Thank goodness we are fortunate enough to live in an age where you can casually look up an incredible Rory Gallagher performance and be gifted with a rare John Bonham appearance in the same video. Simply astonishing. Thanks to whoever preseved this clip for us to enjoy years later.
You can see here how the metalheads loved him dearly too. He was across the board musician. Hard Rock, you had it, Blues, the master, Folk, also thrown into the "mix". He could play some serious jazz stuff too, especially back in the Taste days. He would throw in some funky bits here and there too. Like the writing my wife & I left by his graveside: "They don't make 'em like you any more". Well, they don't, do they?
This is why I love Rory, he could reach for the stars but at heart he was a man of the people. Way too many artists get lost along the road and become pampered by excess and ego. Rory stayed down to earth and never sold out, even getting pissed when record companies released What's Going On as a single (which actually gave him a ton of popularity in England) despite it's success. If thats not Rock and Roll, I dont know what is.

What an energy!! That's pure Rock N' Roll!!! I also want to mention the great audience ( the first NWOBHM Headbangers) and the strong drummer and bassplayer. Damn, 40 years ago... Unbelievable.

Calling Card is also a master work by Rory and his band. Ted is one of the best Bass players around. What a team him and Rory made. It is now legendary.

I saw him in around 1974. Not long after he got the Melody Maker "Best Guitarist" award. I might be a little off on the exact date but it was unforgettable.
