We were at the gig. My mate bought this 12 inch single after the pub on Saturday afternoon in Lewisham, we all went back to my parents house and blasted it not realising it we were listening at 33 instead of 45. We were blown away.
My Bauhaus fandom began in the mid 90's, long before the modern internet. There was only one VHS video for the band called Arkive, which Peter Murphy said in a local radio interview was the only footage of the original Bauhaus of the 80's. Apparently he forgot about this one. I had to look this up, because I'd seen still shots from this performance but I was unaware this video existed. Apparent Target Video shot it, a San Francisco mom and pop company who went to the UK and captured footage of punk and postpunk acts. Not a lot of cash was floating around that scene back then so it's unbelievable that any footage was captured at all. Magnetic tape video was brand new in the early 80's and cost a fortune. There were only ever a few "pressings" of this home video. VHS and Beta in 1983, in the US and UK and again on VHS in the US in 1984. Apparently this is the 1984 edition. No wonder it was long gone by the time I came along!
Just want to add that there were TWO vhs released, "Archive" and "Shadow of Light", both showing musicvideos plus highlights from one and the same concert. Both tapes were combined for a dvd release. Amazon: "Two previously released VHS's together on one DVD. Contains all the Bauhaus promotional videos as well as live performances recorded at the Old Vic Theatre in London in 1982. All the hits are included in these 19 tracks."

I am an ardent fan of all things Dracula and vampires...the way that the Lugosi footage from Dracula (1931) is mixed with this live performance had me mesmerized. I could not stop looking at Lugosi's eyes as this track played, I mean, it was like - this is what a true, blood, gore, vampire looks like, not f..cking 'Twilight' veggie vampires. Lugosi is the BIZ! Again..big big thanks for posting this vid.

I saw them at cruel world in 2022 and they should’ve headlined they did so great but people only wanted to see morrissey which he’s good but Bauhaus had a way better show and i felt like the coolest 19 year old that saw Bauhaus which is a rare chance too now but then this year I saw love and rockets and they were great as well even if Peter isn’t in that band they still do great without him as well but barely 20 and I’ve seen some cool bands I’ve been to over 40 bands for sure and I’m barely 20 I got many more to go but still feel great hearing these guys I wanna see them again one day

During the early 1990s, I used to frequently see Bauhaus hanging out, smoking, in the darkness. Black Ray Ban, shades always shhshah, heheh e,zzzz, shzzzuzzahhaa! I thought I was either in contact with an unexplainable phenomena, because, I hear and see them shshsing in perfect sync! A couple of random peeps who visited me in that house said, your homeboys in black attached me in my car. Or who are those Bahaus looking, spirits hanging in your front yard? I saw this a few good times! Scary, and puzzling because I could feel all of my hairs standing on end! So dark that they would shine electric in the night sky.

i used to connect neon light's starters to the colored bulbs to make them flicker. great effect for free.
