It was watching this that lead me to visiting Darjeeling back in 2012. I was travelling through Asia. I went on the toy train and actually met Sita. She passed me as I was crossing the tracks and she noticed me looking at her. I said namaste and did the charade's sign for TV show. She nodded it was her. I tried to tell her how much respect I had for her and asked how her boys were. She said they were doing fine. I asked if i could take her photo and offered her money, which she would not accept. That photo occupies a special place in my office. What a fantastic woman.

I have hours of very atmospheric video from a trainspotters’ tour which visited Darjeeling in 1984. No diesels then ! Most of the Darjeeling videos now online are modern and staged; my video recorded the actuality. I just need to digitise the video and put it on TH-cam…. 😀
