As a fifty year old goth, my versions of these songs were cluttered and untenable. You have basically given me a whole new album. Nothing I can say to thank you enough.
@@zenaudio108 There was no "goth" in the eighties, only the so called new wave or post punks. The goths were a stupid pantomime of what happened between 1975 (first industrial Throbbing Gristle album) and 1985. I was lucky enough to experience this uncomparable musical decade from the inside.
Hopefully with better material than this, a shadow of their former shadow...The only saving grace here is the reworking of Rain From Heaven, if only he'd go back to earlier material and riff off that, Reptile House revisited would be incredible....but he's lost it vocally and has let bitter grievances with former bandmates cloud his judgement of what were the good tunes to play live or rework, sadly too much Vision Thing and not enough visionary thinking....

Great job mate. Love the old school font with the great photograph - it actually looks like a cover he would do. Great clean up of the live material. Much appreciated! Would have liked 'top night out' on there as well...
They are all live recordings. The "live" in Rain from Heaven is there because it's the only song that has an actual released studio recording, it's not that the others aren't. If you know this and still think that TH-cam has something to do with the sound, ok.
It could be that the original tapes do sound better than this but considering the 720p quality, TH-cam is barely to blame. It might be the tapes, or the digital rip simply being lacking before it got upload to TH-cam. In any case, 720p is supposed to sound a lot better than this.
How awesome: I subscribed to your channel when I saw you read Dogen. I love your voice and all your readings of sacred Buddhist texts. But I was just looking over your videos and found this one, which I had also been excited to find, and had listened to about a month ago! I love the Sisters of Mercy!! And I love the Buddha Dharma :)
I am so glad they both work for you! I suspect there are more than a few Sisters' fans who have subscribed and are less impressed with the number of Dogen readings!

Thanks, Aiken. As I understand it, the problem is that most of the songs were written by former members such as Adam Pearson and Andreas Bruhn who haven't given their okay for Eldritch to record them with a new line up. I rather suspect that live versions of even well-established songs are all we are going to get now.
@@zenaudio108 Ah that makes sense. He plays them all live loads but I can understand why Adam and Andreas are insisting they are involved in any release - AE was always a bit notorious for being a bit ... challenging ... to work with. Wayne H had quite a lot to say on that topic back in the day and I suspect Gary and Craig could say much the same. Related - I actually still have an original release of The Sisterhood EP on tape (still in the fancy box with the insert slip); as you prob know already AE released that just to stop WH and CA using the name. Pretty poor show but who knows (except them) what who said what about whom in the studio. Still, it's a damned good EP, and The Mission was a better band name anyway so it ended OK for those 2. Maybe someone will chill and they'll all agree on credits & royalties, and then we'll get to see the studio cuts before we all pop our clogs. In the meantime - thanks again for getting this out there for the fans! XD
Obviously here they are trying to copy the guitar on the original line up unsuccessfully. Though the early tracks and first and last and always it was 2 guitars and one bass.
It was indeed! The live version is slightly different so I thought it merited inclusion. And, thanks! I am indebted to those who have put live versions of these tracks on You Tube.
This is a good compilation, thanks. However, these songs were not played as early as 1990 - at least, not to my knowledge. None of these appeared either during the "Vision Thing" tour, or at gigs such as those at Crystal Place or the Brixton Academy in 1993. Adam Pearson was, of course, already in the band by '93. My knowledge of Sisters concerts after that time is sketchy, but I would suggest circa 1997 as being the time when these tracks started to be performed live.
Totally agree with your comment, Albrecht. I think some tracks were played earlier than '97 but, yes, definitely not as early as 1990. I was taking Vision Thing and the subsequent tour as a baseline of that incarnation of the Sisters and these tracks are all after that. In the 90s and after would be a more accurate statement.
Nothing in here sounds pre - 90s , the style is all post ´Vision thing` ... actually some people might dispute ´still` ( just cause of the erroneous ´Patricia Morrison` connection ) but the sound and the mood is completely different from whatever Eldritch was coming up with during those days .
