I am a Thai, living in Bangkok, and I have this habit of leaving youtube documentary on and go to sleep. But this particular documentary kept my eyes wide open and stuck to it from the beginning to the end. It is now 5.12 am, and I am still thinking whatever is happening to these brothers and sisters of ours. So happy to have learned from comments below that the rail has been revamped and now in service. Hard working people with dreams deserve opportunity. If the board gauge is giving them opportunity i m happy for them.

I didn't see poor people. I only saw proud working people with not enough income. Nepal is so beautiful, I hope they can keep the Chinese out with their so called investment opportunities.

I am an Indian. How long can we be so insensitive to the travails that abject poverty and lack of opportunity burdens them with? But I glory in their pride and their will to survive in spite of all.: especially our women folk. I do hope the Indian Railways and the Government will stick to their word and establish the broad gauge line. Thank you for this excellent documentary.

New India has lesson here from Regina, a true life size heroin of this story. Being a Muslim she cares to take a leap of "faith" and offers a goat to Hindu goddess and says" your God and my god are not different". This belief in union of humanity and God invokes philosophical resonance of Kabir that people have so easily forgotten now.

What a documentary. The Railways are the life line to many. The underbelly surrounding the Train and the Railways, was captured in a nuanced and heartwarming fashion. Determination, Grit is written all over. Hope the Janakpur residents have got back their train. Thanks BBC for the wonderful documentary.

This show is about the people the railway serves. You learn about the country's history not just the railway, Great series.
