Jokes aside, I honestly expected worse for an army this kitbashed. I can make admech cost more still without trying. If anything Big Kieran's Wife: Your husband is frugal and did a great job sourcing cheap deals on such an impressive project.

Kitbashing / creating your own thing is always far more expensive, but god damm will you love those models so much more than any of the vanilla stuff.

No Regrets! Think about all the hours of entertainment you got kitbashing, painting and then playing with all of those. I love Warhammer as a hobby, unlike so many things we spend money on, this (while so expensive) gives a great return on the investment. Even after years and years things can be repainted, added to, changed, upgraded and even sold if needed.
Absolutely right. Tbh I don't feel the same connection playing with a basic army, when you take the time to make something really yours it's quite special I think.
@@the_kieran_show For sure! Making unique armies is what it is all about for me, even if it isn't always heaps of kitbashing, since I collect too many projects at once.
I genuinely thought it would be more. The amount of money spent on the models is definitely less than the actual value of the army

The worst I ever did was buy a box of Eradicators and Belisarius Cawl to make a single Techmarine, leaving me with not enough Eradicators to field a legal Unit and half a Cawl.

That army is amazing!! I started in the hobby maybe 6 months ago and I really liked grey knights but didn’t like the way the models looked.. so I decided to convert the whole army… for my first army. Luckily though, I don’t need Loooaadds of models for 2k points which I’ve just reached. I just priced up the amount it’s going to cost for the models for my paladin brick with Grand master and it’s like £200. I love my army though… each combat patrol is costing around £170-£200 to do as I’m using Etsy bases, leviathan terminators and assault Intercessors to convert all the strike marines/interceptors/terminators etc. I also used Abaddon for Kaldor and used like 3 different kits to build him 😂 still miles off having the army fully painted and built but loving the process and can’t wait to use it in my first 2K games

If there ever was an advertisement for 3d printers, it would be a video like this where you go over just how fucking insanely expensive kitbashing an entire army is. And as someone who never built anything according to instructions, used to buy two different kits just to mix them up and so on, I was basically walleted out of the hobby three years ago and just got one.
Also on top of being affordable, my current SM project is pretty much completely impossible with the models GW currently offers because it's Monster Hunter space marines. It includes stuff like me just taking some sort of a big monster, digitally hacking parts of the carapace off and then joining them together as like a shoulderpad, armguard or anything like that. Cutting off any natural weapons they have like claws and fashioning them into lightning claws, cutting off stuff like tyranid bioweapons and just sculpting them into swords using some other weapons in my library, taking fangs and scales from dragon models etc and fitting those into stuff and it's a whole ordeal but thankfully plenty of people make bits for like space wolves and salamanders so I use models someone else has already made wherever I can.
DakkaDakkaStore has cool salamanders, greytide has space wolf bits,atlan forge also has stuff for both and those are basically my base models that I then add shit onto.
Don't take it all as gospel but you're absolutely right. You can find some amazing 3d bits for a fraction of the price!
I have never felt comfortable enough with my modeling skills to kitbash anything like this stuff. All amazing kits!! Another great vid my guys

You're having a good bit of fun grilling him for all those purchases... :P This is also why one purchases through third party shops, and not direct - it's slightly less hard on the wallet ^_^

I just started. Got the starter box (not the ultimate one) got glue a primer the companion painting set. Then decided i wanted to speedpaint my nids so got a starter box from army painter then i found my normal paints drieing to fast and got a wet palette..... im already 200 plus (easy) in it and im still cutting spruce. Man this game is cursed. I finally escaped magic only to land in warhammer. So my first army will be off rhe shelf no bashing cashing nothing. Then for my second army i should finally have a first born to sell so i can kitbash.

Yes! Night Lords! looking forward to that. also... don't worry Kieran, I'm planning on buying an unreasonable amount of Sisters models to turn them into an army I can get for so much cheaper. Just because I want to have some fun chaos sisters. It's not reasonable. It's not financially sound, but its going to be a fun project, and I'm sure thats what the Chaos Wolves were for you.

Yeah.... pretty punchy... BUT... the chaos wolves (Demon Russ in particular) were the reason I started following Kieran a couple of years back... so arguably this was his investment into being able to do this and painting professionally full time!

Honestly though, the models look amazing, and you're clearly, rightfully, very proud of the results. That's well worth the cost.

I did primaris scale Grey knights, 30 terminators (20 regular 10 paladins) and 10 purifiers, plus characters, and I had to buy 6x boxes of Grey knight terminators, 4 x boxes of the new terminators and 2x boxes of deathwing knights, a grey knight strike squad and two boxes of sternguard veterans, 3 dreadknights (and 3d printed bits to make them look less baby carrier) and 2 land raiders,
Holy emperor thats insane.

That’s okay my 2,000 pts Custom Space Wolves army I’ve decided to call the Plague Wolves isn’t finished yet and costed me as of right now $1,072 US dollars and I have my main Hero kitbashed using Ulrik, Njal Stormcaller, a Gravis Armor, Skulls kit, Reivers kit and A SpaceWolves upgrade kit… My wife thinks I’m nuts and have lost my mind. This army I am working on my my COVID Passion Project

Okay so why did you buy 3 space wolves sprues instead of buying 1 blood claws kit? This kit comes with all the heads, shoulderpads, backpacks, weapons and gubbins you can add for basically anything.

I saw a chaos space wolf fellblade once, and thought it was kinda slick. And I sometimes think of the pile of the old heresy decal sheets that came with every box that had sisters of battle in it for my custodes that I never finished, a whole transfer sheet for thousand sons and space wolves all so you can get those forehead tattoo decals for sisters you won't use anyway.
I think of these things, and think "Hmm I could do some Dark Wolves blackshields for 30k and use them for CSM in 40k" Then I remember that I have like 6 armies in various states of assembly and painting and stop myself before I do something stupid.

While I did expect this to get into 4 figures 😂 I think you probably (in reality) spent about half this cost, if you utilise WARHAMMER MATH!
That's today's GW RRP, you probably bought these kits years ago when they were half the price and from a local game store so an additional 20% off
Whatever you sold Belacor for comes off the total.
£90 for the Judiciar is a stretch I would count up how many bodies are in that box and divide 90 by that.
If you sell Ulfrics body and the 2 Dread bodies on ebay you could prob get £50 back.
The number goes down quickly if you make ALL the excuses 😂
Trust me when I say I spent alot less than the total, it's just funny in relation to the army cost videos. I absolutely do hold my hands up to buying two full price dreads. The smooth brain was in full flow then 😂
