The Sisters Of Mercy Kiss the Carpet, Body Electric, Floorshow Live The Loft Berlin 30/08/83 Another Copy Better Quality Than The Previous Upload. Is This The Best Sisters Video Ever?
Sisters in 1983 were a rock n roll band. Nothing more. Nothing less. But a damn good one with hefty fuzzy bass lines. That clown Wayne brought all the goth, dry ice, cowboy hats. All theatrics. This is here is effin’ rock n’ roll.
First time with friends in Berlin. We went there without knowing them, only 15 years old ;-) to see the (semi-)famous Loft. But I was infected then - forever....

The Sisters were secretly replaced by a parody tribute band after the First Last Always album, little known fact. Eldritch got speed induced stage fright permanently and refused to play live after that. He later developed a similar phobia to recording studios.
@@Mr.Swankly your completely right. Andrew Eldritch is dead. Today another person performs as Eldritch on stage. I asked Rodney Orpheus, a freind of Eldo, bout that and he said yes that is completely true
Actually Michael Jackson reinvent Andrew’s image. The hilarious Dr. Jeep where no one is really playing their instruments is Andrew reinventing MJ’s image along with Roy Orbison.
Spiggy was neve the most rotund of fellas, but sheeeeiiittt ; In this it looks like someone's just plonked a pair of shades, a wig and a blouse on a skeleton. Makes the Albert hall 85 Eldritch look like John Belushi.
semitelfeletem Weren't we all that thin til age 30? Eldtritch once said that the black clothes were left over from his university days as they were everyday functional. The meaning being due to poverty rarely washed the clothes. I spent ages 23 to 30 as a "goth" even though the scene had died in 1994 when it had a boost from The Crow movie. The Sisters had a great 11 year run from 1983-1994. I realise Eldtritch still yours but friends who have seen the post-Vision thing band claim that he is joke and sounds like a 3rd rate garage band. Check out the 1993 Enjoy the Puppet show concert when they supported Depeche Mode. This was Eldtritch's downfall even though he denies it. The two massive Mode albums - Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion - were superior albums to Floodland and the woeful Vision Thing.
Frosted Depeche Mode are garbage, give your head a shake. Floodland was a great album, though I concede Vision Thing was below par. I was a goth in the mid eighties and Depeche Mode weren't on the map in the alternative scene. This Sisters were great up until Floodland, his downfall was letting Craig Adams walk away, taking his obvious song craft with him.
The Sisters run ended in 1983 a few months after this. Wayne joined soon after Ben left. A little less than two years later from this it was only Andrew and never really sounded this tough ever again. He went where the money followed him. He’s still a cunny funt with great humor. Glad he still gots that.
No, sorry. Wayne was an excellent guitarist and I think the 12 string electric did more to nail that quintessential Sisters’ sound than even the good Dr. did.
Great to see this gig! Ive got it since long back on a quite bad copy on VHS. I will upload other Sisters stuff that might not be up here at all, or atleast that I got a better copy of :)
Not that I could find when checking my old lists of tapes. But the Glasgow gig 1983 gig, that you upload, is listed as 59 minutes and your was 51 minutes. I can't guarantee that I got it right, but I will check it out when I gets to it. But that will take a while with all my tapes.
whoah, i hadnt realized such early Sisters gigs had survived on video. it's great to see the original line up again as they were before Ben left and the dry ice took over. the only true sisters line up, and it brings back sweet memories of 82-83
Amazing!! Everyone is looking for more footage of this show but as far as I know this is all there is. Do you have memories of this show? or photographs? Email me the address is on my about page.
Andrew owns everyone in that crowd. They are all feeling Body Electric and Floorshow. No smoke, no theatrics, barely any lights, and no cowboy hat. Just bad ass bass lines and and killed guitars. Fookin’ R’N’R. Best era the TSOM.
Andrew’s twitching would give Ian Curtis a run for his money. As lame as Vision Thing may be, the live shows from that era revealed a far more impressive lead performance. He’s since resigned himself to just pacing back and forth behind his two Adonis-like guitarists (or, in some cases, the one 21 Jumpstreet looking guy and a girl who is the worst guitar mime ever!) that eclipse him and often drown out his very diminished vocal performances these days.
i love these oldschool recordings...we're so lucky to have them
I thought something looked very odd about them in this clip, and then I realised that they weren't obscured by a cloud of dry ice
They are obscure in their own way. They don't look odd, but it is your opinion and that is ok
The only person to front a goth gig and wear a white top and still be dark as hell haha love you Andrew.
White is a gothic color

He isn't, but he invented the genre. It is expected for him to be goth

Which part of West Berlin was The Loft situated?
@@migspit Hi @migspit!
The Loft was in the West Side of Berlin.
In "Schöneberg" near by the Subway Station "Nollendorfplatz"
@@christophmiessler5459 Thanks! I didn't know that. I am familiar with the area as I was a frequent traveller to Berlin pre pandemic.

Easily the best sisters video ever made. Love the 83 gigs, great quality.
Brilliant stuff, the longest ever lasting cigarette too, things were better in the 80's
Brilliant.. reminds me of times i saw them back then
Brings me right back....thanks travis. (feel 18 again)
This makes me sad i miss this music😢
i know the feeling brother
This was the band that changed everything for me. The latest version is basically a tribute act that some dude bought off AliExpress. Very sad.

Good old time,thank you..
Genialidad de grabacionnnntesoro indiscutible 🕶️🕶️🕶️🕶️🕶️😉💪😎😎😎
how can a vhs from 83 be so superior sounding to them in person in 2000-2020?
Because the entire band left except the lead singer. That's why.

I am a massive Sisters fan...for some reason Eldritch here reminds me of Michael Jackson....hair, thin body and dark sunglasses
Michael who?
agree :D but this MJ look came after ;)
More of a wanna be Peter Murphy. He's trying too hard. The whole thing is to ignore the existence of the audience, while knowing they are there.
haha thinking the same thing here, very striking and undeniable 😆

its interesting to see the rough edges and where they came from
