J.S. Bach's Cantata Wie Schoen leuchtet der Morgenstern BWV 1 channels the gentleness and the subtle joy of the beauty in the melody. The choral and soloists are an exquisite sparkle of vibrant resonance and majestic tone. Flawless and sublimely beautiful. BWV1 Cantanta highlights unprecedented depths becoming the spiritual Christmas drama. J. S. Bach, Richter and the musicians give the inner peace that this magical work entails!

Wonderful balance between the instruments, the voices and both of them. The opening choir is a good rxample: the horns must not cover the ornaments of violins, and when the strong chorus enters (with a cantus firmus and ornaments), the instruments maust remain audible. Richter is very good in keeping such a delicate balance of tones.

Hmm ... Sound balance? Richter used transverse flutes instead of recorders, English horns instead of oboe da caccia, furthermore he had any idea about the musical practice of the baroque period. His interpretation has no dinamic contrast, and no adornment, despite in the 1970s there were scholars who had investigated this matter.

@@Astor962 I can agree with your statement, but this is no a matter of balance, but of color.

@@Astor962 i am not so sure. It affects color, for sure, but balance is a matter of orchestral direction by definition: the sound of each insturmrntal/vocal voice can, and had to be tuned in order to produce the exepected balance.

Splendida interpretazione!
