Truthfully, l was never a fan of Adele. Then l heard Angelina's covers and it made me reconsider Adele " as a song writer". Angelina opened me up to many others l hadn't considered, Lana, Miley, Riannah, pop singers in general. I am a jazz fan, my singers are Sarah,Betty, Cassandra and of course Billie. So l gravitated to Angelina right at the start...But this piece she did here is what opened me up to Adele. Thank you, Adele for writing music for Angelina. This might sound disrespectful to Adele, but l believe history will validate. Great reaction. Also when l got up ( in the Midwest US) this morning the weather was identical to the UK, my thought was where did summer go.
This is the very first performance I heard from Angelina Jordan 5 years ago, and the rest is history! I had never heard a 12-year-old sing with this type of emotion.
Nice reaction Nina, this is not only live & raw, it is a spur of the moment recording. The guitarist, Ivan Mendez, in an interview said all the times he played for her when she was 12 yo, were unrehearsed. He would show up at her house having no idea what they are going to record. He would visit with Angelina & her family, then they would have a nice dinner & in the evening they would go upstairs to her "Music Corner." They would discuss several songs they might do & when they agreed on one, Ivan would spend about 15 minutes learning the chord changes of the song while Angelina looked up the lyrics on her i-pad & Grandma Mery would get the video camera ready. Once they agreed on the tempo, she would say "just follow me" & off they would go playing it "on the fly" while she is reading the lyrics off screen to her left. Usually there was only 1 take unless he messed up, because he said that she never did. Watch Ivan's face as he is hearing this for the 1st time. He said the hardest thing about playing for Angelina is to maintain his concentration because he is so mesmerized by her voice that he forgets what he is doing. Her guitarist in Norway when she was 8-11, Egil Clausen, said that was the same way she did all their home videos with him. He said the 1st take is often "Magic," in its rawest form. I know of no other artist that does that & I think that's why most of her fans think her live performances are her best ones.
Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another masterful performance by Angelina - this time of a well known Adele song. Both Adele & Angelina have beautiful voices, but IMHO what differentiates Angelina is her innate GOD given gift of the ability to emote the essence of each song she sings direct to our hearts & souls allowing us to also deeply FEEL her music as it flows through her. And for me, it allows me to also hear lyrics that I really never paid attention to before. While I enjoy all of Angelina's music, there is something special about her acoustic performances with just a guitar accompaniment. It truly allows her voice to shine through even more. I highly recommend some of her other acoustic performances including: California Dreaming, Every Time I Say Goodbye, Stay & Wake Me Up (her acoustic tribute to her friend Avicii). Thank you. Nina, this was one of my top 4 favorite Angelina Jordan songs when I discovered her a little over 3 years ago. I loved it mainly because of the emotion I felt she conveyed to me personally. It was as though Angelina decided to experience vicariously, and learn from, this regret "now" at 12, so she would not need to experience it in real life as she grew up. That is the definition of emotional maturity . . . if only I were so mature at 67! 🙏 One song I would definitely recommend is her perfect, maturely rendered version of "What a Difference a Day Makes" in front of a large outdoor crowd at 8. Hi. Angelina is the Queen of Adele and Amy Winehouse covers. They are all great. I think your decision to continue your Angelina Jordan journey mostly chronologically is excellent. There are two earlier covers out there from her (both from 2019 I believe), where she is kind of fearlessly testing her vocal limits. And quite successfully too. It would be very interesting if you’d analyze those, maybe even in one ‘vocal range’ reaction. She certainly slays Adele covers. It's really a toss up on trying to choose a favorite. It really depends on the mood I'm in. But if I were to put it to vote, I think "All i ask' might win by percentage point. "Easy on Me", "Million Years Ago" and even "When we were Young" are all a pretty much tie for me. lol :)
Hi, Nina! What's so amazing and characteristic of her singing is the emotional content is genuine, it is not manufactured and that's why she touches our hearts when we listen to her sing. The story of any song she sings will vary and the subject matter may seem not appropriate for her but she finds the love in the message of the song and relates to the love in it. We know by now she is all about love and when she sings for us not only do we hear the love in her voice but we feel it, as well. She is an extraordinary artist and, my goodness, her EP is coming out soon (she already gave us a teaser) and the new album a little later this year. (I know you want to wait a little while longer before you start to delve into her newer music but you need to be kept abreast of what is currently going on.) An Adele favorite of mine (Angelina absolutely kills it!) is 'All I Ask'. I believe she was 15 when she recorded it, a live version with only a piano accompaniment. Before I go, Nina, after listening to this can I ask you this question, "Is there anyone in the world who could sing this song the way she just did, exhibiting a range which makes us shake our heads?
The guitarist was Ivan Mendez, who worked with her in LA. He is a very sympathetic accompanist. Watch his reactions when Angelina reaches those high notes! This would most likely have been a first take because that's how Angelina likes to work. She is at her angelic best here. Please consider reacting to more songs with Ivan, as I think this coupling is a very happy one. California Dreaming comes especially to mind.

