    May be getting my first car soon and its a 2003 350z and it needs a new right arm so this helps if we actually buy the car

    "Check your factory specifications" and then torque the crap out of it with an impact wrench. Makes sense to me.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      😂 it wasn’t torqued with the impact. Just zipped down and then hand torqued. Saves time.

      @@SpeedCultureStudios I know. I was just messing with you. I was a helicopter mechanic in the Army and as you can imagine helicopters have very strict torque requirements. But, we used to use the term "German Torque", which was "Goodandtite". I've been turning wrenches for so long I almost trust my hands more than a torque wrench so I shouldn't judge.
      I appreciate your video. I have an 05 G35 and it only has about 140k miles but I've got inside tire wear on the driver side front tire. I've heard the front lower control arms go out on these quite frequently but I'm not sure how to determine if they are bad or not. I lifted the car and tried moving the entire wheel but couldn't sense any play. I did notice the lower ball joint on the driver side has a bunch of grease throw-out around it so maybe that is it (duh).
      Do you have any recommendations or ideas?
      Yours seems to have an entire new front suspension. I've thought of doing that too, but my car has such low mileage I'm not sure it's worth the effort yet.

      @@rogfromthegarage8158 that’s how I think too. I’m almost better with “feeling” how much I’m torquing it down.
      But yeah they control arms seem to go bad quickly. Almost every one of mine was bad or on its last leg. If you’re seeing the bushings all cracked and dried out or like you said, the grease making it’s way out-probably not a bad idea. They are relatively cheap and a pretty easy job. I’d rather spend the money on upgrades, but figured I’d better get the bad parts squared away first

    How are those Moogs treating you?

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the moogs are ok, but still have some funky noises in the front. Attributing that to the upper control arms though-they were junk to start but they are shot

      Oh dang, ok. Good to know. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. Yeah I’m currently deciding between getting a Beck/Arnley arm, going full OEM arm, or replacing the bushings on my existing arm with some Energy Suspension polyurethane pieces off Z1’s website.
      Gotta get under the Z, And see if I even have an OEM arm on there,(haha) and overall condition of everything, before I decide.

      If I go that route I will borrow a Ball Joint press kit from the auto parts store and do it that way.

    Im looking at replacing my stock front lower control arm worn out bushings with new aftermarket ones, but ive heard i need an alignment done afterwards? Also it says on the bushing packaging to tighten down at normal ride height, is that important?

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You always need an alignment after changing control arms. And yes arms should be tightened at normal height-just jack the assembly up to about normal height and support it while tightening.

    Hey so why didn't you swap out bushings for poly ones instead?

    • @SpeedCultureStudios

      Way too much work 😂 They aren’t really necessary at this point for this car. I think fresh arms are probably good enough
