Railways has come a long way in these 20 years yet as prosperity comes to the society I find travelling on road and in air becoming more tempting than the train.
As you should! Traveling by air is most convenient if you need to get somewhere sooner than later. I live in the US and have traveled by air often. But there are times that where I am going is close to a railway station and I travel by rail as often as I can if that is the case. I love the trains, the people, the camaraderie and taking in the countryside as we go. You do have to watch people in the stations and on the train to make sure people are on good behavior, but for the most part, I really enjoy traveling by rail.

A railway detonator (torpedo in North America) is a coin-sized device that is used to make a loud sound as a warning signal to train drivers. It is placed on the top of the rail, usually secured with two lead straps, one on each side. When the wheel of the train passes over, it explodes emitting a loud bang alerting the driver of a hazard ahead.