Love that you pick up on Angelina's unique, detailed and distinctive approach to singing. Thats Ivan Mendez on guitar. He came into the picture shortly after AJ moved to LA. In an interview with another AJ reactor, Ivan detailed what it was like to work with her. Almost always one take. She would decide on a song and he wouldn't even have a chance to practice if it was new to him! She told him "just follow me" lol. You can see in his expression how affected he was by her singing. This is difficult, yet sublime, to listen to, BECAUSE it's SO raw and exposed...so REAL; but how could an 11 yr-old sing this like she has lived a lifetime filled with experiences, especially regret and longing? Always chokes me up. When she sings, "I miss my mother" it's almost too much. Someone somewhere here on TH-cam said it best about Angelina: "she breaks your heart and then mends it all at once." Fir me, I think her voice is this ongoing force inside of her and she opens her mouth to regulate and modulate how it comes out, all the while perfectly coloring it with pure emotion and passion.

All her performances of which there are 100s are amazing (I think there are so many you might not have time to watch them all, least on Camera). Hopping around a bit will be joyous for us all. Those videos with her and her LA and Norway guitarist were almost all done in one take without any practice for either of them. In Many of them Angelina is reading the lyrics off screen at the same time she is arranging music and singing. The guitarists mentioned that if there was a second take it was usually because they made a mistake. The only thing you will ever find is some poor video/audio recordings for some.

Watch this again, noting two things: 1. She is reading the words to her left as she sings. 2. Watch Ivan’s facial expressions as she sings. This tells us two things: This is probably their first take, and Ivan is pleasantly surprised about what she is doing with the song, and she can’t have “studied” or practiced the song before, or she would know more of the words. What other twelve year old could do that and bring so much emotion on the spur of the moment? Nobody I know!

A top exec at Stargate said that in all his years in the music industry, he could only name three persons who could produce a 'production finished' rendition in 'one take' and they were Beyonce, Sam Smith & Angelina. She proves him correct in this performance, which was completed in a casual set-up at home where she has to glance at the tablet to her side in order to check for the upcoming lyrics. Then she applies her own arrangement 'vocally' to bring forth a rendition that hits me with more emotion laden penetration than Adele's great original. I've always believed that jazz singers are able to bring forth more emotion in a song than a non-jazz singer and as great as Adele is, she is not a jazz singer. Neither is Rhianna, and when you listen to Angelina doing a similar set-up for Rhianna's huge hit song 'Stay', Angelina brings forth more emotion than Rhianna, who like Adele is a great non-jazz singer. Angelina's musical mentor is Billie Holiday and Billie was the most improvisational jazz singer of all time. Angelina has adopted Billie's style of phrasing, nuance, inflections, breathy releases, and a host of other musical subtleties that led to her stating in an interview with Nadia Neophytou, 'I have to say if it wasn't for the unconditional love that came from Billie Holiday's legendary music, THERE WOULD NOT BE ANGELINA JORDAN TODAY'. Let that sink in for a moment and then realize she added, 'I am very blessed her music found me very early'. Angelina has heard all the great singers but 'only' Billie is placed by her at the top of the musical pedestal 'alone'. Billie was an uneducated Black singer who had no formal training or a mentor but she still worked her way into the night clubs of Harlem where she was crowned 'Queen Of Jazz'. It was banned from radio stations throughout the south but still sold over a million copies.

