I think when people say it’s not going to be the same without Kojima, they are forgetting two key things: 1. It’s a remake, and with the commentary of the website, we know they are trying to be faithful to the original. At that point you don’t need a strong creative vision to reimagine the game. 2. Not every Kojipro member left Konami to join Kojima in his new Kojima Productions. Some people who worked on previous MGS games are still there. And if we have to thank someone for how polished and complex the mechanics of MGS can be, it’s the programmers, level designers and other staff. And Virtuos has helped in a ton of games like the Switch port of Nier Automata or even MGSV. As for the future of the franchise, the only thing I really want are the previous games (especially MGS4) on modern platforms. At this point the lore is too convoluted/redundant for something like MGS6 and I would either prefer self contained stories or nothing. I’ll just hope that whatever comes next has someone who isn’t trying to be the next Kojima, but has a strong creative vision of what they want to achieve with the game. So basically, I’m glad to see that both you and MGS are back :)
Glad to see you're doing well. Likewise, I'm cautiously optimistic about the remake and future of Metal Gear. I'm more of a wait and see guy. If Delta flounders (Hopefully not), at least we have the Master Collection port and I hope it gets a physical release as well as a PS4 version. Edit: Capcom should takes notes, re-release the Resident Evil classics on modern hardware for God's sake. Edit 2: Konami has confirmed a PS4 release for the Master Collection on the 21st of August 2023, now I'm happy.
Mgs 1 remake is long overdue. I simply get chills whenever I’m reminded of that game. It was way ahead of its time. The impact it had on me since 1998 is strong no matter what games out there I would call my favourite.
This video sums up my entire feelings about metal gear. I see way too many “there is no metal gear without kojima” comments but the great spinoffs prove that yes, there is
That picture at 3:42 looks like MGS3 felt when I first played it. You have some good analysis here, yeah, if they modernize the clunky shooting, the game, despite it being linear, has a chance to to be a huge hit once again. I can’t wait to see more developments on this game. Fingers crossed
To answer that last part, I'm moreso excited that Delta isn't compromising the re-release of mgs3 on modrern platforms, so even if Delta doesn't tickle my pickle, I have another option to play another hd-non-remake version without emulation. Hopefully mgs4 port is in the books too. And I have no interest in seeing Solid Snake's story continue where it has already ended, so if the plan to bring him back I would rather see him in self-contained plots. Hopefully it comes to that if it does. Hell, just to fuck with people have plots where he dies for the mission and he comes back all fine and nelly in the next plot. Also bear in mind I am still cautiously optimistic about all this, even the master collection. Seeing Konami's track record with re-releases have been just slapping emulators on it, and that's their bare minimum, then I have no clue what to expect, or what their bare minimum is going to be for the mgs2 and 3 hd ports (I don't see them slapping emulators for consoles that take up more cores and threads then usual). And look, I'm fine with bare minimum as long as it's priced right too, but I also wouldn't mind paying more for effort and quality. Edit: for instance, I wouldn't mind paying more if they can work out whatever kinks they need to give us FOV and uncapped framerate. That's the pc gamer mindset talking but I would really love that for mgs 2 and 3 at least.
MGS4 is so criminally underrated. I think if Konami ever finds a way to port it to current consoles that will give a lot of fans and newcomers a second wind to really appreciate what a bloody great game it was and that for all its fan service it did ultimately have a big heart.
I agree. I feel like it would be so much more interesting to start over and write a new military fantasy story in its own universe then go back to MGS again.
i don't see how we need any new games at all. they could just turn phantom pain into an anthology, like the IOI guys with Hitman. They could literally make an eternal game with seasonal updates that introduce new settings and some enemy reskins. MGS TPP gameplay is so rich, I was actually amazed by the complexity of enemy responses after playing Ground Zeroes.
Part of me would be SO okay with that! With Konami's team just adding new missions, levels and bosses. But that would also limit the scope of the story cuz you wouldn't be able to do modern Snake tales like MGS2 or 4.
Glad to see you back, mate! TBH if this remake really is like the 3DS version but accelerated for current consoles that's more than enough for me! MGS3 is one of my favorite games of all time so any iteration of it is gonna be a masterpiece so long as it runs properly. As for what I want from future remakes? I want them to remake Metal Gear 1 and make that MGS6 because it would basically take the series full circle and give some closure to Venom's story. And because the foundation is there from what Kojima already left behind but so loose that its specific details aren't really addressed in the later games, someone new could turn it into a completely unique story so it WOULDN'T just be a retread of old ideas. I mainly just want to see Venom come back and finally be the villain after all he went through in TPP. I'll play anything Metal Gear that comes out and hopefully surprises me but that's the story I long for most.
The graphics are my biggest worry, it seems they are focusing so much on just the awe of realism that they are forgetting the other elements that help Snake Eater look unique.
I only hope they don't fall for the same trap as every other next-gen game does by having the same texture maps that give all hair this extra shimmering and fake look. MGS, RE and Final Fantasy look better than these other games cuz they have this more anime-esque style to the characters that makes them look unique even if not hyper-realistic. The model for Snake and the KGB guard still look like they have that style going for them but we can't say until we actually see this game in action. I'm optimistic that the visual style won't be lost to make it look as homogenized as most games on current consoles do. :)
I think because PP's gameplay wouldn't translate well to a game with rooms as condensed as SE's. They tried doing that with Twin Snakes and it made the game too easy. SE requires slower movement speed. He also mentions how the guards look to be using the same animations as SE and not PP so it isn't likely for the game to use SE's animations with PP's controllers.
