everything compared to eqc. I think maybe the main thing people don't like about it is it is a bit on the lower side for an SUV. As you know and probably follow the bandwagon, everyone is on an suv craze.
Never the best, now well down the list!
So much talking but no value. Focus on the facts.
What did I miss?
O
The first 8 minutes are a waste of time. Styling is very much a matter of personsal taste. Leave the waffle to the giggling girls.
We put chapters in so you can choose the parts you want to (or don't want to) listen to. I do agree with you about styling being about taste, but it is also to point out areas that we like/don't like, comment on heritage, or why it looks the way it does. But like I said, by all means skip to the bits you want to know about. Thank you for watching and taking the time to give some feedback though.
Good luck with these when they need servicing our of warranty. 😵😵