Adele writes wonderful personal songs and sings them in her own unique voice. I love listening to Adele and from all accounts she seems to be great and genuine person. When Angelina sings it, I feel it even more and she touches my brain where all the good things happen. These recordings with Ivan Mendez were largely improvised. He would come to her house and hang out with her and her family. In the evening they would quickly settle on a song, go through the score and then record it. Ivan said it was done in one take, unless, per his own words, he messed up :-)

Adele is one of the best but nobody can emit the emotion and soul of a song like Angelina. I think she reads the lyrics first before listening to the song. In this way she can understand the feeling and emotion the artist wants to convey. Then she arranges it to be able to dramatically convey the feeling and emotion to us. With that said, when AJ sings her covers, there is a whole new approach to Adeles lyrics and I feel the story deeper within. There are many covers, including the recent Easy On Me, which 16 year old Angelina nails it. Love watching you react and enjoy your breakdown with all your reactions. Hi Nina. I do enjoy your approach to analyzing singers. Here, you emphasize what most makes Angelina, Angelina: her tone and musicality. Your expertise in vocal performance also doesn't constrain you into being a technique junkie. Some reactors with backgrounds similar to yours will deconstruct every vocal technique, inflection, and ornament, ad nauseam. I think you hit on such points at a very reasonable level, tying them in to how technique serves the piece being performed. Much appreciated. ... In response to one question you raised, I suggest not getting hung up on chronology. Angelina has over 150 videos in her catalog, which is still growing. Perhaps a better way to go in defining Angelina is to sample the breath of her performances. You commented on her low register in the performance here. Perhaps, a piece that gives that even more of a workout is Angelina's cover of Rihanna's song, Stay. As a traditional songstress, tone singer from the 1940s or 1950s, give a listen to her rendition of You Make Me feel So Young. (not big, not flashy, but ever so tasty) You might like to get down with some Angelina R&B. For that watch another short, homemade video of Angelina singing Etta James, I'd rather Go Blind. The summer when she was 12. These recordings are my favorites. Several have given you the circumstances of them how they found each other. But I love the realness of these recordings. Spontaneous and organic. Not perfect by either of them. But I would say imperfectly perfect. Real. Just two talented musicians creating together. He is so clearly absorbed in her vocals. He stated in his interview with Alan Papier that he would mess up sometimes just because he would get so drawn in by her vocals. Angelina is not singing to please a producer. In these TH-cam videos she is singing because she loves to sing. Just a note the microphone she is using his the one she received on her 12th birthday. It is a Neumann microphone model TM102. They are known for picking up breathing, very sensitive and many people that use this microphone also use a pop filter. But a very nice microphone.
I do not possess the knowledge to say that Angelina sings this better than Adele, but I can say she is much more emotionally impactful to my ear than Adele. This is a sucker punch to the heart followed by the gleeful "Byee!" slap in the face.