I dont expect any cutscenes or set pieces to be modified much if at all. Maybe we can switch camo or cure wounds without the need to pause the game which is more immersive and would mean you cant just cure your injuries while 10 guards are in your face or the end is sniping at you. Otherwise i do hope that we can get side ops\vr mission type content Extra ops could even be made post launch if Konami wants some dlc stuff.
I hope we see more fights with ocelot’s guys. For the first fight, everyone has a slightly different variation on how to complete it with no alerts and my absolute favourite memory of mgs3 is getting through the second encounter (if you kill the end prematurely) on e.extreme. I still have the save ready on my vita lol. If that’s the kind of side quests you’re talking about and not capturing 7 gerbils I’d be 100% on board. On the subject, I do have to vent that the third encounter when they track you to the waterfall just sucked… so so much.
@@Tehgamerstation Oh wow, I remember you, I always enjoyed chatting things up with you back in the day. Thanks a lot, good to see you're still about here too.
Like RE4 developers, Konami doesn't have chance to miss such a great game like MG3 Snake Eater. That's why i think it has pretty chance not only to survive but even be better in a really significant moment in the game
I want the remake to have Phantom Pain gameplay. Will Phantom Pain’s gameplay translate well? Who knows considering they could change the maps up. Don’t want any of the Jank from the old games. It’s a notable pattern that older games Jank is a large portion of the difficulty. I really don’t enjoy a lot of old games in general because of how they feel.
Real quick, I see you said you played the game over 30 times. Favorite parts?? I just did my first no kill all stealth run on hard a few years ago, only played it to Granins Lab after that.
>Are you personally excited to see a remake, or anything MG related at all the latter, though i am of course interested in seeing a remake of 3 as long as it remains true to the original with some control enhancements and streamlining of other things (like menus) as you brought up. i also truly wish it comes to PC, my aim with a controller is complete fucking garbage lol >Do you want to see other MG remakes well beyond the answer i'm required to give involving MG and MG2: Solid Snake, yes - i would love to see portable ops and peace walker both get the proper treatment and become actual console/PC quality games instead of remaining in their portable forms/ports forever. i'd also be curious about metal gear solid 2 mobile even if i haven't heard the best things about it. >Do you want Konami to make more self-contained spin-off games sure, though i've gotta see how this turns out first before i can actually, genuinely commit to that lol. if it turns out well, hell yeah. i'm glad to see you upload again!
Besides mgs3 remakes I also really hope we can get metal gear and metal gear 2 solid snake remade for modern systems as they contain important story elements for the series but have for the most part aged like milk while being mostly unplayed by the greater mg community.
You mentioned Last of Us Part 1 and my concern is the price. I already have MGS3 for the PS3 and emulator and I'll get the master port when it releases this year. I'm not spending $70 for the exact same game. Didn't work for Naughty Dog and it wont work for Konami either. This game needs to be reduced price because even RE4 Remake was reduced price and that game absolutely justified a full priced release for how much better it was than the old game and how much it played differently and did things completely differently. That Konami said they're using the old sound files means they're not going that way like you said they probably wouldn't. So something closer to $30 or $40 is fairer.
i think all good things eventually come to an end and i think the franchise expanding is one of those things. metal gear should rest with kojima, but i dont think re-releasing them for accessibility purposes and even remaking them for it is a bad idea at all. i hope they remake all of them, and finally re-release (or better yet remake) mgs4.
People who complain about these clunky controls are just bad at the game tbh, you having to stay still while aiming adds this whole other level of thought to the game off positioning yourself, if you can just move while aiming, it removes that mechanical depth
I think your optimistic future is too optimistic. Most we'll likely get is graphical updates of all the mainline games and thats it. I dont expect many more full fledged spin offs or any MGS6 game. This MGS3 remake looks like a Bluepoint style bare minimum thing.
Why do people insist on makimg so many metal gear remake videos without actually having anything to add about the situation? Yes we all saw the same trailer we dont need you to make a video saying you saw it too. And we've all heard of mgs3 on the 3ds. Wait until you actually have something new to contribute before making a video just for the sake of it.

Besides, he ends the video opening discussion to the viewers about what they want from the remake or the future of the series. Seems pretty on-brand with him TBF.
Ultimately, I made the video because I wanted to. I enjoy editing footage despite how time consuming it is and I enjoy using videos to try and engage with subscribers. That's really all the reason anyone needs to upload anything. This video in particular was largely in response to the recent bout of more negative takes that have been popping up in response to the news that Konami's internal team was handling Delta. That and it's been a year and a half since I've posted any content and the reviews I'm currently working on are still taking a very long time, so this gave me an excuse to make some shorter form content. Which is something I'd like to do more of in the future to keep from dropping off the face of the earth after every other video.
This is going to be MGS3 with updated graphics. Nothing more. They already have the updated graphics version from the arcade slot/card game. Do you really think Konami is going to do any effort to give us a new experience ? They want a quick buck with as minimal of an effort and cost as possible. 😴
