    Hey man....what do you think about the new arm with all new bushing same price as the bushing

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are you talking about an aftermarket arm? Like something you buy as a set, and just replace them instead of pressing the bushings out? I like the SPL bushings, but for normal driving under normal conditions, you can probably just replace them with aftermarket arms.

    • @mrpjfresh1810
      @mrpjfresh1810 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Know it's probably too late for you but maybe this info helps anyone else who comes along. Start with a 30mm or 1 1/8th inch socket. Unfortunately, every socket will be slightly different when it comes to the outer thickness. I had two 30mms already - one was too small and another axle impact socket was too large. Went to Advance Auto, took the arm with me and found a Die Hard 30mm 12 point was almost perfect. With this socket, ball joint press, impact and a little penetrating oil, the old bushing was out in about a minute.

    Hey quick questions my front bushings are blown, my local shop wants to replace the full arms. After seeing this i see the pushing can just be replaced how much would that be. They want to charge me $530 for my front two parts and labor.

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      These bushings were around 120. And the press was around 100. If you do the job yourself you can get it done for around 220. But you can buy a set of new arms for relatively cheap. Maybe 100 or less. And then if you take that route it would be only around 100. Few different options. I charge 300 to remove both arms, press in new bushings, and put everything back together. That's parts, and labor.

    quick question what will happen if you don't put that cone sleeve back on top of your ball joints?

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to put those back on, remove them from your old ball joints with a puller, or pickle fork. It'll destroy your new ball joints, and or won't be able to tighten them down properly

  • @synergy021
    @synergy021 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dumb question but what's the big piece of rubber closest to each tire that gets rested upon? I've noticed my 04 350z that they are pretty much shredded and there's play in my steering so much that I can feel a bit of wiggle as I cruise down the freeway. Also a loud popping sound when parking and turning to an extreme angle at low speed. Think it's all related?

    Good video. I'm replacing both of mine for the third time now. I track my car and it's lowered so the lower control arms take a beating. I'm just replacing both of the arms with new ones this time. It's less time consuming. Let us know how the SPL bushings hold up and if your car feels 'tighter' over OEM.

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      talamook Honestly, they're pretty great still. And even after they get broken in, they're still a lot stiffer than OEM. I didn't know how they would hold up, but I'm surprised how great they are.

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason you wait to torque the inner control arm bushings is to alleviate stress on the bushing so it doesn't rip the internal part when the car is lowered to the ground. However, these are free spinning, and doesn't matter if they're torqued up or down

    I’m not 100% sure but aren’t you supposed to tighten bolts that hold the bushings in place when the car is down so it’s on load and the bushing don’t fail ?

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Clone15 These bushings are in three separate pieces, not including the teflon pieces. I don't think these bushings matter, but I could be wrong. Normal bushings yes, because you don't want them to get twisted as you lower the car. I'm not a certified mechanic, I just try things myself and usually I'm fine.

    • @mayk3lll
      @mayk3lll 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1