AJ can perform a Capella, or with one or two instruments to follow her lead and give you chills with each performance. I have always enjoyed all genres of music, and being 75, I have experienced the best the industry has to offer, from the early 50s, to 2023, but I have never been moved emotionally in the past anywhere close to what Angelina Jordan does from 7 to 17. When I heard Celine Dion perform in a tint in Québec when she was a child, I predicted she would be the next world superstar, and the rest is history. Celine did not sign a record contract until she was in her early 20s. David Foster, who made Celine a star flew to Norway after Angelina wone NGT and tried to sign her, but her family wanted to stay in control of her future. Angelina, at 13, appeared on AGT and getting worldwide recognition signed with the largest record company in the world at age 14, Republic Records. The story is that Monty Lipman, the CEO, and known as the Star Maker, personally signed her even without meeting AJ, he was shown a video of her performance. Angelina Jordan will be the next Super Nova very soon. As for being her biggest fan, e pluribus u-num.
One and done that's the brilliance of Angelina ! Many of her guitarists have noted that they are amazed that she can listen to a song a couple of times ,set her own arrangements in her mind and start to sing off a lyric sheet and perform flawlessly like it was nothing ! They would mess up all the time and she would just keep singing throughout ! Her great strength I feel is that she is an excellent listener and student of music that she is able to grasp the lyrics and inherit them in her own vocal DNA and then set her amazing storytelling abilities to work ! Angelina is beyond her years (and of others even much older) in lyrical interpretation. She douses each word, phrase & note in EMOTION (her secret weapon & uncanny talent). Combined with the lovely ebb and flow of her voice; the softness, the angst, the melancholy makes you FEEL all the longing, and BELIEVE HER. You aptly point out the attention to details, the vocal ornaments with which she weaves the story that is being told....The setting in which she is performing, belies the quality that results in a raw, real and moving experience. Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when her full album is released later this year. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from RR now, and they haven't started marketing until the full album is released!. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). FIFA Award song - She performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old invited by Norah Jones. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list... She has over 250 songs on TH-cam with cover songs and many originals. Angelina also plays piano and guitar. The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "bare belly plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. She already eats most female vocalists for breakfast, and the label Republic Records and the rest of the music industry know that too! Angelina Jordan has nothing to prove. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can!!!

Truthfully, l was never a fan of Adele. Then l heard Angelina's covers and it made me reconsider Adele " as a song writer". Angelina opened me up to many others l hadn't considered, Lana, Miley, Riannah, pop singers in general. I am a jazz fan, my singers are Sarah,Betty, Cassandra and of course Billie. So l gravitated to Angelina right at the start...But this piece she did here is what opened me up to Adele. Thank you, Adele for writing music for Angelina. This might sound disrespectful to Adele, but l believe history will validate. Great reaction. Also when l got up ( in the Midwest US) this morning the weather was identical to the UK, my thought was where did summer go.
This is the very first performance I heard from Angelina Jordan 5 years ago, and the rest is history! I had never heard a 12-year-old sing with this type of emotion.
Nice reaction Nina, this is not only live & raw, it is a spur of the moment recording. The guitarist, Ivan Mendez, in an interview said all the times he played for her when she was 12 yo, were unrehearsed. He would show up at her house having no idea what they are going to record. He would visit with Angelina & her family, then they would have a nice dinner & in the evening they would go upstairs to her "Music Corner." They would discuss several songs they might do & when they agreed on one, Ivan would spend about 15 minutes learning the chord changes of the song while Angelina looked up the lyrics on her i-pad & Grandma Mery would get the video camera ready. Once they agreed on the tempo, she would say "just follow me" & off they would go playing it "on the fly" while she is reading the lyrics off screen to her left. Usually there was only 1 take unless he messed up, because he said that she never did. Watch Ivan's face as he is hearing this for the 1st time. He said the hardest thing about playing for Angelina is to maintain his concentration because he is so mesmerized by her voice that he forgets what he is doing. Her guitarist in Norway when she was 8-11, Egil Clausen, said that was the same way she did all their home videos with him. He said the 1st take is often "Magic," in its rawest form. I know of no other artist that does that & I think that's why most of her fans think her live performances are her best ones.

Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another masterful performance by Angelina - this time of a well known Adele song. Both Adele & Angelina have beautiful voices, but IMHO what differentiates Angelina is her innate GOD given gift of the ability to emote the essence of each song she sings direct to our hearts & souls allowing us to also deeply FEEL her music as it flows through her. And for me, it allows me to also hear lyrics that I really never paid attention to before. While I enjoy all of Angelina's music, there is something special about her acoustic performances with just a guitar accompaniment. It truly allows her voice to shine through even more. I highly recommend some of her other acoustic performances including: California Dreaming, Every Time I Say Goodbye, Stay & Wake Me Up (her acoustic tribute to her friend Avicii). Thank you. Nina, this was one of my top 4 favorite Angelina Jordan songs when I discovered her a little over 3 years ago. I loved it mainly because of the emotion I felt she conveyed to me personally. It was as though Angelina decided to experience vicariously, and learn from, this regret "now" at 12, so she would not need to experience it in real life as she grew up. That is the definition of emotional maturity . . . if only I were so mature at 67! 🙏

Hi. Angelina is the Queen of Adele and Amy Winehouse covers. They are all great. I think your decision to continue your Angelina Jordan journey mostly chronologically is excellent. There are two earlier covers out there from her (both from 2019 I believe), where she is kind of fearlessly testing her vocal limits. And quite successfully too. It would be very interesting if you’d analyze those, maybe even in one ‘vocal range’ reaction. The first one is ‘how great though art’ (fan video from Yozhik) -> how low can I go? and the second one is her Whitney Houston Tribute from her cover channel ‘I have nothing’ -> how high can I belt?

But if I were to put it to vote, I think "All i ask' might win by percentage point. "Easy on Me", "Million Years Ago" and even "When we were Young" are all a pretty much tie for me. lol :)
Hi, Nina! What's so amazing and characteristic of her singing is the emotional content is genuine, it is not manufactured and that's why she touches our hearts when we listen to her sing. The story of any song she sings will vary and the subject matter may seem not appropriate for her but she finds the love in the message of the song and relates to the love in it. We know by now she is all about love and when she sings for us not only do we hear the love in her voice but we feel it, as well. She is an extraordinary artist and, my goodness, her EP is coming out soon (she already gave us a teaser) and the new album a little later this year. (I know you want to wait a little while longer before you start to delve into her newer music but you need to be kept abreast of what is currently going on.)
An Adele favorite of mine (Angelina absolutely kills it!) is 'All I Ask'. I believe she was 15 when she recorded it, a live version with only a piano accompaniment.
Before I go, Nina, after listening to this can I ask you this question, "Is there anyone in the world who could sing this song the way she just did, exhibiting a range which makes us shake our heads?
Angelina's current single "Love don't let me go" is so far, my favorite original song from her.
The guitarist was Ivan Mendez, who worked with her in LA. He is a very sympathetic accompanist. Watch his reactions when Angelina reaches those high notes! This would most likely have been a first take because that's how Angelina likes to work. She is at her angelic best here. Please consider reacting to more songs with Ivan, as I think this coupling is a very happy one. California Dreaming comes especially to mind.

Love that you pick up on Angelina's unique, detailed and distinctive approach to singing. Thats Ivan Mendez on guitar. He came into the picture shortly after AJ moved to LA. In an interview with another AJ reactor, Ivan detailed what it was like to work with her. Almost always one take. She would decide on a song and he wouldn't even have a chance to practice if it was new to him! She told him "just follow me" lol. You can see in his expression how affected he was by her singing. Notice she reads the lyrics from her phone. If I may be so bold, you look wonderful in the heat and humidity. Can't wait for the next one. Stay cool Nina.

