In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield").

Crying is an occupational hazard when listening to Angelina. She can effortlessly communicate with your heart.
So true. Listening to Angelina while living with 60 years of traumatic stress can make for a lonely time flooded with some very old tears mixed with new ones.

Many thanks for reacting to my all time favorite musical artist, Angelina Jordan. She was 12 years old for this performance with guitarist, Ivan Mendez. Ivan said when invited to play for Angelina they would sit down and in most cases do just one take, sometimes two. Angelina is the only vocalist to make me cry in my 62 years. As talented as Angelina is, she is an even better human being, humble and filled with empathy. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for her.
Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019.
Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farci, English and Japanese.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.
Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7.
Angelina at age 6 and 7 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old.
Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. One vocal coach on TH-cam recently said, “If you have a song and want to have more emotion added to that song, have Angelina sing it.”
At age 7, Angelina’s audition on NGT was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
The next performance on NGT was her cover of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. Angelina’s acapella performance is astounding especially for a girl who had just turned 8.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on TH-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old.
On June 27, 2018 Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London.
Angelina performed on America’s Got Talent The Champions which aired in January 2020. She earned the Golden Buzzer for her performance of her arrangement of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. She sang her cover of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in the Finals but didn’t make it into the final 5 contestants. There is much debate over how and why Angelina was eliminated.
Angelina has covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, all of which are available on TH-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On TH-cam, search on Angelina Jordan every song as a fan put all songs in one file.
In August 2020, her manager and uncle Michael Astar announced Angelina has signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. On 11/6/20 her first single on Republic Records, Million Miles, was released. Her 2nd single, 7th Heaven is a jazzy, upbeat, inspirational song. Hopefully her first album on Republic Records will be released soon.
Angelina Jordan is a humble, compassionate young lady of very few words when she is not singing. She is on videos saying she wants to sing for the entire world and also that she wants to improve the quality of life for all the children on Earth. She has helped to raise millions of dollars for children’s charities and environmental causes.
Musicians who have worked with her have been quoted saying Angelina is among the most talented musicians they have worked with and she is the boss in the room when rehearsing. Remarkable for a girl of few words when not singing. For Angelina, it is all about the music and not her.
Personally, I find Angelina’s voice the most soulful and emotional voice of my lifetime. Angelina as a person, inspires me to be a better person and live longer to listen to her sing for as long as I can.

She's not looking at the lyrics but the notes and changes that she's done on the song. Her "mispronunciations" are from the fact that she is Norwegian and English is not her first language. Her pronunciation has improved considerably in the 3 years since she created the video for this song.

Angelina is 12 here, just jamming with guitarist, Ivan Mendez, while she reads the lyrics. Her home videos, like this masterpiece, are impromptu jam sessions where they record the 1st take. Ivan says if they do a 2nd take it's because he messed up. She says "follow me" & off she goes, making it up as she goes along, it's phenomenal. So they are as raw as it gets. Her TV performances or official recordings are always polished & perfect, but she uses these as exercises, trying different genres & rearrangements of classic songs from the 1940's to today. She writes her own amazing songs, but what impresses me the most is her ability to take a classic, iconic song, like Bohemian Rhapsody, & transform it into something totally different, that everyone loves, including Queen. Her voice has matured like a fine wine in the last 3 years since this video was made. Her latest release is a cover of Michael Jackson's Heal the World. The Norwegian singer (Now based in LA) Angelina Jordan is easily explained as the best, most versatile, and complete young singer we can listen to today. When her record label (Republic Records) , family and herself want it, they can just push the button. Many people forget that she is only 15 years old today because she is so mature for her age. She still goes to school. and I think everyone on her team including the record company (Republic Records), slows down a bit with marketing her. She is so good anyway, so she can not be ignored. She delivers music that lasts, and not music that lasts for a few weeks as plastic hit. Angelina has over 500 Million Views on TH-cam and over 2 Billion Views on Facebook overall on her videos. Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at the Age of 8, and has been producing masterclass level vocals ever since. The only and regular marketing is done by the fans via TH-cam. YOU feel silly???? This girl has had me blubbing like a baby since she was 7! A lady once told Angelina that her voice had made her cry. Not recognising this as a compliment, Angelina's reaction was to apologise. She is more believable than the original artist almost every time she covers a song even when dealing with subject matter she cannot have experienced. She has been described as a true empath, a reincarnation, a legend and a gift . . . all before she has left school. You haven't seen the best of Angelina Jordan and won't be able to make your mind up when you do.
She is a breath of fresh air; a young performer who walks her own path. From a very young age she eschewed nursery rhymes in favour of blues and jazz. In an interview when she was 7, she cited Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra amongst her favourite singers, reserving special affection for Billie Holiday, without whom, she has said, there would be no Angelina Jordan. All this from a child growing up in Norway, a close neighbour whose subjects regularly visit us here in London and yet have never given an inkling that any of them had heard even a bar of jazz music.
More than anything, however, Angelina is good person; the child you might wish you had or maybe the person you might wish you were. Her fans - her Angels as she has chosen to call them - feel they know her pretty well and if she has a fault, nobody has spotted it. Certainly she deserves a better world than has been left her but every few generations throws up a healing voice - perhaps a missionary, sometimes a preacher; occasionally an orator or a poet. It may be hyperbole to cast a teenage singer in that role but a daily dose of Angelina is perhaps unwittingly easing my pandemic journey.

Welcome ! Most beautiful voice, pretty much the thoughts of millions at this point. I would like to think that those who "get " her, have hearts and minds attuned to this particular Angel. This was an excellent cover but you really are not going to believe what lies ahead for you. With over a hundred covers and now several originals accessible on youtube, she never falters, usually does the song better than the original and does so fearlessly and humbly at the same time.

Great reaction to a vocal tour-de-force! No need to apologize, Angelina does that to many. You've done it now. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (125+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday , Nancy Sinatra , and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Etta James to Amy Winehouse (and many others in between) and do them all justice!
If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you (as she did here at 12yo) with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40 piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come. Wait until you find out why she performs barefooted.

We fans call her the barefoot princess of jazz, but she has become so versatile that she can almost sing anything. She's 15 years old now, signed with Republic Records, and is putting out and creating music as we speak. She recently has released her cover of Heal the World and it was breathtaking!...

Angelina Jordan can be a shock, you see the young girl, but when she sings, it's not possible to understand where the voice comes from. She is 12 years old here, having recently moved to California from Norway. I have subscribed to your channel in the hope that you will continue to discover more of Angelina's performances. I have looked at the artists you have covered, it looks like you have come to the right place. I see Elvis, Queen - just these two gives you lots of choices from Angelina's songs. In 2019 (when she was 13 years old), for the 2020 season of America's Got Talent the Champions, Angelina made a radical new arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody, for which she got the golden buzzer. That one you really have to see. Just think of Freddie Mercury doing jazz! There are a few Elvis songs that she covers really well, but we can get into that later. Her roots are firmly planted in Jazz, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse. She also does Blues, Soul, Country - a very versatile performer, she has done some shockingly good covers and also has a few originals. Sorry for the long comments, you have lots of reading to do, but I hope that you will enjoy the journey down this long and winding road (oh yes she has covered the Beatles too).
