Also the Blade Champion is a fantastic inclusion since he gives the army some much needed mobility when our other other two options are disappointing bikes and expensive Venatari
I actually think the templar combat patrol will be the best marines patrol. They have one battle line unit (that will be used almost 90%), the upgrade sprue is awesome and will probably have one other unit and an HQ (basically will loose the vehicle (or not) some other patrols have vehicles like the GSC or tau
It's wild how much more affordable AOS 3rd Ed armies are compared 10th Ed 40k. I really hope that stays the same with 4th Ed when we see the indexes this week.
I was disappointed in the new GSC box but there are definitely two key scenarios it makes sense; I think that GW's plan was to sell it to the people who had already gotten 3 of the old one and needed the other stuff, but boy is it rough to new GSC players. The other scenario is if you really want to play the GSC vehicle detachment; in that regard it's similar to beast snaggas, its great if that's your thing, and meh for everyone else. That said, I had 2 of the old ones, and I'll probably go in on a third rockgrinder and then hybrids.
They are going to turn it into aos spearhead , I wouldn't be surprised if the release a board for it like spearhead and turn it into buy this box to play this version of 40k but don't buy multiple boxes for army building 2000 points
They....are kinda getting worse? The issue was just that the old ones were not balanced in the first place, there was a clear tier list of patrols. It didn't matter what the rules were it was fundamentally broken. However, barring the starter box marine patrol (its missing 5 more flamer dudes tbh), the boxes should balance better. But on another side, I don't think they're as good at showing off the army like the old ones were. (Except tszaangor patrol, anything different will probably be better)
Yeah totally agree. The new ones just lack the sauce the older ones did, they should be a good entry point but have enough spice to encourage you to an army.
I do feel like they are getting worse as start collecting boxes but the new ones feel much better in the Combat Patrol game format. The old Tau and DA were busted to play against. Great vid my guys
@the_kieran_show Not really bro. I get it you want to be fair but what once was a viable entry point into 40k is now something you need to do mental gymnastics to justify. These boxes (on the whole) do not justify their price. Never seen GW downgrade something so quickly along with a price increase. Think the community should stand firm on this.
@@wholesomecomment45 again, commenting on one or two boxes being better or marginally better isn't the point. On the whole, these boxes are more expensive and have less in them. This is not a 3-5% increase but, for many, upward of 20%. The community should come together over this.
@the_kieran_show in terms of pricing yes. Less than half of people In the UK have less than £500 in savings and most people I know don't even have £5. Maybe down south life is smooth but come up north where all the shops are boarded up and no ones got a penny and try putting a box of 30 small plastic men on sale for £100. Warhammer is such a middle class game and it's sad. With £100 3D printer and legends leaking the files online has changed my life. Games workshop need to get real and stop robbing people, which is what they do when you consider 10 tactical marines is costing them £1.74 per box!
The tyrannid cp is a pass... you dont get all weapons options... i heard its better to buy the starter set as even as it costs more, you get all the weapon options, + a second cp with the space marines , the book etc... so in total you get more for your money even if it costs you a bit more than the tyrannid cp alone... and depends where you buy it. The ultimate starter set costs less at a 3d party reseller than the tyrannid cp in a gw shop... so thats my way to go.
Space Marines combat patrol boxes were and still are boring as f.... they never had any flavor (except for Black Templars). they were just made to sell generic models for any SM army. Good core, but nothing for the chapters. Sisters... the old had good value, but being mono-pose it has some limitations. Love the variety though, I just wished the Sisters squad had at least a heavy weapon or any other options. The new one on the other hand does come handy if you didn't have Flagellants or Sacresants as both Canoness (base for conversions, its a cool kit) and Battle Sisters can be used in multiples. Overall combat patrol boxes are going to be worse. There are a few old ones that I might pick up when I see what their new versions will bring (did it for the Sisters as well).
Are they getting worse? Oh i dont know. I had my eye on the guard one with the cannons and walker but then as soon as i thought screw it time to pull the trigger, that wasnt the box anymore and it was basically nothing but horseys. Trash.
@the_kieran_show hahahaaa, tbh the banter and smash comments make the video well worth watching. But this vid's really highlighted how G-Dubs is pulling our pants down on value of these boxes

Yeah this sounds likely!
Where can I get that sisters shirt?
Yavin Prints!
It's wild how much more affordable AOS 3rd Ed armies are compared 10th Ed 40k. I really hope that stays the same with 4th Ed when we see the indexes this week.
Yeah we hope so to!
Thats some interesting points. If youve already got an existing army then its certainly some nice flavour in a discounted box!
I would love to see this video format for Spearhead in AoS tbh 😊
Oh it's coming!
@@the_kieran_show ❤ oh that's glorious!
They are going to turn it into aos spearhead , I wouldn't be surprised if the release a board for it like spearhead and turn it into buy this box to play this version of 40k but don't buy multiple boxes for army building 2000 points
Yeah totally agree, tbh the Spearhead set up looks pretty solid. But the models in those AoS boxes are infinitely better 🤷🏻♂️
20 FREAKING TZAANGOR
All hail the goat men’s
Yeah this is a good point, there totally more of a swing towards using them as is in games rather than collections
These new combat patrols are a slap in the face. Wouldn't buy any of them.
Not any?! Some I totally get, but there are some winners for sure.
@40K-zf9db I would agree with you but the new Custodes box makes me not miss the old one
@@wholesomecomment45 again, commenting on one or two boxes being better or marginally better isn't the point. On the whole, these boxes are more expensive and have less in them. This is not a 3-5% increase but, for many, upward of 20%. The community should come together over this.
So you arent allowed to play the old combat patrols with the release of the new ones?
Good question! We actually don't know 😂
Answer, yes! It's not viable anymore.
Nope!
Yeah the starter sets are the best way to get either the space marines or tyranid models for sure!
Yeah we would totally pick up any older ones that you're interested in before they sell out, the sisters one is already OOS most places!
Vanguard boxes are the same size and much cheaper
For now 😭😭😭
Start collecting number of models at combat patrol price.
Sounds about right!
Are they getting worse? Oh i dont know. I had my eye on the guard one with the cannons and walker but then as soon as i thought screw it time to pull the trigger, that wasnt the box anymore and it was basically nothing but horseys. Trash.
What a life 😭
New ork box sucks.
Noooo it's Beast Snaggas! Well half of us like it anyway. 😂
9:51 he is picking his nose. your argument is invalid
😂😂😂
Short answer. Yes
Woopsie!
@the_kieran_show hahahaaa, tbh the banter and smash comments make the video well worth watching. But this vid's really highlighted how G-Dubs is pulling our pants down on value of these boxes
They all include some trash unit that makes them not worth getting. Never include the cool stuff that get people into the factions. Whatever. The best combat patrols are bundles of STLs from patreon.
Stonks
Yea.
Solved;
Yes....
*nods in approval
combat patrols are starting to look like the start collecting boxes with nearly double the price.
Totally!
Giving the new Dark Angels a smash and not seeing the glory of the previous version makes me think you guys are 100% shills.
😂😂😂 just fishing for comments really
