Thanks Dan, my compressor starting giving me the same issue today, only about 20lbs of pressure. After I found your video I opened it up low and behold broken reed valve. I'll order them either through Ebay or HF. If the latter their "Reed Valve Rebuild Kit" (#15884) includes the head gasket, metal gasket, 2 valves and a valve plate gasket for $6.49 plus free shipping. The downside is not knowing the quality and the delivery time could be 2 weeks if in stock or 20 days if shipped from overseas. Did you ever have an issue with a leaky head gasket or the other original parts?
BTW, the cause of mine was that I had a hose that was leaking. While the compressor was still running I tightened the hose down. The leak stopped, but then the compressor made an odd refilling sound and would no longer fill up to it capacity. So it seems I broke the valves likely with a sudden surge of pressure. Stupid on my part, but live and learn.

I have not had a single problem since my rebuild.

@@danielsgarage3545 Great, then I'll order from your source and hopefully have the same luck. Thanks a lot for the video, it really saved me a lot of guessing and research; hell I even thought I'd be purchasing a new compressor at one point.

If it doesn't do anything when you start it, like dead. Where to start?

    • @danielsgarage3545

I would start with power. Is the breaker on? is the outlet gfci? Is there power at the outlet? Is it plugged in? As long as there is power coming into the compressor then the first item to look at is the on off switch on the compressor.

@@danielsgarage3545 Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. I tracked the electricity down to the pressure switch and I have power coming from there into the motor. I am not sure then if the motor is gone.

@@DrAlmurshidy if there is power to the motor wires and it's not turning in it's most likely the motor or something internal thats keeping the motor from spinning. Depending on how handy you are, I would do a complete teardown and inspect everything. You will only lose time but gain experience even if it's a total loss or repairable. In the end it's up to you is it worth your time and energy or does your budget allow for a new compressor. I know these can be bought second hand for pretty cheap and if you get the same kind you have spare parts down the road.

@@danielsgarage3545 I completely agree. I actually do that for my own joy. I like working on these things. Thanks bro for your answer.