This is difficult, yet sublime, to listen to, BECAUSE it's SO raw and exposed...so REAL; but how could an 11 yr-old sing this like she has lived a lifetime filled with experiences, especially regret and longing? Always chokes me up. When she sings, "I miss my mother" it's almost too much. Someone somewhere here on TH-cam said it best about Angelina: "she breaks your heart and then mends it all at once." Fir me, I think her voice is this ongoing force inside of her and she opens her mouth to regulate and modulate how it comes out, all the while perfectly coloring it with pure emotion and passion.
Angelina has quite a few Adele covers, and they are all among my favorites. Angelina handles melancholy lyrics better than anyone, so Adele’s beautiful songwriting is right in Angelina’s wheelhouse. When Adele sings A Million Years Ago, we feel her pain. When Angelina sings it, we understand that those lyrics apply to each of us and the missed opportunities in our lives. Any lyricist would want Angelina to sing his or her song.

12 here. Your reactions are wonderful and infectious. Please go in any order you like. All her performances of which there are 100s are amazing (I think there are so many you might not have time to watch them all, least on Camera). Hopping around a bit will be joyous for us all. Those videos with her and her LA and Norway guitarist were almost all done in one take without any practice for either of them. In Many of them Angelina is reading the lyrics off screen at the same time she is arranging music and singing. The guitarists mentioned that if there was a second take it was usually because they made a mistake. The only thing you will ever find is some poor video/audio recordings for some.

This tells us two things: This is probably their first take, and Ivan is pleasantly surprised about what she is doing with the song, and she can’t have “studied” or practiced the song before, or she would know more of the words. What other twelve year old could do that and bring so much emotion on the spur of the moment? Nobody I know!

musical mentor is Billie Holiday and Billie was the most improvisational jazz singer
of all time. Angelina has adopted Billie's style of phrasing, nuance, inflections,
breathy releases, and a host of other musical subtleties that led to her stating in an
interview with Nadia Neophytou, 'I have to say if it wasn't for the unconditional love
that came from Billie Holiday's legendary music, THERE WOULD NOT BE ANGELINA
JORDAN TODAY'. Let that sink in for a moment and then realize she added, 'I am very
blessed her music found me very early'. Angelina has heard all the great singers but

Angelina said that Adele is an inspiration to her. Adele writes wonderful personal songs and sings them in her own unique voice. I love listening to Adele and from all accounts she seems to be great and genuine person. When Angelina sings it, I feel it even more and she touches my brain where all the good things happen.
These recordings with Ivan Mendez were largely improvised. He would come to her house and hang out with her and her family. In the evening they would quickly settle on a song, go through the score and then record it. Ivan said it was done in one take, unless, per his own words, he messed up :-)

Hi Nina, honestly, I'm not a fan of Adele. Yes, she is a phenomenal songwriter and her music touches many of her fans. With that said, when AJ sings her covers, there is a whole new approach to Adeles lyrics and I feel the story deeper within. There are many covers, including the recent Easy On Me, which 16 year old Angelina nails it.

Hi Nina. I do enjoy your approach to analyzing singers. Here, you emphasize what most makes Angelina, Angelina: her tone and musicality. Your expertise in vocal performance also doesn't constrain you into being a technique junkie. Some reactors with backgrounds similar to yours will deconstruct every vocal technique, inflection, and ornament, ad nauseam. I think you hit on such points at a very reasonable level, tying them in to how technique serves the piece being performed. Much appreciated. ... In response to one question you raised, I suggest not getting hung up on chronology. Angelina has over 150 videos in her catalog, which is still growing. Perhaps a better way to go in defining Angelina is to sample the breath of her performances. You commented on her low register in the performance here. Perhaps, a piece that gives that even more of a workout is Angelina's cover of Rihanna's song, Stay. As a traditional songstress, tone singer from the 1940s or 1950s, give a listen to her rendition of You Make Me feel So Young. (not big, not flashy, but ever so tasty) You might like to get down with some Angelina R&B. For that watch another short, homemade video of Angelina singing Etta James, I'd rather Go Blind. The summer when she was 12. These recordings are my favorites. Several have given you the circumstances of them how they found each other. But I love the realness of these recordings. Spontaneous and organic. Not perfect by either of them. But I would say imperfectly perfect. Real. Just two talented musicians creating together. He is so clearly absorbed in her vocals. He stated in his interview with Alan Papier that he would mess up sometimes just because he would get so drawn in by her vocals. There are a few covers he accompanied on where he is not visible because the song was made into a video. How Great Thou Art. Wake Me Up (Avicii tribute) I’m Not the Only One. Angelina is not singing to please a producer. In these TH-cam videos she is singing because she loves to sing. Just a note the microphone she is using his the one she received on her 12th birthday. It is a Neumann microphone model TM102. They are known for picking up breathing, very sensitive and many people that use this microphone also use a pop filter. But a very nice microphone.

