Bought this for a 68 Chevelle after researching ways to do this. This was the best investment I’ve done in a long time. Total time: 5 minutes for removing the passenger upper, and 5 minutes for removing the passenger lower. And that includes setting up the tool. Definitely worth it.
That's what I needed to know. I'm working on my 68 Chevelle SS. Person I bought it from included a full body bushing kit, and body mounts. Might as well use them HaHa.
I was taught to use air impact hammer to "vibrate" them out and in in standard uppers. Lowers were a little harder. 3 hrs book time, 20 min per side +alignment.
I had a clunkity klunk issue so I bought a set of control arms. I had the car up, tires off and was ready to change them out when I saw that there were 2 bolts loose on one side and 1 on the other. Just a quick tightening and I would have been done with it all. Since I was half way there and beside me were 2 new Beck Arnley control arms, it was a no brainer. Well, the rest is history and they perform like a champ. Moral of the story is, check for loose bolts before you spend money replacing something that knocks and Klunks.
PSI na yes I do like your comment your tools and stuff very educational and yes I am a diesel mechanic that work on brakes rear ends driveshaft trainees rebuilt motors rebuilt radiators haven't rebuilt much and alternators or starters but I know what goes on and wiring I have no problem with wiring the only problem I have is the newer electronics that go on the computer I like watching your shows thank you
You HAVE to install a spacer between the U on the control arm to prevent bending it inward. The large socket is the receiver. The bushings may have to be adjusted to touch the frame.
Well if you are doing bushings you should do balljoints right? Is this tool going to do ball joints doubtful i can't think of how that would work. Ball joint press also will do bushings so buy one tool with multiple uses this tool can only do one thing. But you have to do ball joints anyway so balljoint press makes more sense to me than this.
Home Depot or harbor freight is cheaper to make your own with a threaded rod and a couple of nuts + washers. Use your own 1/2" sockets to cup & push the bushings 👌 I just made one for $9
@@DarkSim77 they're doing away with tool rentals they told me, tried renting ball joint and bushing press other day - no stores have it in Broward county Florida. Had to buy it..
How can i install the second bushing if it has not thread on the far of the bar? My Opel Frontera (similar Isuzu Tropper) has the same structure but it has not thread in the there. Ty for any help
Hi, good condition job.... I don't know if I can do a 4running Toyota,99... We heat it up a lot....it was so harder to take it out....it was not easy........and after we did it w/heat ....nex we did w/ 20 tons press!!! Where I can find this tool kit? Thanks!
I don't know why people struggle using C clamps when they got space (holes) for those encapsulated bushings. Just use a threaded rod (big bolt) washers nuts and castellated sockets or normal ones to press them easily or remove them. I use power tools on them tho, never had a problem. I dislike C presses because the rod rotates, and move the parts along the way stopping it from going straight.
This tools does not work on 1964 Corvette Lower A Frame removal! The spacer for control arm bushing to keep it from collapsing will not fit the A frame!
What type of grease to use to lubricate new suspension bushings back into place? I already have Mobil 1 multipurpose grease (petroleum?), 3M silicone paste (heard it's inappropriate for suspensions), 3M copper anti-seize, and lithium grease. Something else? My bushings are rubber/plastic.
Will this tool work to remove & install the upper & lower control are bushings on my 1969 Firebird ctl arms? Is it a kit with everything in it I will need too? thx Also, I still have factory press in ball joints, do have a tool to remove them?
Ride Tech does not make a kit for most GM cars from 1967-81. My Camaro does not have a hole with threads on the end of the cross shaft, it has threads on the outside that are held in place by large washer and nut. I have never seen this kind of cross shaft. This will not work for many cars.
Show us how to uninstall and install the lower bushings with the cross shaft in the way. This kit is only good for upper control arms and not lower. Do not buy.

Where can I buy the 'spacer handle' that keeps you from crushing the double walls together??
You HAVE to install a spacer between the U on the control arm to prevent bending it inward. The large socket is the receiver. The bushings may have to be adjusted to touch the frame.
Hi Rex. The kit includes a special spacer tool that does just that. Watch the entire video. Spacer tool is introduced at 1:08. Thanks for looking.
Good day. May I know what do you call the tool used so as not to deform the arm while removing the bushing?
If you put the new bushing in the freezer over night the new bushing will slide in alot easier.
good idea, will try
I have it does work....minimal effort
why the bushing is always hard to remove and insert back in lower control arm?
because it's a press fit

Ball joint press also will do bushings so buy one tool with multiple uses this tool can only do one thing. But you have to do ball joints anyway so balljoint press makes more sense to me than this.
Yes john, this kit is for bushings alone, a press is typically required to remove ball joints.
Great video 👍
And they want a $100 for some nuts, bolts and washers. Smh. I'll make my way over to Autozone and borrow their bushing remover.

Can this Tool Kit remove the OEM Metal Sleeved Leaf Spring Bushings?
"small amount of grease" :D
What is the name of the tool used to keep trailing arms from collapsing?
For this price... hell less... you can go down to harbor freight and buy a proper shop press thats useful for many more things. Not just one.
Change the entry music please.
Folks RideTech informed me this kit will NOT work on Corvettes
It will not work on a G-body upper arm either. I found this out when I tried, then called them and they confirmed.
they want 100 bucks for a 3 dollar part at home depot. buy a long bolt and two big washers and a couple of small washers!!!
Jason Mckeon what size bolt and washers?
if I buy the hardware at Lowe's or HD, what do I buy to substitute for the spacer and the part to keep the control arm square?
sockets, pipe, anything round with hollow inside. With pipe you need very large washer to cover end of pipe.
Use a grade 8 course thread long
Bolt and some washers
