    Air compressors are so useful. Wish I had a garage to put one in. I would get a lot of use with one. Harbor freight always has good deals on on cheap tools.

    • @DIYDad1

      Oh yeah HF is always my go-to first if I can save some money. I research their stuff first so I avoid the crappy products lol. But overall I’ve been very satisfied. And besides my shop vac this air compressor probably sees more use than any other tool in my garage. You can probably find a nice portable one that you can haul out when you need it. Some of the new ones that are only like 5 gallon capacity are actually pretty decent now and can keep up with basic tools like blow guns and inflators.

      The reason I'm asking is because although the psi is high enough the SCFM has to be at least 5 to use an impact wrench. Is this guy confused or am I?

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamesmitchell2804 no your absolutely right because my impact wrench is rated at 5.3 scfm but the compressor only outputs at something like 4.7 if I remember correctly. This simply means it cannot sustain 90 psi at that cfm forever. But because it has a large tank, I'm able to remove at least two tires worth of lug nuts before the output pressure from the regulator drops low enough and the tank has to recharge. There's enough of a reserve there that you can run larger tools, albeit intermittently, without the compressor running constantly. Now this is fine for tools like impact wrenches where you aren't hammering on the trigger constantly. But you definitely need a higher cfm for constant demand tools with things like paint sprayers. Hope that makes sense!

      @DIYDad1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haven't tried to but I would think you could flush it a couple of times with a few drain and refills hope it clears up I haven't tried. I wish there was a small dip stick for these.

  • @jamesmitchell2804
    @jamesmitchell2804 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you run a pneumatic impact wrench to take the lug nuts off a car tire with this thing?

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! I use one frequently with mine. Use it for rotating tires all the time. I can usually do two tires before the air compressor kicks in again to recharge. It's been great for automotive work.

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is it leaking out the top filler hole or somewhere else? Could be a leaky worn gasket where the oil is.

  • @NoDayz0ff
    @NoDayz0ff ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the same compressor and have the stupid oil leak through the breather, I replace both the piston and rings, but didn't fix it unfortunately

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Dang, I'm sorry to hear that! I've heard of that happening occasionally. Hopefully it still functions, just need to keep a closer eye on the oil level hopefully that's all that it is. Do you get any oil into your air lines at all? I know that usually happens even when the oil isn't leaking.

      I'll check the exact amount in the manual, they should have the manual in their website for this you can download in a pdf. I believe it's 5.6 ounces. www.manualslib.com/manual/65045/Central-Pneumatic-67847.html?page=15#manual

    I see that you are using a 3/8 hose, I have the same compressor but I could not get the air that I needed for my impact gun to work, MY GUN CALLS FOR 90 PSI-But I was only getting about 60 or 65 lbs-So I took off all of the air fittings from all of my air tools and drilled them out-The stock fitting are only about a 1/4 of an inch ID, Now I have full air power to everything-Now you can buy bigger fitting but why do that when you can just drill out the ones that you have on hand, My gun would not brake a Crank bolt lose, But after I did what I did zipped it right off

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been using the Milton high flow fittings I found on Amazon that helped dramatically. I might have to make a video on that some time and setting up your air compressor to maximize it. But you're right the stock fittings are very restricted, especially if you want to use high cfm tools like an air impact. Of course there are losses through the whole system and the resistance of the hose itself, even the length of the hose makes a difference, you gotta look at the working psi at the business end and not rely on the regulator entirely. Setting a regulator to 90 at the tank might only get you 60 or 70 psi on a 50 foot hose. So I usually crank it to about 110 on the regulator and it gets me to where I need to be at the end of the hose. Thanks for watching and commenting! Glad you found this video helpful!

    No need to change the oil 5 times. I've had my compressor on the dirty dusty farm for many years and never have changed it even once.

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Probably overkill for sure lol. All the reviews I’ve read said to at least change it a couple of times when brand new just to remove those metal flakes from the motor manufacturing. Just helps to keep the piston from getting scored prematurely. Still using it to this day and I’ve had this thing for probably 5 years now and it’s still going strong!

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Biophyswiz and not only that but shorter hoses can help too! Going from say 100 feet or 50 feet down to 25 feet really helps lessen the amount of air resistance. I might try a short 1/2" 25 foot hose and see how that performs compared to my 50 foot 3/8.