I do not possess the knowledge to say that Angelina sings this better than Adele, but I can say she is much more emotionally impactful to my ear than Adele. This is a sucker punch to the heart followed by the gleeful "Byee!" slap in the face.

With all the gimmicks that are used in what is known as music today it is so refreshing to come across a being that does not need auto tune, lightshows, dancers, outrageous costumes, bands, or orchestras to cover their weaknesses because she has none. AJ can perform a Capella, or with one or two instruments to follow her lead and give you chills with each performance. I have always enjoyed all genres of music, and being 75, I have experienced the best the industry has to offer, from the early 50s, to 2023, but I have never been moved emotionally in the past anywhere close to what Angelina Jordan does from 7 to 17. When I heard Celine Dion perform in a tint in Québec when she was a child, I predicted she would be the next world superstar, and the rest is history. Celine did not sign a record contract until she was in her early 20s. David Foster, who made Celine a star flew to Norway after Angelina wone NGT and tried to sign her, but her family wanted to stay in control of her future. Angelina, at 13, appeared on AGT and getting worldwide recognition signed with the largest record company in the world at age 14, Republic Records. The story is that Monty Lipman, the CEO, and known as the Star Maker, personally signed her even without meeting AJ, he was shown a video of her performance. One and done that's the brilliance of Angelina ! Many of her guitarists have noted that they are amazed that she can listen to a song a couple of times ,set her own arrangements in her mind and start to sing off a lyric sheet and perform flawlessly like it was nothing ! They would mess up all the time and she would just keep singing throughout ! Her great strength I feel is that she is an excellent listener and student of music that she is able to grasp the lyrics and inherit them in her own vocal DNA and then set her amazing storytelling abilities to work ! It's a natural part of her musical genius I feel that enables her to sing and bring such compassion and emotion to her audience ! Angelina is beyond her years (and of others even much older) in lyrical interpretation. She douses each word, phrase & note in EMOTION (her secret weapon & uncanny talent). Combined with the lovely ebb and flow of her voice; the softness, the angst, the melancholy makes you FEEL all the longing, and BELIEVE HER. You aptly point out the attention to details, the vocal ornaments with which she weaves the story that is being told....The setting in which she is performing, belies the quality that results in a raw, real and moving experience. Each and every of the many times I hear this, the results are the same; I am shedding a tear or (mostly) more...when I'm ALMOST at the point of no return, the song ends, and in her trademark, "happy little chirpy bird" voice, she breaks out with an endearing smile was waves "Bye!"...and all is can say is "Are you KIDDING me right now?!?!?!?" Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when her full album is released later this year. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from RR now, and they haven't started marketing until the full album is released!. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). FIFA Award song - She performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old invited by Norah Jones. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list... She has over 250 songs on TH-cam with cover songs and many originals. Angelina also plays piano and guitar.
The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "bare belly plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. She already eats most female vocalists for breakfast, and the label Republic Records and the rest of the music industry know that too! Angelina Jordan has nothing to prove. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can!!!
I think this is my favorite of her Adele covers. She did such a good job with (Easy On Me) it's a hard choice between the two.
